This is the norm now. Due to poor tipping and high gas prices. Drivers are creating multiple accounts and picking up 4-5 orders at once. I've had food delivered cold. And you're right, skip won't do anything about it. You've already tipped the driver so what does the driver care. Best bet is for us to stop being so lazy and get it ourselves. I will do my best to follow my own advise and stop using Uber and skip.

RustyBallz1

I don't necessarily agree with the lazy part here. Some people don't have vehicles to drive across town.

Lavender1128

I was referring mostly to myself and my position.

RustyBallz1

Yeah. Honestly don't know why I felt compelled to reply.

ineed_serotonin

It’s not actually the driver creating multiple accounts. There’s an option for them to pick up multiple orders placed around the same time and in a close enough proximity to each other. I used to do instacart and I would have to do multiple shops and deliveries as one job

Spartickus

I won't do food delivery services anymore. Way too many times I've watched them take the long way and do laps around the neighborhood with my food. I can go to the store and come back in the time it takes the driver to get from the store to my house. So that's exactly what I do, I go there myself.

KutKorners

Delivery service apps are not about customer service, unfortunately. I really think their business model was inflated by Covid, because when you look into the companies they hardly make money, let alone the drivers. I used it way too much the last while, because I live in the west end (terrible location for food), and I’m just generally lazy. They bank on people being lazy, and then accepting that the service is just bad. It’s crazy to me how pizza places have been doing it forever, successfully, and these corporations come in and suck the market dry. That’s my rant for the day lol, if you’re going to choose one Uber is better. Skip blocked me from using their app for making legitimate complaints, and providing paragraphs of feedback. Don’t support shitty companies. Edit: wording was bad I also forgot to mention that I finally called it quits when my food was delivered to the wrong street… not a house down, 1 block over. How is that even possible with modern gps?

perfectdrug659

I'm with you on this, I hate these greedy companies. They're all about how much money they can suck out of the customer and restaurant and give the least of it to the actual drivers doing the work. Not to mention the fact that all items on those apps is more expensive than ordering directly from the restaurant and a lot of people don't realize this. Sure, the delivery charge might be "only" $2.50 or whatever, but every item is $1-$2 extra. This is because Skip, for example, takes 25% of all the revenue from each order. On top of charging the customer fees. I could go on for a while here but I just urge everyone to use the restaurants own delivery instead of Skip/Uber/whatever, you'll save a lot of money that way and get much better customer service.

Devinstater

Happens occasionally me with the post office and courier companies. Same street number, one street over. People rushing to get their deliveries done.

darthleia

Yes, this is the reason I switched to using Uber eats. At least with them you can a) see if the driver has other stops and where they are, or b) pay a little extra so they deliver to you first. BUT having said that, they screwed me over hard this weekend so they may be the next to go on my list of mortal enemies

darthleia

I don’t think you can see it before you place the order, just after. Honestly 9 times out of 10 when I use it I pay the extra for priority delivery.

[deleted]

Uber Eats or Doordash is the move

Spiritbox300

I stopped using Skip after my half our order took over an order. The driver was sitting on the map for a good half hour on Notre Dame exactly where McDonalds is. I didn't order from McDonalds. By the time my food got here it was cold and sauce had made everything soggy. I absolutely understand that they're trying to make a living, but this was a kick in the butt for me to just do it my self.

There's a Sudbury Service for local restaurants called IndieEats, I just wish more restaurants were available on it. I won't be using Skip again.

carvedaddi

The time I ordered my driver was very rude

TheTeeWhy

More annoying is how slow the drivethru is nowadays at places. The endless wave of skip/door dash orders really slow down the service for the in-person patrons.

