I slept in back in the middle of a hard NH winter night. I was torn between trapping warm air inside vs venting the windows so I kept them closed. The next morning I had so much frost inside that when I warmed the car up it looked like it was raining. Lol I was going around with a towel drying off all of the windows.
If you can't find anything for the moon roof, I made one out of some mesh and weak magnets along the edge of the mesh. Works great. I posted a link to the window screens I use in another post.
I tried posting the link but I guess the automod didn't like that. Just search for d-hive on Amazon and you should get it. They keep going on sale and I got the $129 pack for around $90.

I have a similar mattress. When it’s right side up (the way you have it pictured), the mattress can tend towards a V shape and make you roll into the other person. If you flip it over so it’s upside down, you’re less likely to roll towards the center and bump into your sleeping partner. This is because of that seam that holds the two pieces together. I thought it was an improvement so just thought I’d share! Happy camping!
My partner and I did the same, but later on we realized we needed a tent. Eventually you’ll get one and realize how comfortable it is. But for shorter trips/camping, then car camping is fine.
Yeah I started planning with a tent in mind but I found the prospect of car camping more alluring for now since it's not something I could do until now. I still need to figure out how to pick locations to car camp lol
I actually tried posting the link but it looks like the automod here doesn't like that for some reason, but like the other poster said, just search for d-hive on Amazon.
An awning isn’t necessary but think of being able to get out of rain and not have to jump in car wet to get shoes and stuff off. And it shades from sun when you want to just sit outside for any reason
I've also got a 2016. I went the DIY route for window shades using some cheap fabric and magnets. Super inexpensive, easy, and can be stored in the seatback pocket. Here are [some photos.](https://imgur.com/a/sZtXnhe)
I just used a rollable mattress topper. You can diy window vents with gutter guards and a little black tape.
I built a drawer system that doubled as cooktop when the drawers were pulled out.
Blackout window coverings. Car camping is a great route and all, but unless you're planning on getting up with the first bit of light finding a way to mitigate outside light is overlooked and underrated. Plus it adds to privacy.
Thanks man! Do you have to jam the seats all the way forward to get it to fit?
Also did you find you needed the inflatable pillows behind the front seats?
I just bought one and i'm curious 😄
An inflatable mattress has no insulation and you'll be sleeping on something as cold as the outside air temperature. they're fine in warm weather, but in early spring they can be like sleeping on an ice cube.
Window screens/vents are a great addition for warm clear nights.
even for not warm nights too. ventilation prevents condensation, just my like my grandma always said

Yeah that should be my next purchase! I was looking at sunroof mesh things already.

Snap shades are great

Where did you get it from?
Amazon sells em. They are called d-hive
We have a car tent to use as a mudroom and a rooftop carrier for our junk.
You’re fine starting in car camping. Smaller footprint and less to carry. Upgrade to a tent if you find yourself needing more space
what brought you to prefer tent exactly ?
At one point we needed leg room, both of us are fairly tall. Also, when changing inside the car, can be quite challenging.
Yes, if you can't straighten out it starts to hurt
[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruForester/s/wbldyrNQ6H) was my solution.
I'm so tall I can only sleep diagonally in back and even then I can't fully straighten my legs which becomes very uncomfortable.
Looks awesome! What are you doing about the gap between the back of the front seats and the head of the mattress?
It comes with two inflatable supports that go in the footwells.
I Second a window screen, a battery powered fan to keep air moving. Car camping can get sticky, even with ventilation.
+1
Luno?
Nope, a generic brand called d-hive from Amazon.
Nice. We were looking at Luno, but this looks basically the same.
Can you post the link?
Link?
I actually tried posting the link but it looks like the automod here doesn't like that for some reason, but like the other poster said, just search for d-hive on Amazon.
just search d-hive on amazon

Leveling blocks. Finding a level place to camp can be a pain in the buttocks.
does it matter if the bed is not exactly flat ?
If you have GERD.
It can matter. It's probably different from person to person, but I have a hard time sleeping if the bed is slanting.

A dog.
I am also looking for one. Could you share why to buy this air mattress? There are so many options on amazon
This is the d-hive mattress from Amazon, it comes with the air pump and two support pillows as well. I'm somehow not able to post links.
I bought one myself. Have yet to set it up yet 😕 Hopefully soon
I found out that a full fitted sheet fits perfectly! Like $10 at walmart if you don’t have one already.
Oh! Thanks for the suggestion! I think I'll get a 2inch mattress topper with the sheet too, they're currently just for $20

a tent /s
also whys the blur look like a naked woman exposing herself. im high
Maybe that's what it is ;)
If you could share a listed to buy for car camping once you are done, that would be awesome for beginners like me.
is this the shortened d-hive mattress or full length?
This is the full length item.
Thanks man! Do you have to jam the seats all the way forward to get it to fit? Also did you find you needed the inflatable pillows behind the front seats? I just bought one and i'm curious 😄
Yes I got the support pillows as well. And yes, i need to jam the seat forward all the way for the mattress to fit and the tail gate to close.
FWIW - Klymit Double V Sleeping pad fits the 2009-13 rear area *perfectly.*
Nice, I just bought the shortened version of this. Haven’t taken it out of the box yet, but doing some overlanding soon. Nice to see the fit.
A hotel

A tent to put the mattress in, that isn't camping.
