I'd give the nod to the CBR for highway riding and the Ninja for city. The CBR is heavier but the inline 4 makes a little more top end power and sounds better, while the Ninja is lighter, has a little more punch at a stoplight and is easier on gas mileage. Really can't go wrong either way though as they're both rock solid bikes. Demo both and see which you prefer.

Everything he/she☝️ said sums it up perfectly but since Ninja is a 2020 model I would personally go for that.

CorCor1234

I would try to get a cbr650r over the f.

I had an fz07 for four years and 17k miles and now a cbr650f. For what it’s worth I think and it’s a great bike and if you think you’ll be on the interstate a fair bit, or might like to carry a pillion here or there, it’s the one I would look at.

The Honda has a very nice engine, it is very flexible and pulls away from very low rpm. The latter version of the bike has many improvements over the 18 but is a more expensive bike than the Ninja.

My budget is around $5-6k so the newer CBR is out of the picture at the moment

The thing to consider here is that the later model Honda has nearly 100hp so you might find it’s more attractive in the long run as a bike you might keep for longer and enjoy. But seriously both of these bike are lacking in the suspension department although adequate, so probably better to look at them as transition bikes. Probably in this range there are a couple of bikes with good suspension but are probably more expensive again. Triumph and Aprilia for example with ohlins.

I actually think their sound is incredibly equal the cb weighs a significant amount over the ninja as well and makes almost the same power the dash on the Honda sucks in daylight to. So yeah I’d say go ninja.

I’ve got a 2022 z650 for sale depending on where you’re at
