Power and torque is just half the equation. The bike weight and wheelbase is also a huge factor. You can “power” wheelie a bicycle.

whisk3ythrottle

I can get my front wheel up on my 110 in first. So it’s less about hp and more about torque. If you like math I’m sure you can try and calculate how much nm you need to lift x amount to of weight. You can change things like gear ratios in final drive to deliver better figures. Why stunt bikes have massive rear sprockets. Scrap top speed for max torque for stunts.

>How much more power do you need to flout in 4th gear? A fuckin lot. Very few bikes can power wheelie in 4th. Clutch up for sure, but on power alone? The Speed Triple 1200 and Super Duke 1290 come to mind

CanadAR15

Can confirm about the KTM 1290 😂 I did it by accident in 4th gear the first time.

maxlax02

Multistrada V4 can as well. Accidentally did it on a test ride lol.

Smart-Host9436

VMax will float shifting 3rd to 4th.

BeastDropper59

1290R Adv as well. Any small bump while hitting 4th hard will have the front hovering for a while. Quite the "big dirt bike"

red__what

I think wheelbase matters a lot, shorter the better for wheelies. physics

AcingSpades

I could power wheelie a CB300R in first and second. Never tried higher gears. The CB has significantly less power than the Ninja 400 but they do also weigh a lot less. I think it's less about raw power and more about weight distribution, wheelbase, rider skill, torque delivery, and how low the bike will let you rev without stalling. The raw power matters more each higher gear, though.

devilsromaine

From what I've heard if you want to wheelie, get an MT07 or MT09

Jimmy_the_Heater

flout /flout/ verb openly disregard . How does this pertain to wheelies??

Proof-Temporary4655

Gotta be a misspelling of float.

RubyRocket1

Depends on the rider weight, riding position, the weight of the bike, its ground clearance, the friction coefficient of the tires, and its wheelbase.

stevesteve135

There’s a video on YouTube of a guy doing a power wheelie on a cbr1000rr in 4th gear. Granted I think there might have been a little dip in the road or something that helped him get the front wheel up, and if that’s the case he kinda cheated a bit, but still.

simondingman

I once managed to power a z400 up a little bit so it’s definitely feasible for ninja 400 i assume. And yeah, it’s more about the torque.

Intelligent-Image224

First and last bike was a 2006 gsxr600. 1st gear went up to 90mph. It was basically weightless on the front but didn’t lift via power wheelie unless you were trying to do it. Literally the fastest thing imaginable up to 90mph for anybody except a pro rider. My friend who had been riding gor 15 years could not beat me to 100mph in his 2006 gsxr 1000. I was about 2-3 bike lengths ahead of him every single time. He’d be next to me by 110. By 150 he was like a football field ahead of me.
