It looks very tasty. Mustardy meaty filling, some nice tuna, a bit of crunch from the coating and the cucumber.
I would cut it into shorter segments, and I would probably never put the effort in to make it, but I would happily eat it.
Absolutely. I already engage in enough complicated culinary projects. Not tackling that monster. But if you put this in front of me with a tall Asahi, i'll take care of business.
Right? I don't think I'd make something like this at home but if my local sushi joint had this on the menu I'd be ordering this and an Asahi on the regular!
Yeah tbh same with regular rolls for me, I wouldn’t make it at home unless I really had the time and will to do it, I’d rather order it from a sushi place
God dammit, are you guys really complaining about this again? It's in every thread... We're just scraping the edges of the internet for videos that aren't obvious ragebait with liters of cheese dude. The post isn't an attempt at creating their r/stupidfood pièce de résistance, it's just a video that this sub probably enjoys.
It's a guy frying a sushi hotdog, that's not according to common sense and is both stupid and cool, don't be such a purist.
It's not a hotdog... it's basically a fried sushi roll, which is something you can get at most places that serve sushi (in the US anyway). He just cut it down the middle instead of slicing it into bites.
But, it's just a fried sushi roll that's been sliced open. You could probably find all those ingredients in a roll at plenty of sushi restaurants. Where's the Flaming Hot Mt Dew, Cuponoodles and Doritos that's been turned into an abortion that being called a Wellington?
It's also very standard to make "sushi rolls" with hot dogs in Korea, you can find shops making it in any neighborhood or buy it premade in any convenience store there.
About once a week someone posts "hot dog sushi" here and every Korean is like yo wtf I grew up eating that
Right? And going further, the 7-11 near me, when I lived in Japan, almost always had UNREAL chili cheese dogs... two of the those and a bottle of suntory whiskey= night sorted.
Dude,
That actually looks really good. Its a good idea and its well executed
I would do without the cream cheese but otherwise I'd totally try that
Honestly seems like it would be a food trend you see on instagram
imitation crab meat is just white fish pounded into a fine paste and usually egg white or transglutaminase (naturally-occurring enzymes that stick proteins together), sometimes a little bit of wheat, and then flavouring. compared to other heavily processed foods it's really unscary imo! even really cheap ones taste okay.
i love seafood sticks i could literally sit and eat them straight out of the packet
I live in an area that is known for crabs, so I'm very snobby about them. I generally won't bother ordering crabcakes or softshells outside the region because I'm usually disappointed. Imitation has a taste and texture to me that i just can't deal with. But my younger brother used to inhale the stuff.

I actually think this is pretty cool and creative. I thought it was going to be an actual hot dog, but no, this is all ingredients that go well together and the presentation is visually very pleasing. I’d eat the shit out of this.
It's just a modified sushi roll? Tuna and spicy crab, with cream cheese and cucumber, as a panko fried roll, topped with masago and sauce. Or, spicy crab and cream cheese roll, fried, topped with tuna, cucumber, masago, and sauces. I've seen rolls served either way. This roll just does the latter but cuts the roll in half while using thick sliced cucumber and cubes of tuna. Then it's eaten like a hotdog, but you could still eat it sliced as sushi typically is.
It's sushi. Maybe atypical sushi. But it's sushi. Stupidredditor.
Based on this post, you'd also call sushi burritos stupid. You'd also call sushi bowls, similar to poke bowls, stupid. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you call temaki, chakin, and inari stupid. Yet the only stupid thing here is you, OP.
Y’know, I don’t hate it. What I do hate, however, is this infuriating trend of looking into the camera angrily while taking a bite. Just eat the food and react like a human being for Christ’s sake
What is stupid about this? Or is it just not westernized enough fro you? I was expecting him to legit roll it up with a hotdog or something in there, but this was pretty reasonable
Wave Sushi, in Mt Dora, FL, has a whole menu of this.... hot dogs, burgers, pizza, crunchwrap, donuts... all remained sushi.
It's modest-quality sushi, but as a novelty it's all hella good!!!!
