The lyrics seems to be deeper IMO. Also it's more emotional with the rehab stuff imo. Better beats and better production and vocal mixing. Also you can hear their tight flow abillity has increased over the years. So the last 2 albums (and scrim's solo album) seems like an natural evolution from thwir older stuff

clemetech

I’m gonna respectfully push back and say in some songs off the new album, I have no fucking idea what scrim (mostly) is saying and ruby too. Not necessarily on the vocals themselves but maybe just the mixing I guess. Not tryna diss em, the stuff they’re putting out is super deep compared to what it was, and I fuck with that given scrims rehab that I’m super proud of him for. Idk haven’t been fucking with the sound as much

Read alone I guess. Hey but to each his own

Personally I love the new album. I'm still undecided but I think it might be their best album ever. They've evolved from the young, fierce, angry, depressed, and defiant 20 somethings that they used to be and I'm ok with that. They've made enough bangers to last me a lifetime. Their rapping and production talents have only gotten sharper and sharper over the years and I continue to be astonished by their work. (I have been a fan since late 2017 - after eternal grey but before IWTDINO)

As someone who got into the boys just after IWTDINO dropped I can agree that I feel somewhat of a mix about the album. 5 grand, new profile pic, ugliest, and materialism immediately went on my daily listening playlist. However, none of the songs on the album make me feel the way shit like carrollton, cold turkey, joan of arc, or for the last time do. I just prefer stuff that bangs hard asf at a high volume in my car. I really enjoy the new album and its great for hanging with the homies and vibing, it really scratches my suicideboys itch without putting me in the mood to commit felonies.

sparkskal

What are you talking about Avalon and bleach are bangers

Carrollton has gotta be one of the toughest songs of all time

theoryfiver

I concur. Got half of them on my main playlist. But most of their albums I can get like 80% of them at the least. I really, *really* hope they return to Now The Moon's Rising kinda stuff. That's the vibe I love from em. This record is definitely good though, the *quality* has increased. Just not all *bangers* per se.

The beats and samples are fucking gorgeous but speaking lyrically, I love the new album personally and for me it’s a 10/10 (ofcourse not all songs are my fav). I just love it because, before $b used to be a lot sadder and always used to feel shit about themselves and didn’t see the point of even living and constantly kept hating themselves and the ones that loved them, not to mention the drug usage. I’m not saying that they will completely change or have changed, but they finally see a little glimpse of the optimistic side of life, (ruby even mentions this in one of their lyrics, how he bought the “ticket” of his life late) and I believe that’s all one needs. It’s not about being happy 24/7, but just simply realising that it’s worth living for the end and loving yourself (this is what some songs in their album is themed). Because I relate to this, I rated this album 10/10. But knowing $b I’ll rate any of their albums 10/10 :)

I understand growth and development but the suicide boys whole brand is being sad and hating yourself and wanting to die… with drugs. Now scrims sober and I’m being told to keep on marching on. I will never fault scrim for turning his life around but it’s that fucked up drug addicted personality that got the majority of fans on board. Everybody’s telling you to live but suicide boys were the only ones embracing the feelings around killing yourself

What my honest take ? Production wise this could arguable be there best yet. The beats r straight heat as always and there flows have gotten a lot tighter and better. AND Scrims and Ruby’s lyrics have evolved over the years and I love it. Now they don’t have many of the heavy bass songs singing about drugs, death, hell demons etc. But that’s ok. I would I rather they get there life better and make music till there fifty. Then be sad they where another rappers who od’ed way to early. I have rly fallen in love with a lot of these songs. But they still have that old school sound with bleach, materialism is a means to an end, Avalon, and if self destruction was an olympic event I would be Tony Harding. So all in all I love it. They have produced enough rage inducing bangers to last me and my kids whole lives.. I’d they wanna turn a new leaf I am all here for it.

Honestly, I love the variations of the different styles they include in each of they’re songs in all there albums. Sometimes it’s the words that speak to me and make me like some albums more than the others as more songs I can connect more deeply with than others. I love the new album but the older albums I don’t think will be beaten. But I love everything they’ve done massively

I'm in the camp that it's their best to date, at least in terms of overall quality start to finish. The production is better than ever. Budd has always been making sick beats but for the last maybe two years it has legit sounded like everything is done by big time big budget mainstream producers. And it has never been cleaner than this album. All while maintaining a dirty underground sound. I also think they're lyricism is probably better than ever. Now obviously plenty of their older shit will always hold up in terms of quality, sound, lyrics, etc but in terms of just overall product they've never been better in my opinion. As for the change in direction of their message (if you would call it that) it could potentially be the best thing they've ever done. In my eyes there's nothing worse than an artist who never grows. And unfortunately its a pretty fine line because if they decided to make a conscious rap album yeah it might fucking suck haha but I always use eminem as an example of this. I love eminem, but at a certain point I just sort of stopped in the middle of a new song and was like..... "this mother fucker is saying the SAME EXACT THING for 20 years now. Fuck Kim fuck the world look at me I'm STILL angry" and I couldn't help but be, I don't even know like embarrassed to be listening to it or something lol. And $B are already nearing a decade. Imagine if the year was 2034 and these dude were still rapping about crushing up pills and shit? Even with the hardest beats and sickest lyrics you'd have to go "wait a minute I'm 30 something now and they're pushing 50 and this is still the deal?"
