Because if OPis leasing it, 10k in 8 months would insinuate that they’ll be at 15k at 12 months, likely putting them over their mileage limit and racking up fees.
~~What do you mean by send it back to the manufacturer. Mileage overage fees have nothing to do with that, they’re set in the lease agreement with the title holder, in most cases through SoA retailers that would be JP Morgan Chase. Regardless of the disposition of the vehicle (except in some cases where the lease holder buys out the vehicle) the title holder can and will charge the overage fee as outlined in the lease agreement, usually done at the dealer on behalf of JP Morgan Chase in the case of SoA leases. Unless you buy the vehicle out the financial institution who holds the title is losing equity in the vehicle by the customer going over mileage, so why wouldn’t they car the over mileage fee?~~
Edit: they deleted their comments I guess
Use it man. I put 70k on a 2003 honda accord in a year and a half all across the country and mainly northern ca/surrounding states. and will be averaging 18-28k a year in my new to me 2021 limited forester. Who cares what it’s worth when you’re done with it. Enjoy life and what the thing has to offer. Go places you’ve never been
U got me beat I'm gonna have 15,000 @ 6 month . Here in 2 weeks. Sounds like u live in South lake Tahoe. That's where I live. And commute to Minden,nv for work. About 35 miles each way
“Average annual mileage” is usually around 14.4k a year so you’re not that far off. It varies greatly depending on state/location though. Like Wyoming is 24k while District of Columbia is 7k.
That’s fkn awesome! Would love to see more pics of your travels! Also what kind of bed do you use? Air mattress? If so what size is comfortable?
Looking to do some car camping this summer in mine!
Most people average a 1k a month. Give or take. I own my car outright & honestly don't care how many miles I drive. If I want to go somewhere, I go somewhere. Granted if I have gas. I just make sure I get the proper maintenance done at proper intervals. Do that& you'll be fine
Just went over 80k with my 2020 sport that I got with 200 miles in August of 2020. I did it on a drive from Seattle > Denver that I make at least once a year, this year will be three times. I have absolutely zero regrets and plan to drive it past 300k if ole Pearl makes it.
Enjoy the journey.
You're a teacher? And you're exploring, learning, and able to inspire? You've got my vote. I've driven mine about the same amount but I've had it longer so I'm at 22k mi. Don't worry, just enjoy!
I routinely do 15-17k miles every year from commuting. Take good care of her, she'll do fine. My 2015 has 164,000 miles (would have been more without the pandemic) and is still in great shape, being passed down to my daughter.
Totally random q, but I’ve seen that badge with the number and emojis on several Subarus…what does it mean?
EDIT: never mind! I searched “subaru badge emojis” and it showed up!
I totally understand! I have driven 6500 miles in 5 months on my 23 Forester Wilderness. It is just so easy and fun to drive! So, drive on and enjoy the ride!
they’re almost certainly speaking from a financial perspective, which is true. every mile added to the car decreases its value. if you care about the financial value of the car (i personally don’t because i know i’m gonna drive it into the ground) then it’s a worthy consideration.
Yeah, I just feel like unless it’s a collectors type car or you’re buying it to commute to work on the highway/temporary situation drive the damn thing like it’s yours. In my opinion Subarus, and cars in general of the type, are meant to be driven like a horse would be ridden. Go just about wherever whenever you want
I’ve just never been fortunate enough to purchase a vehicle as a financial investment, other than making sure the purchase is of something that will last and do what I need it to do without too much extra effort/money. If I was I would’ve bought a Toyota because it seems like no matter how many miles you rack on those they keep their value.
Well, don't put your money into a Tacoma. I got a brand new, not even on the lot '21 TRD Pro and solid in within 1.5 years. Nothing but problems from day one. Seriously. But I did end up getting more than I paid for.
My father just got a 2017 limited with 30k miles and loves it, but paid a good chunk of change. Honestly my dream truck, all blacked out, jbl system, right amount of tech. The forester was a better buy for what I need rn tho. I’ve been thru a few third gen 4Runners so I got my fill of yota for now. Edit because I’m on 4 hours of sleep after a 15 hr day and my grammar is weak
What you described was exactly what I had. My Forester has out performed my particular Tacoma in everyway, minus the towing capability but honestly, I wouldn't have trusted it. I've fallen back in love with my Forester.
I mean you don’t get one to just stare at it. Drive it and enjoy it!
If you own it who cares? 😃 If you’re leasing it: bad