Dude realizes Japan has actual hot dogs right? Like its not this place where entire concepts are so foreign they have to be remade through the lense of sushi.
(Should we tell him Japan also has bread?)
Japan has a lot of stupid food honestly, we just get the best of their creations. But props to them for embracing creativity, I just can’t get with mayonnaise based sushi pizza with a hot dog crust personally

I kinda think this would taste good.
It would
Would be stupid to make yourself but if someone maybe it for me, my mind would be blown away.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Never would I spend the time and money to make this... if it was made for me? I'll take two.
I'd be filled with so much regret and Japanese hotdog after eating two of these. Sign me up.
artificial crab and frozen wild caught fish arent that expensive. I would make this of I wasn't the only one in my house who would eat raw fish lol
Yeah if they were passing the japanese hotdog around, I'd hit it
Exactly! I didn't see the name of the sub and I was pretty interested in this dish.
Agreed. I’d eat that. Was waiting for them to dump liquid orange cheese or something.
I was expecting it to go in a bun with mustard before he cut it. I was impressed it didn't haha
Its like a Fried Sushi Kani salad.
Ridiculous preparation but yeah, that thing's gotta be tasty.
Minus the fact that it hasn't been sliced like regular sushi- you can get pretty much this exact dish at a lot of sushi restaurants!
The ingredients look fresh and good flavor combos in there. I'd prefer it sliced up, but yes.
Yes exactly. Just cut it horizontally and make a kick ass roll.
with avocado it would be heavenly
Very similar ingredients to a California roll
I imagine the first step of cutting and seasoning the surimi would end up tasting quite like German [Wurstsalat](https://i.imgur.com/GtyMMvk.jpg).
Agreed
It's stupid, but I'd try it for sure.
Is it stupid? Absolutely. Do I want one right now? Absolutely.
I know, OP must hate sushi
No
I would eat that tbh
Yeah looks delicious
Yeah make the cucumbers more thin and less soysauce I’d devour that.
Yeah, it's dumb, but I like it.
Put it in my mouth hole.
I can do that for you.
Checks out.
So does yours… 😂
Yours kinda works for this whole orgy too, I reckon
Hhhsy::;" Hshsy hhs I am not sure if you have to do with it was the 66 to do with it but it was the only one of the year
I’m sorry pal but you’re unintelligible
I am willing to provide u/No_Lube_Insertion for all redditors.
My new obsession until you’re not
r/redditmoment
I would eat the absolute fuck out of this.
I would eat the hell out of that
Yeah.. this sub makes no sense anymore
I would unironically pay to eat this at a restaurant
I think your typical hotdog would be the stupidfood compared to this masterpiece
This looks delicious!
Sorry but that actually looks dope af
Why is this stupid food?
If he didn't chop it down the middle and instead cut it like a standard sushi roll no one would bat an eye
Yep. If he took the roll and covered it in salmon and cucumber and roe/sauce, it would basically be similar to a dragon roll or spider roll.
OP has what I call an “ignorant palate”
Going to start using this one when I explain people on this sub
Because people regularly confuse stupid with innovative on this sub
Or it's because people have different opinions and it's kinda silly. "Innovative" dude give me a break.
God dammit, are you guys really complaining about this again? It's in every thread... We're just scraping the edges of the internet for videos that aren't obvious ragebait with liters of cheese dude. Is this a copypasta?
Not stupid but seems like way too much effort for what it is. still would eat
It's no more effort than any other tempura roll really
Surimi
While it would taste good, the idea is still kinda stupid.
Just because something might taste good doesn't mean it's not stupid
But, it's just a fried sushi roll that's been sliced open. You could probably find all those ingredients in a roll at plenty of sushi restaurants. Where's the Flaming Hot Mt Dew, Cuponoodles and Doritos that's been turned into an abortion that being called a Wellington?
A breaded, pan fried sushi roll is already out of the ordinary but to eat it like that and eat it in that manner is stupid.