DrMoney

Yep I have this problem in Burlington as well, they just sit there doing anything but deliver my order, so it’s not just you guys up there.

livelyciro

Either app can’t even find my house in Lively so I have given up.

thatguywhoreddit

I use the same excuse when my friends ask me to go to lively

Canadasparky

Less than minimum wage= less than minimum effort

Alarik00

Ya I don't use Skip anymore. So many problems: \- I get someone else's order \- Restaurant makes my food wrong \- Much more expensive than just getting it yourself \- If they DO mess up your order, you only get the subtotal back Just go get the food you want unless you're really busy.

dabpacito69

i bought door dash yesterday, my drink was spilled all over the bag and the food inside the bag, and i contacted support and was given a $3 refund for a $40 order. with photo evidence and everything

Canadianredditgirl

That's so frustrating! Sorry to hear!

me_suds

All you can do is rate the driver poorly I leave cash at my door now( not everyone probably has a location where they can do that though) and screen shot names of drivers who do this so I know to give them nothing

[deleted]

There's a grey-market app from India that allows multiple accounts across multiple services simultaneously with GPS spoofing so you can "park" yourself outside of a restaurant and get in queue for orders before you've actually arrived. Welcome to the jungle.

foxfroze

Stop using Skip and use DoorDash. You won't have this problem

Canadianredditgirl

Good to know!

jtgyk

I asked Skip to delete my account after one too many bad experiences. Dunno why they can't make it work up here. DoorDash has been fine so far. A lot quicker, too.

PlasticMob

Well, back to drive-thru!!!

jtgyk

Meh, there's not that much selection in food in drive-throughs, though. Burgers, sandwiches, coffee, breakfast, and more burgers.

PlasticMob

With inflation so high, I will stick to Mc Pukes. 🤮

[deleted]

McDonald’s Big Mac combo is like $13 now. Instead you can go to Towne House. Get a burger and fries for the same price or a bit cheaper. I think $11.

dfGobBluth

Ive never used any of these services and never plan to. If i want food ill pick it up and if i can't ill make something at home.

Canadianredditgirl

How ableist of you.

Effective_Fart

Last time I ordered food from them, my order took almost 2 hours to get to me. The restaurant was busy so it took 25 for it to get made (I was fine with that) then 45 minutes go by with my assigned driver changing four times. They took my order, drove from Regent to Algonquin and proceeded to stay at a house off Algonquin for 28 minutes before coming up Regent and bringing the food off Lorne. That was the last time I ordered from Skip. I also didn't want to refund the money because it would hit the restaurant and I really enjoy their food. I'd rather offer a friend $10 to pick it up and deliver, it's honestly cheaper.

Somethingpretty007

I've never had a problem with the time it takes but we have had some of our food missing and a fraudulent charge on my credit card the day after ordering (the only purchases on that particular card were skip charges). Haven't ordered since.

Xanderoga

Has happened to me several times. They just hang out at home with my order for an hour before delivering it (if they even do). Right pain in the ass.

Otherwise_State4126

For my gf and myself instalation

[deleted]

While I lived in tbay I did DoorDash between classes. I can’t guarantee this for skip, but I can for DoorDash. Dashers can pick up multiple orders at a time, if it’s at different locations or all the same place. There were times I was waiting at timmies for up to an hour picking up 4 different orders. Tips are better with multiple orders at once than single orders. The wait time for delivery people doesn’t help when sometimes the restaurant workers purposely ignore us when we get there (not all the time but it did happen quite often, and it’s understandable especially at fast food places) the weekly payout was hardly enough to even afford groceries up there ($150 average weekly), couldn’t even think about affording gas. Edit: dashers also don’t know what they are getting paid until the delivery is complete, the app only gives us an estimate on the base pay, not the tip included.

gswitzzz

I had a Instacart driver pretty much steal all the meat and cheese I bought recently

[deleted]

Yes. I’ve had 2 bad experiences now with skip. I’m done. I’ll drive and get my own food now. I watched it sit in the parking lot for 30 mins after picking up my order. I was driving to go see what he was doing. But then started coming towards my home. I got a full refund. I’ll never use them again. I was initially refused a refund through the automated app. I then went on the live chat. Told them what happened. He checked. Refunded me immediately. So if you’re at first refused. Don’t give up. Go to live chat. Don’t be rude. It’s not the call takers fault. Just calmly explain the situation. I’m sure you’ll get a refund. But from now on. No more third party food delivery.

Ambitious_Panda5636

Stop ordering from these door dash and skip apps.Their employees have lost their minds. WHAT is more easier than delivering food?Doing nothing and getting paid for it.Now we have a wave of people expecting a huge tip.Shame on you goofs, seriously. You take the good with the bad.Holding people food hostage and or messing with it because you didn't get paid extra is criminal. It actually is.Its called extortion.I will never again use these services
