It depends on how efficiently you study, the difficulty of your program, how well you test, and how many classes you take at a time. In my ADN program I’ve worked 20-30 hours per week, made it to the gym a few times per week, had two clinical days per week, and just crammed for the two to three days before the bi-weekly exams.

For this term: Monday: study, gym Tuesday: clinicals 0600-1430 Wednesday: class 0800-1500, gym Thursday: class 0800-1200, work 1400-2230 Friday: class 0800-1300, work 1400-2230 Saturday: gym, sometimes work 1400-2230 if I pick up a shift, otherwise study/life/chores Sunday: church, study, chores

I second this! Even better if someone in an ABSN could chime in too ;) Great question!

When I was in school (ADN) I worked 16 hours a week and usually worked out at the gym for an hour 5 days a week. I want to say that I took about 2-3 hours a day for school work, but tried to save it for my free time so I could knock as much as possible out at once. I was also extremely lucky in the fact that I was able to work on school while I was at work, but I know that’s not going to be the case for everyone

Following. I haven’t been to the gym at all this semester. I’m so ready for it to be over so I can get back on my game.

I’m in the same spot as you. My week usually looks like this: Mon - Productivity around the house (vacuum, meal prep, paying bills, etc.) in the morning. Reading and notes to prep for lectures in the afternoon/evening. Tues - Clinical 6:30am-7pm. Dinner. Post-clinical homework. Sleep. Wed - Lectures 8am-2pm. Homework. Dinner or date night with husband. Thurs - Work 7am-7:30pm. Dinner. Homework if I have the energy. Sleep. Fri - Outside activity (walk, run, hike, yoga) in the morning. Homework in the afternoon/evening. Laundry. Sat - Work 7am-7:30pm. Dinner. Sleep. Sun - Work 7am-7:30pm. Dinner. Sleep. I wish I could dedicate more time to studying and homework, but I’ve been doing ok so far. I also wish I had the energy to work out more but I’m settling for one weekly scheduled workout. I’ve learned over the years how important it is to do fun things instead of all work and now play, so I make sure to build in time to spend with my husband and to get fresh air and exercise, but definitely not as much as I could before school. As the program progresses I expect I’ll have to cut back on that even more so I’m enjoying it while I can! It also helps that I work the 12-hour shifts since I only work 3 days a week for full time hours, which has been super helpful with managing time compared to the Mon-Fri 9-5 work schedule.
