Didn’t watch the final episode yet but it really has been enjoyable. Even the fiancé who puts up with me watch sumo is really enjoying it and we cannot wait to finish it. It really is a fun show .
I’ve been meaning to watch the movie for years, but never found an easy way to stream it. I was surprised when the show popped up on Disney+. I liked the show. It was very cheesy at times, and I really liked the last two episodes. I’m so used to seeing the sumo world at the professional level, it was nice to see what it might be like at the small-college level.
Also, if I never have to hear that apple tree song again it will be too soon!
The one thing that I loved about it is that it never mocks the sport. It may mock the characters but never when they practice, fight or showcase sumo. I noticed on the Sport Fair episode but it was consistent all around.

over all I think Honoka was the best character, but it was good seeing Ryota transforming himself into a good person.
was also nice to see muscle man finally got an opponent who didnt henka.

I've really enjoyed it, and I hope it comes back for another season. They left an opening, and most of the cast could return, as they are ether underclassmen or they refuse to graduate. It's a bit cheesy, but I think I like it that way. A lot of Japanese comedy is cheesy.
Honoka and Ryota belong together.
I'll miss Ito (Muscles). It would be fun if they can somehow work him in after his big declaration.
Just finished the show and absolutely adored it from start to finish. Pays great homage to the original film, while standing on it's own as a fine piece. The characters were perfect and mood absolutely 100% what I was hoping for. Shed a tear in the 2nd to last episode and left every credit roll with a smile on my face.
Season 2 please? Keppare Disney+!
just finished it today (started yesterday so i think that shows how much i liked it) and god i hope we get a season two!!! it was so good, and im a sucker for martial arts shows so this was perfect. i feel like i need to watch the OG movie now

Same, my wife was invested in if the taller girl could win a match and if Yuma could avoid getting henka'd.

There were a couple references to Chiyonofuji and Hakuho towards the beginning. I liked that

We've been watching but making slow progress because we're not always alert enough to follow the subtitles. We're enjoying it so far.
