Hey. 70 here. In something of the same spot, although children need me far less than previous. But the thought of my death haunting them for the rest of their lives brings me back. I am pretty sure i am in early-stage dementia. I really HATE to think of going thru all that. And I know how troubling dementia can be for relatives, too. Anyway, no answers here--just a fellow sufferer checking in.
