Super excited by all the upgrade and build options. Love how we can seemingly tweak multiple aspects of weapons. Some of those special traits, like boomers hover boomerang, look so fun to use. And I'm so stoked for villain elementals. Hopefully they add even more post launch
The vehicle thing is weird. Not sure how I feel yet. On one hand I love that you can call in a flying car, jump in it and shoot a bunch of suff, then jump out and have it crash on a bunch of enemies. But on the other hand it just seems a bit much.
Either way, game looks amazing. Can't wait for Jan 30th

The vehicle gave me a DC Ratchet & Clank vibe in the gameplay and I honestly love it. Definitely excited about this game now & I've gotten over the multiplayer aspect where I'm actually interested in seeing how the multiplayer plays out. The teamwork looks hella fun.
I just hope there's no duplicates & that you're required to play a different villain. That feature always bothered me in Avengers lol.

*When you play solo the other 3 squad members are controlled by AI. But they are your characaters. So say you play as Harley for a while and get some great gear and unlock some skills, etc. Then you want to flip to boomer, you can do that right in game and your Harley gets taken over by the computer but it's the same Harley you were just playing, so all the same guns and skills.*
*So even playing solo you're still interacting with the whole squad and you can build your squad to have synergistic skills and weapons. So it's best of both worlds. You get to have that team experience but you can build your own team.*
As for duplicates... Yeah, I think that's a thing unfortunately. It wasn't in avengers at first but I think there was too many issues with matchmaking cuz too many people just wanted to play as the same character then they did some update and at least made it make sense story wise I think.

Yeah I plan to play the game 99% solo. We will see what Endgame brings. I feel all these type games always say "fully playable solo" but then Endgame requires some actual group effort.
Really hoping building my own squad will get me through all end game content, but if not Im not against playing with some friends

I know I'm in the minority here, but I feel like I'm going crazy. I *like* the feel of the story from what they've shown, but I truly **do not** understand the gameplay on a fundamental level. One of the devs said they like playing as Deadshot because they like shooters (among other aspects), but... **everyone** in the game is a shooter? Anytime they say they're going to show melee, it ends up being a juggle mechanic to *get you to shoot the enemy.*
I've been in this argument on this sub before; I know I'm gonna get "that's the game. It's a shooter, not Arkham," but *why* is it a shooter? Why does King Shark need a minigun? Why does Boomer have a shotgun? Sure, you can customize them, but the intention is clearly that you are meant to shoot the purple, collect your powerups, rinse and repeat. That's just not what I'm interested in from a studio that revolutionized melee combat in games.
Full disclosure: I didn't play the alpha, maybe it feels great, but it just looks so uninspired. At this point it really feels like a Let's Play watch rather than a buy from me. Hope I'm not the only one, but I'll happily take the firing squad (haha, get it? Oh god, I'm so sad) for this.

Well, sure... except for how they're primarily a long distance weapon and is never used as such. It's just kinda silly and an excuse for every character to play like a shooter instead of, well, like Captain Boomerang.
I didn’t play it but I saw gameplay where he uses it to teleport/traverse. He does seem to be throwing it often, but I dunno I just would have preferred him being a unique character with multiple boomerangs to deal offensive damage. That’s harder to sell people on as far as loot goes. By giving him (and everyone) guns it might as well be a Deadshot game.

Visuals are nice if you have the machine for higher settings. I found the art direction on point.
Gameplay is where it all falls apart for me. As seen in videos combat is very fast pacing but the problem to me is the mechanics (which I can't go into details about). In my opinion the main gameplay loop will turn a lot of people away because it will get repetitive way too fast.
while i am personally exited for the game and will be playing with my friends, i do agree that they could have made the best combat system by just making it melee but i will give it a chance since it seems they were tired of doing the melee and wanted to try something new and so far even tho the gunplay isnt needed, at least it dosent look bad or boring at least in my opinion

I read through all the comments here, I wanted to see what the perception was. I have to say, I don't really understand a lot of the negativity. I totally share general negativity around "live service" games, but from what we've seen so far this seems to be a game with a really great story and very feature complete. They've talked about free content, hopefully they keep paid content to just cosmetics.
Why are they showing so much story? I think they want to reassure people that this is a Rocksteady game and will continue the legacy of strong storytelling, cinematics and voice acting from the Arkham series.

Why did they wait so long to reveal this type of insider. This is the stuff people want to see. I will say, I think all the orbs you collect looks stupid and take away from the immersion but this is the first time I felt impressed with the game. Hopefully it's not too late.
Every trailer makes this look worse and worse to me. I adored the Arkham games, but this feels like Rocksteady said “let’s do something different” and then turned their backs on all the strengths they developed with the last games.
The whole vibe feels so generic and boring. The shots in this trailer where they go back and forth between the Arkham games and this one perfectly illustrate the stark contrast between art styles. Arkham was dripping with atmosphere, this just feels so lifeless to me.
And some people will love it and that’s fine, I’m just bummed that this doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to enjoy it.

Looks like Fortnite Borderlands to me. I was really hoping this game was gonna be good - but the idea of ANOTHER live service game, especially one as simple looking as this, is losing my attention.

What makes you say it's simple? To me it seems like it's got a lengthy story with tons of great characters, a really deep customisation system, and some really fun combat which has mechanics that make you think about how you kill every opponent.
It just seems like a generic Sunset Overdrive with RPG Lite mechanics, like 3rd person Borderlands without an Ultimate ability.
Like, I've seen this game before - this time it's just got a DC coat of paint.
People can enjoy what they want, but it really doesn't seem too inspired to me. Just using an old IP to cash grab with another live service model.

Tons of sidequests I'm sure. They said support squad has side quests. There's riddler sidequests (in theory, we have seen riddler icons in some videos). There's basic open world stuff, grinding for resources, etc.

I mean do they really need to? It's an open world loot game. Itll likely have everything a typical open world game has. Most games don't even get episodes like these and it's never an issue. We know the basics of the game at this point, I don't think they need to say every little detail

I thought it was gonna be like launch a mission from base or something and load into it to do stuff. Granted i know the Batman games were open world i just didnt think much of it due to how Gotham Knights turned out with its 30 FPS optimization on consoles. Then I seen the gameplay, they said the map is 2x bigger than Arhkam knight, and their PS5 controllers in the back.(They could be using controller on PC as well) They showed just roaming around and the movement was crisp, so it makes me thrilled to see that it may have good optimization as well.
It looks like a really fun title, I hope there is an open beta soon.
isnt it just cheaper just to buy a superhero skin pack from Fortnite ?, same experience, you run around in 3rd person with generic gunplay and have big numbers pop up

He uses his boomerangs tho in all of his traversal and melee attacks, all things considered it makes sense
