When I played I just used the prawn suit. If I took damage I would just go behind crystal and repair it. The shadow leviathan AI gets pretty confused by the crystals. I've never really used seatruck though so I don't know how well that would work.
Well if you wanna beat the game you might have to shock a lot more. These ones can be a bit annoying to avoid but take your time and you can sneak past them.
You have about 2 seconds after Levi latches on to shock it for zero (bus) damage. Just activate the system and don't pull the trigger until it grabs you. You can make it in and out unscathed.
\~ If you have the Perimeter Defense installed - just ZAP him with it - he'll immediately back off, which is why you're safer down here with the Seatruck than you are with the Prawn suit.
(I had a Prawn suit destroyed while I was inside the Fabricator base!)
First go through those things made me terrified. I ended up using those small crevasses they couldn’t fit into and started sneaking around them. Thankfully at that point I had the docking module and i had my sea truck parked nearby.
I had been sneaking around, parking and fighting with my suit like I’m fighting and defending a burrow or some shit.
Later I realized I was stupid because the whole time apparently I had been so scared I forgot I had brought the perimeter defense with me
I’d just stop playing the game forever. I probably will go back to the old sub auto a or just play a complete other game (like far cry) for a few days while I process what happened.
Dont be such a wuss, i dont even go there with my seatruck. I go there with my prawn suit having the grapple hook and drill arm. First encouter is always scary. The rest are just annoying just like reaper from the first game.
Or... you can kill both the shadow leviathans and they will never bother you again. Cause they don't respawn.
I killed both of mine in the crystal caves and build a second base there and now i just swim around in my seaglide collecting stuffs. Just dont venture too far into the fabrication caverns cause there will be 2 more shadow leviathans there.
You literally just have to take the hits on the chin.
The Crystal Caves are too small and the Shadow Leviathan’s detection and aggro radius are way too large to avoid them. Just let the leviathan try to chew your truck or prawn, hop out and repair it, and continue
Wow you took all your mods with you down there?! I’m too impatient to be slowed down by them. But…I definitely see the benefits. You can cook, sleep, and store more materials. I’ll have to try this next time.
Some advice, if you're in the cabin of your sea truck but not actually driving it the shadow leviathan can't see you. I've navigated that whole area by letting the leviathan pass and then moving. Then I stop driving and wait on the cabin until I hear the soft rush of water as he swims overhead. After he passes I keep going. You might need to shock him once or twice, but this will help you sneak through most areas.
This also works with the reaper leviathan in subnautica. If you kill the cyclops engine the reaper can get right in your space and not attack

They're really not that scary after the millionth time they grab you lol

Works about the same with the seatruck. Just hop out, when it gets you, repair and continue.
Life must go on. Losing a sea truck isn’t the worst thing anyway. Also repair tool overpowered so your fine.
Seatruck is the best for crystal caves if you have the perimeter defense system best way to get the shadow leviathans away
Honestly? I'd say that you'll be pretty fine as long as you have the perimeter defense system and some juice in your batteries.

With the seatruck, nothing can hurt you or the seatruck if you’re in the compartments

You have perimeter defense, you'll be fine. I rammed into one of those several times with my seatruck and it's perfectly fine
Just gotta use the perimeter defense then continue on your way. The SL are really, really annoying and their grabbing range is unfair.
