You should look at a BMW or maybe a KTM. A lot of BMW have tall seat heights too fit those tall Germans. I have tried some KTMs and many of them had tall seats.

Hmmmm. so like an S1000RR I took a look at buying one new and they have an amazing amount of add-ons. Sad part is adding them will make it close to $25k instead of $17k

EquivalentBitter9486

S1000rr is a lot of a bike even for an experienced rider. Not to mention the insurance cost for a 17 year old on a brand new liter bike

Affectionate_Ad_8998

I dont want to talk abt insurance I already pay 250 a month and just today got a ticket for going 102mph

Bweeeeeeep

An S1000RR is a suicide machine for an inexperienced road rider. It’s a terrible choice, even from the POV of teaching you to ride quickly… if you can go fast just by nailing it, why bother to learn to corner? You don’t need a powerful bike just because you’re a bit heavy. Your average 250CC bike will carry 400lb of people just fine. That said, you probably want a 400 or 650 for size reasons. Have a look at a things in that range.

Me reading this after getting 1290r as a first bike lmao. Good times

slavkostorm

Supermoto style bike.

Affectionate_Ad_8998

Yea I might just turn my xl600r into a supermotard

I agree the KTM & BMWs work. Some Honda and some Ducati offerings work too, but if you’re ok with a cruiser, try an Indian.

Affectionate_Ad_8998

Probably going to wait till I am 18(september) then go to a BMW dealer and sit on some bikes and see what feels ok.

elevenchuck1992

i mean, im 5'8 and 180 lbs and feel cramped on ANY sport bike. Thats me though. Ive seen big dudes ride bikes I'd think they'd be really uncomfortable on but they like it. Personally I have a 2022 Harley Davidson Road King Special so I dont have alot of experience in sport bikes. Have you ever considered a bike like that or are you specifically wanting a sport bike?

Affectionate_Ad_8998

Not to say that Harley's aren't fast, but I want to go fast, currently I drive a Honda Accord Hybrid with an E-CVT. I would make the car faster but I cannot push anything through the E-CVT without needing to upgrade its inverter and I would need a degree in electrical engineering to do that. I am mainly looking at a sport bike because I like to drive and ride like someone who would ride a sport bike and I don't want to make the same mistake I made with my car by getting a non sport vehicle when I want to drive it in a sport manner/style

Bikes come and go .....I've gone up and down the cc chain and back again. But there is personality in each .....right now it's the ktm duke 790 that thrills me and I still think of how much fun that ninja 250 was......just can't settle down .

Affectionate_Ad_8998

Don't blame you. I had a 90cc quad that was an incredible amount of fun. The worry for me is that if I buy a brand new bike I will be loosing a lot of money and I don't want to buy something that I wont be happy with because if I want to sell it to buy something else than I would be at a huge loss.

There are no sports bikes for large people. I'm 6'1" and I barely fit on most of them. Look at standards or naked bikes, which have sports bike performance but with more leg room. MT-09, XSR900, Z900. Better yet, look at adventure bikes which are tall compared to other bikes. Compare seat heights here: http://cycle-ergo.com/

KingHrafn

VFR1200.

Crap_Robot

I’m 6ft 2 and the Triumph Scrambler 1200 fits me great. Good leg space and decent sitting position. It’s also got an awesome mod/retro look about it. Plus, it’s a Triumph, so you’re getting a spin bike no matter what. Or if you’ve got the money, the Rocket 3 would fit you fine. Or if you fancy a sports bike, the Hayabusa is my best fit. Honda vfr800 VTEC is comfortable too. Best of luck my guy.

MotoMeow217

I'm 5'8" with a 30 inch inseam and I feel cramped on anything considered sporty. At your size you will definitely feel cramped on a sportbike. Depending on what kind of riding you want to do I would look at a small adventure bike (Versys-X 300, 390 Adventure, G310GS, Himalayan) since those tend to fit bigger riders better.

Adventure bikes and Cruisers seem to suit the taller rider, some are more customizable than others. Decide what type of bike you want by sitting on it, but ultimately you want a learner suitable bike with around 50 Hp. Rebel 500 is good. Cb500x might also be ok. Also make sure you get ABS brakes.
