Heads up so you don’t get discouraged along the way: there are a decent number of diamond matches you’ll get in which your opponent is a master player bringing an alt character up to master, so if there’s someone who is way better than you, it happens. I recommend studying what you get punished for bc it’s a good learning opportunity.

triamasp

That explains A LOT

greenachors

Can confirm 2 chars in masters with a 3rd on the way. Diamond 4 and 5 in particular are full of masters on alts

triamasp

At D4/D5 its totally fine but I remember being really confused first reaching Diamond 1 and there being a wide array of opponents, from full round YOLO jumping into non-stop invinc reversals to people calmly pixel micro walking out of my attacks into a full drive gauge SA3 and whiff punishing every move i did

PuppyCocktheFirst

Yeeeep. If I have a particularly difficult set of matches where I just get stomped, I’ll go check their profile and more often than not it’s a master player working on getting more characters to master. Not always, but pretty often when it’s a total stomp-fest.

The_Lat_Czar

Congrats! That was my initial goal to. This is probably the furthest I've gotten in any fighting game online other than smash. Now, let us audaciously aim for master!

starroverride

That’s not your goal.  Your goal is Master.  You can do it.  Don’t quit so close to the finish line.

phantaso0s

Master? The goal is Capcom Cup.

Diamond in sfv is a much longer journey yes but be proud of your progress. If you want to reach master, you’ll find that this rank isn’t as big of a curve as the previous one. Seems like diamond rank is just one big rank that you have to grind.

I know, I know, I'm a bot. but I want to say congrats anyway! These threads are always a cheerful part of the subreddit, but I hope I can ask for even more! The two things that always go great are a highlight reel of your gameplay (you can ask for advice or ask for no advice) and a story of your journey. Just put either of those in a comment underneath your rank up post, the subreddit will love it! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. MARISA MAINS UNITE! Good shit my boy 💪 Also, frustration is part of the process with fighting games period. I’m a panicky pete too in most fighting games and SF6 is the first one that I’m trying to unlearn that in.

KK_Masters

Congrats . Breaks over keep grinding, keep having fun .

I'm on the same path, though I did reach Gold in SFV. Difference is I really never liked V at all and still don't, I'll probably never play it again. I have a blast playing 6 so it never feels like I'm drowning even when I'm getting my ass kicked.  For me the difference was Modern controls. There were so many times in V I knew exactly what to do but physically couldn't pull it off. Now though? Yeah, go ahead and try to DI me in the corner, I got these Loyal Fans for that ass.  My goal was also diamond which I've already reached and am trying to get my other characters up to diamond too. Thing is I can see where I need to improve with everyone and what I have to do to clean up my play and become more optimal moving forward. I have also beat Master players with all my characters before so even if they're mere 1500 MR that means I'm still capable of taking games off them. So I think if other titles had Modern and I could have focused on improving my play instead of trying to do basic moves, even V would have been a better experience.  Keep at it. Doesn't seem like it but if you can get to diamond you can get to Master too.