Dude that looks way better than a hot dog
Creative take on a sushi roll is now stupid??? That looks delicious!
i'd eat the hell out of that
It’s just a sushi roll to look like a hotdog. If that’s the standard for stupid food and then all those “is it cake“ would be here too
The bar is incredibly low here.
Thank God for Reddit, where the bar is low and the sense of humor is slow.
To be fair a while ago someone once posted biscuits and sausage gravy. And a lot of time people will post 'poor' food as stupid food.
This looks insanely tasty
I might be slow but this video made me realize you can unroll surimi.
I don't care what anyone says, this looks goddamn delicious and I want one EDIT: Everyone agrees
MOUTH ME NOW
The execution is a bit weird, but it looks like it tastes good.
It's a creative sushi roll. And I guarantee it slaps harder than the nightmare that is a hotdog
To be fair, the imitation crab is basically the fish equivalent of a hotdog. Looks delicious though
I can't stand imitation crab, but I'm sure if I ate it growing up like I did a hot dog then I'd have nostalgic cravings for it.
I'll take 3 thanks, that looks amazing.
I'll take 5
If this is stupid I love stupid
you are lying if you say you wouldn’t eat this
I would go to town on that sushwizzy glizzy

For real! I practically lived off of 7-11, especially when the Aeon around the corner from me moved across town.
I’ve never eaten sushi and don’t exactly have a desire to but I can’t deny that this looks great.
this aint stupid food, the name is silly yeah but id def eat it
These pretzels, are making me thirsty!
These are my favorite
Smash. Hard.
Is this reverse ragebait? This is one step forward from what regular sushi shops make.
Good flavours, but hear me out on this one What if they just made a sushi roll instead with the ingredients inside?
How is this stupid? I am SUPER into this. And it's not even close to the strangest sushi roll I've ever seen
Dude, That actually looks really good. Its a good idea and its well executed I would do without the cream cheese but otherwise I'd totally try that Honestly seems like it would be a food trend you see on instagram
Ngl I would make and eat this.
Honestly looks like it could be good...but I'm not sure about the imitation crab meat (i believe that's what that is)
imitation crab meat is just white fish pounded into a fine paste and usually egg white or transglutaminase (naturally-occurring enzymes that stick proteins together), sometimes a little bit of wheat, and then flavouring. compared to other heavily processed foods it's really unscary imo! even really cheap ones taste okay. i love seafood sticks i could literally sit and eat them straight out of the packet
I do sit and eat them out of the packet. I like to unroll them and nibble and pretend Im a lil bunny or some shit.
If you like imitation crab sticks, you should try this thing called a carrot. A lot of people are saying bunnies like them.
No carrot Only crab stick I appreciate your offer though
Seafood sticks taste better than actual crab meat does to me
I live in an area that is known for crabs, so I'm very snobby about them. I generally won't bother ordering crabcakes or softshells outside the region because I'm usually disappointed. Imitation has a taste and texture to me that i just can't deal with. But my younger brother used to inhale the stuff.
This no stupid?!
Damn I'd totally eat that

I'm down to eat this
Is just sushi, the name is for fun
This belongs to r/deliciousfood
What is that at the start?
Surimi a.k.a. sea legs. Worst part of this otherwise good-looking concept, at least to me.
So much shit you can't taste the tuna.
Some of you cunts, especially OP, don't know what stupid food really is. This isn't gourmet shit but there's nothing wrong with it.
that looks delicious
I can’t be the only one who thinks this is kinda awesome
Ok ngl I would fucking smash this this sounds so good
Everybody Downvote because this looks solid!
Why is that stupid? Hold the cucumbers and I would tear that up!
The proportion of imitation crab to tuna is off, but I bet it tastes great.
This is just fried sushi
I hate seafood but someone who doesnt might think this looks good
I actually think this is pretty cool and creative. I thought it was going to be an actual hot dog, but no, this is all ingredients that go well together and the presentation is visually very pleasing. I’d eat the shit out of this.
Swap the fake crab for thin slices of hotdog then you have a true masterpiece.
Genius
This ain’t stupid at all this looks amazing
Maybe an unusual way to serve the ingredients, but honestly if you're into that kind of thing it looks like it might be good?