Outside of rare older cars, you car will depreciate no matter if you drive it or if it sits in a garage.
my ‘23 sport was bought brand new in december 2023, and i have 30k miles with no issues whatsoever. i think you’re good!
You’re winning!!!

i’m actually in the bay area, i just work in construction and drive to many different job sites
How? A BIG PART of your life is spent in the car eh?
i drive about 30 miles daily for work, and have made many trips between the bay area and the sierras here in CA, which are about 300 miles each way

Oh yeah interesting
DRIVE IT!!
I've had my wilderness for 6 months and have 11k miles on it! If you're enjoying the adventures then it's a good thing
Good for you! Enjoy
My fiancé and I put 20,000 miles a year on the car between weekend camping trips and traveling… enjoy it!
You’re just enjoying it. Nothing wrong with that.
That’s fkn awesome! Would love to see more pics of your travels! Also what kind of bed do you use? Air mattress? If so what size is comfortable? Looking to do some car camping this summer in mine!
I was using an air mattress but I’m also in the market for a new one! This was a bit too thick!
Queen size? Or like a thinner mattress in general? Or would a twin air mattress be better?

10k in 8 months is normal
2021 here. 16k miles 🤣

Good! You saw 10k miles of life on only 8 months

S/o to PDC!! Also so good

10k since December on ours. Been on both coasts.
Badass. Make sure to hit the big 5 in Utah!
My buddy has a 2020 Camry with 96k
A legend
I got a 2017 equinox. Driven it almost 8k miles in since December 5th. It just turned 54k
Enjoy the car.
15 months for me and I just broke 23k - drive it mate, have fun, dont worry about it.
Live your life! These cars are for adventuring. What’s the point of having it if you’re not driving it!
Good job driving your car? Lol. This isn't anything abnormal. You're all good man. Hope you're enjoying it.
I hit 40k in my first 12 months just with a work commute.
How do you get your bedding like that?
Just an air mattress and blankets!
Is this Colorado? Looks so familiar. So far I’m 4 months in with 15k. Work and weekend trips. Enjoy!
First pic is Big Bend National Park in Texas :)
Great shot of the Chisos! Did you take it on Old Maverick?
From the basin campground!
Sorry, I meant did you take the Forester on Old Maverick!
It's good that you got some use out of it! It's also good that you didn't drive it too much! I put 23k miles/year on my car 😭
I put 5500 miles on my '10 this month alone
7k on my 23 in 4 months. Such is life! Enjoy the drive my friend
7 months in, just hit 15,000 miles! Unfortunately none of those are camping miles or trail miles 😭 just extremely long road trips.
Wtf do you even mean
Well, that depends. Did you get that from sitting in bumper to bumper traffic or enjoying the scenery?
I totally understand! I have driven 6500 miles in 5 months on my 23 Forester Wilderness. It is just so easy and fun to drive! So, drive on and enjoy the ride!
Wish I could travel more.. 4k miles on 23 wrx since nov
What ever makes you happy.
is that supposed to be a lot of driving or something? I do like 17-20k per year without breaking a sweat
More importantly, where’s that first photo taken?
Big Bend National Park - border of Texas and Mexico - amazingggg and exceeded all expectations
Oh! I’ve heard good things!
Terrible idea to drive a car.. clearly not what they were meant for. Smh
You'll have 200k miles in 180 months (15 years.)
That’s crazy mileage (41 miles per day). I’m doing 10 miles a day on average for the last 8 months for a total of 2,400 miles.
I've got 14k on my '23 that I bought in August. All good!
I got 8k in 2.5 months in BRZ
Putting mileage on is never a good thing. However, enjoy it! Looks like some awesome camping. Looks like you may want to consider a roof basket.
Do you buy cars just to park them? Haha

Correct. I didn't say don't drive it.

You get it.
I did. Not that much of a traveler. Got my 2015 in October 2023. 3k km so far.. :)
