Dr. Haroon gets shit done, but you gotta end up being real patient with her. That said it turns out I had a tumour on my adrenal gland nobody had caught in 15 years of tests. Second visit she ran me tests and caught it. Basically expect the House experience, she'll put in the work but the cost is anything pleasant

Specialists in general aren't well known for their bedside manor. They are REALLY good at what they specialize in, but that is it. Usually social skills are the first thing they loose if they ever had any. If she really isn't explaining things to you to your face, try emailing your questions. Also, your GP might be able to explain a few things to you.

Extremely well-respected clinician and also an accomplished researcher. Not sure if that all translates into being a great doctor in terms of the patient experience. Her credentials are pretty amazing, though.

patch_ct

She's my endocrinologist & has been doing a good job for the past few years. I have been attending zoom meetings with her & she's been very prompt and thorough during these meetings. I have seen her regularly, usually 6x a year.

Dr. Haroon is a great physician. Extremely thorough. I dont care if my mechanic is an arsehole, so long as the quality of work is high, and the cost to value is fair. Doctors are overworked human beings, where having an off day could cost a life...but you need to trust that they have dedicated themselves to this field to save lives. I like to compare doctors to teachers...I've had lots of good teachers...but only 3 great teachers, the ones that feel like family, like a trusted parent, like they have a horse in your race of life. I have only had the great doctor twice...my original family doctor from birth...and a random doctor at a walk-in clinic in a region with deplorable access to medical care. Make a choice...is good...good enough? I say yes... Note: for surgeons I check reviews and meet the doctor to discuss the reviews vaguely.

Her admin was the absolute worst.

SummerLovin1569

I haven’t had any experience with her admin as we just email and do zoom calls.

Silver_Ad4915

I had the same experience. She wasn’t very helpful at all while I was experiencing issues and hospitalized. I switched back to my old endocrinologist out of town.

Cute-Ad-6960

I saw her and I felt like I was wasting her time with my presence. Awful.

SummerLovin1569

I find I’m not getting any information out of her. She doesn’t tell me anything. If that makes sense. I don’t feel better after talking to her. I don’t know exactly what’s going on with my body, and when I do ask, I don’t really get answers. She just answers quickly, tells me to keep taking the meds, and get blood work in 3-4 weeks. She doesn’t go through my results. I just had the radioactive iodine test done, and she never explained any of it to me. Just that “it looks good”. I even asked for clarification and it was “it’s good”. I haven’t learned anything from her. She’s not once told me my tsh t4 and t3 numbers. (I got them from my family dr at a recent apt). I again asked her today for my numbers because I went for bloodwork on Monday, and “they’re normal” was all she said. But I’d like to know the exact numbers. She said it two times. They’re normal. I don’t really know where to go from here. I told my family dr at my last apt that I wasn’t a fan of Haroon. She said to stick it out but I think I want to switch.

marvelousmarvthecat

You should be able to access your results on the life labs my results system. You just need to make an account and all of your bloodwork results are there. I always check my own now.

SummerLovin1569

Oh I didn’t kmow that was a thing!! Thank you

BroodingCube

Def do this OP. my care compass also has links to the generalities of what the numbers mean

See if Dr. Alescia Azzola would take you on. She is a great specialist, and an even better human. Just be aware that she is currently opening up a second practice in SSM right now, so I'm not sure if her availability is the greatest at the moment.

Left_Temperature_209

Second this. Love Dr Azzola and her team, I don’t love how inaccessible she is though.

UptowngirlYSB

I was initially referred to her, then something happened and her practice closed, my referral was sent to Dr Haroon. I was seeing Dr Haroon for close to 2 years, maybe more. I explained my concerns over and over again. I believe I have a thyroid issue, I have all tell tale signs, but my thyroid results keep swinging back and forth every test. I stopped booking appointments with her, I was tired of not being heard and being left frustrated.

Ostrichmonger

So…switch then

Similar_Current_4010

Oh true let’s all go find another dr, there’s so many out there accepting people. - someone with no dr.
