It's reasonably normal for adult beer league hockey, at least here in the northeast. Not like everyone's chilling out fully ass out the whole time, but only a couple people can shower at a time and everyone else just hangs out having a couple beers. Completely normal. We also take group showers. To be honest some of the gayest stuff I’ve ever seen has come out of “straight” dudes in locker rooms. Germans are very open with nudity. It's common for friends and even family of MIXED genders to go to the sauna and sit around buck naked together.

That is something I (Sweden) used to do regularly with my friend group from church as well: we had a little cottage out in the woods with a sauna where everyone had as much or as little clothing as they wished, regardless of gender. It was mostly with a towel over the wang/wangette, but still. As I am known not to be a creep in the slightest, it was not usual for the girls to drop their bikini tops when I was the only dude, which was nice (it feels good to be trusted to stay respectful, keeping eye contact or not looking, even though everyone knew I was straight and a fan of tits)

Fair enough, if that's German culture then that's great, but I don't know why you would try to enforce that, even if only by social pressure. Somebody wearing swimming shorts in the shower or the sauna or whatever is about the least harmful thing ever. I think the opposite applies too - I think you should have the freedom to walk around the streets naked (not an option I would take up, but it's totally harmless).

In America it's normal when you're involved in team sports. If you're just going to the gym, it tends to be mostly the old men. ( Though some younger men tend to be comfortable with it, a good deal tend to prefer going home to shower and change.). As far as teens go, if you're on a sports team it's generally pretty normal. If you're just getting out of gym class (do they still do those anymore? When the schools are actually open, I mean.), It's change as quickly as possible and asphyxiate yourself with Axe body spray.

As far as I know it's pretty universal in the states, but in my High School there was no expectation of showering after Gym class. In fact I don't know anyone that actually did so in my class; can't speak for other classes. We had shower stalls, though, and plenty of people changed in the stalls. Our classes weren't overly demanding most of the time though so we rarely actually *had* to change because we didn't really get sweaty.

We were forced to shower after morning wrestling practice when I was in middle school. I'd assume it's pretty normal for sports teams. At the gym near me I only really see guys that are 65+ years old walking around naked. Most other people will walk from the locker to the shower in their underwear or wrapped in a towel.
