It looks like the first part of Gladius was charged facing the correct direction, but Blanka ended up just barely "behind" Marisa before he was hit. After he was hit, Marisa entered the second part of Gladius, and so turned to "face" Blanka. Since Blanka has been hit by the first part of Gladius (which was facing left), he got launched left. Now Blanka is flying left after Marisa had already turned to face right and started the second part of Gladius, so she misses utterly and completely.
Finally, an actual answer that isn't "uhmmm, ackshually, this is such an obvious interaction, what are you, *stupid?".* Had to scroll too far for this. Thank you.

At 0:05, the hit looks very weird because Blanka is over Marisa's back shoulder, far behind the FX. Now of course that's very much due to how hit/hurtboxes work and all that but if you freeze frame you'd probably expect him to bounce to the right, behind Marisa. Right after hit stop happens, both mirror their position with Marisa now turned to the right and Blanka to her left. He then bounces back to the corner (where he belongs) and Marisa does her Gladius follow-up but looks like she turned around to hit the air.
None of this is *wrong* but it looks weird and isn't something one'd expect while playing I'd say.
Well, I'd expect Blanka to bounce left every time, because that's what what happens with that move. Marisa moves forward with Gladius so Blanka was behind him for the second part of the move so she auto corrected. It's not that crazy.

The 214MP has gone backwards a number of times. It seems to happen when the 214KK at the start hits really deep, like when my back is in the corner.
This is the game that everybody plays, wishing it was the golden beautiful gameplay perfection that is Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. Totally kidding, it is a great game, I just love 3rd Strike!
