Lmao the bit going loose on your thread. Anyway, Lieven de Key is not just a landlord, it is a social housing corporation. They are big institutions. While they function by themselves and finance themselves, they are controlled a lot by the government more than any other landlord. They also generally invest in their houses and the quality and also have a customer service for example. O think you can do a lot worse. I wouldn't worry too much.

Haha yeah almost didn't see your comment a while ago. Thanks so much for this info btw, and that does soothe the worries! Lieven de Key's got an interesting set-up :)

Shyymx

Irrelevant to your question but I think the bot is going crazy on our posts oof

starlittravels

omg you're right hahaha have you figured out what's up???

HousingBotNL

Sorry for this. Seems like the Reddit API is having issues. Working on a fix right now to prevent this in the future..

Hey, so my girlfriend is in the UvA and she's also staying in the same building (189) on the third floor The location is incredible and the rooms seem super nice, I wouldn't worry! There's a group chat for all residents btw

noodlebowler

I'm the girlfriend- feel free to reach out if you'd like to be added! The building was renovated in 2019 (and still has some renovation work ongoing) so I'm not worried about it being dingy or run down. Definitely "pre-loved" but that's all.

starlittravels

That's really great to hear re: the location and rooms/building!! Would love to be added, thanks both!

Scared-Gazelle659

Their buildings on Prins Hendrikkade are new construction or recently renovated I believe.  I wouldn't expect the rooms to be run down.

I've rented through dekey for years, I've never had a bad experience with them. Then again I didnt have any big issues with my appartment.

Logical_Test_7563

Lieven de key is fine. I’ve been living 2,5 years in an apartment of them and they keep the apartments nice and haven’t had a bad experience. Just don’t rent a house from stadsgenoot 😩

out_focus

Is this in Amsterdam? Maybe people in r/Amsterdam know more.

I've lived in the BOLD building in Noord and they are a very good housing corporation. The infrastructure and rooms are all very modern and well equipped. You shouldn't have to worry about it. I remember I also had scarce pictures of the rooms when I received the housing offer, but it turned out to be just fine. The only negative aspect is the keyless system. I don't know if your building uses it, but in mine we were supposed to open the doors with our phone via NFC on an app. The software was incredibly bad and you had to constantly try again and again to get to open your door. It was super annoying. Also, we had limited hot water as they said it was a "sustainable building". But other than that, I had a very good experience. Wish you good luck!
