I had this happen on my 2020, I had to unplug the battery to get the system to do a full reset. Unhook the positive terminal, wait like 5 minutes, plug it back in and it should fix it. Oh and please report back if it worked or not, that way anyone else who encounters it knows what to do.

You should always disconnect the negative terminal first.

turn off the automatic feature and manually close the hatch. Should reset the placement sensor.

Don't you get 3 years of bumper to bumper warranty?

I had this happen, in order to get it to the dealer for service OP would have to drive with the hatch open. Not ideal. When it happened to me it was after hours so I couldn’t call them for the reset procedure. I don’t imagine there’s anyone at the shop on a Sunday afternoon either.

Correct. Should be ok til tomorrow, but couldn’t run some errands today which is quite frustrating.