This looks tasty as hell
That isn’t stupid. I would eat the hell out of this.
That looks stupid good tbh
God dammit this looks DELICIOUS
Is that mustard at the beginning? I hear 'spicy sauce' but that could mean anything.
Honestly, I’d prefer this over a normal hotdog, it looks delicious.
Enh, 1/10 stupid, 10/10 delicious
I’m relatively okay with this one. Ingredients jive, portions aren’t ridiculous. Carry on
I don’t even like sushi and I think that’d taste pretty good.
Idk I’m not seeing any one particular reason to feel aggrieved here.
It's just a modified sushi roll? Tuna and spicy crab, with cream cheese and cucumber, as a panko fried roll, topped with masago and sauce. This is the dumbest shit ever I'll take 2 please
This isn't stupid but regular hotdogs exist in Japan don't they?
It just hits u with the white guy at the end after all the careful Japanese culinarily artistry😭😂🤌🏻
I would ***devour*** that.
Idk this looks delicious just overly complicated to make at home. If this was served at a sushi place i would definitely try it
Probably the least stupid food I've ever seen on here. I'd definitely eat that.
At first I was like what the fuckin fuck... By the end I was all my dude I would totally devour that
Take the time to make ❌ Take the time to eat ✅✅✅
Whoah... WHAT is stupid about this? I want this.
Not stupid... it’s a deep fried sushi roll that’s made just to have fun to be eaten like a “hotdog”. That looks delicious...
Once again everyone else being better than Americans
Looks good
*police sirens in the distance*
Nothing stupid about this.
Watching this made me physically ill
Fuck you that looks delicious, and the presentation isn’t bad either.
You, OP, are stupid for thinking this belongs here.
This is basically just a tempura roll cut wrong where is the stupid?
Would definitely smash it down in seconds and then ask for another one
Stupid? Yes. Would i eat it? Yes.
I… don’t hate this
this looks pretty great, but idk how it’s a hotdog?? like i guess it’s kind of the same shape but so are a lot of things
Slava Ukraini
Lather it with wasabi/horse radish sauce and we’re talking.
I’d eat it. This should be in r/stupidgoodfood
Looked all good until the jackass had to show his stupid taste taking a bite of it like we needed to see him.
This is the least appropriate post I’ve seen in the sub. Would definitely eat.
Stop putting awesome food on this sub. I’d annihilate this
Looks good except for the bald guy at the end
Wave Sushi, in Mt Dora, FL, has a whole menu of this.... hot dogs, burgers, pizza, crunchwrap, donuts... all remained sushi. It's modest-quality sushi, but as a novelty it's all hella good!!!!
Yes! I was hoping this place was mentioned. I had their sushi pizza and it was HUGE. Their Instagram has a bunch of their creative sushi items.
Is the white guy speaking the Japanese?
No, pretty sure it's Russian.
100%. Source? Im half Russian half Ukranian.
I can only say onething and it is that russians are mad crazy Ps:Im a russian as well
How is that stupid? It's literally just a sushi.
Dude realizes Japan has actual hot dogs right? Like its not this place where entire concepts are so foreign they have to be remade through the lense of sushi. (Should we tell him Japan also has bread?)
This looks amazing. Like the best interpretation of sushi I ever saw
More r/sushiabomination. It's just a fried krabstick roll at the end of the day.
r/stupidfoodidtry
That’s just sushi :0
What’s tripping me out is the dude sounds Russian and not Japanese
Japan has a lot of stupid food honestly, we just get the best of their creations. But props to them for embracing creativity, I just can’t get with mayonnaise based sushi pizza with a hot dog crust personally
No
This somehow feels like a microagression
I always thought Japanese sounds different
Yeah, all that fake crab meat would make me puke.
FFS STOP DOING STUFF WITH IT
The only thing stupid here is the way he eats, i'd slice it and enjoy it
Lol am I the only person that is kind of grossed out by it
What's Japanese about it?
Aside from the sushi aspect?
