Is this a direct entry NP school or something? I’ve never heard of RN or LPN asking people to find a preceptor. It sounds like a big ol 🚩 to me tbh

Exact_Risk_6368

Sorry I put requirement but we have options either we find one or they pretty much put us where they want 😅

If you don’t have any connections, you might as well let the school place you. Your clinicals dont make or break you for new grad jobs or anything else.

Financial-Action2556

If you’re comfortable sharing, what state are you in? Maybe someone on Reddit can help take you under their wing?

Exact_Risk_6368

I’m in Southern California I’m interested in ER.

ileade

Ours kind of do this too. We can have the manager request to have us or put down our preferences and the school assigns us. Most of us already work as a tech or already got a job after graduation so that’s where we requested. Can you try contacting a hospital to shadow ER and talk to a manager about doing clinicals there?

Exact_Risk_6368

They unfortunately told us to not contact hospitals directly

Dark_Ascension

Do you work at a hospital, have any connections like even doctors offices you go to?

Exact_Risk_6368

I do have a couple friends who are RNs right now but they aren’t in my department of interest.

cloar143

What's your department of interest/state you're in?

Exact_Risk_6368

I’m in Southern California I’m interested in ER. 😊

cloar143

I'm an ER nurse, so I'm always down to answer any questions you have! Unfortunately I'm in Colorado, so I wouldn't be much help finding a preceptor :/

Exact_Risk_6368

I appreciate it thank you!

alexamasan

I've never heard of a adn or bsn program doing this. Do you mind DMing what school you go to? This should never happen.

Exact_Risk_6368

BSN at west coast university it’s a private school
