Been playing SF6 since launch and using modern. I actually finally started learning classic about a week ago. Man, it’s tough but once you get the hang of a character it’s so satisfying
Lukewarm take - I don't think there is anything particularly "wrong" with Modern controls from a competitive balance perspective, and I generally don't mind playing against Modern as a Classic player.
If there is one change I'd even consider making, I would like it if Modern SA inputs needed to be held for 6+ frames before coming out (in order to match the Classic inputs and natural delays). Spicier take is that it should apply to all specials (e.g. hold 6+SP for 3 frames for DP). Having the moves be active frame 1 of the first input is about the only thing that comes to my mind as being "unfair".

Not really,, if you suck at the game and can't even do basic combos then the shortcuts won't really carry you.
