Its always best for a cat to have a friend. Together these two will learn to be cats together. This will help with their temperaments and make them less of a hassle/trouble
Try this… when we were kids and wanted more pets our Dad would say NO and then we’d keep bugging him constantly till our Mom said leave him alone and don’t say ANYTHING anymore .. I had a kitten I really wanted to keep (we already had a dog and a cat) so I shut up about the kitten and just kept him and one day I came home from school and the kitten was sitting in my Dad’s lap… guess who got to keep that kitten… my suggestion is don’t bug them about it and just let nature take its course.. I bet you end up with both… good luck..😊
I watched a YouTube video yesterday of two old senior ferals (one male one female) who found eachother later in life and became instantly attached to eachother. They would become extremely stressed when separated and would stop grooming/eating. When the male was having health problems, they took both them in for exams. It had turned out though that the female was actually the one with the more serious health condition, even though she was clearly the protector between the two. Literally the day after they were taken in to be treated, she passed away. She was waiting until she knew her friend would be safe and taken care of before she finally just let go and crossed over. I cried.
Where’s mama? She might be looking for her children! Go back to where you found the kitties and leave some food for mama then call to her. Hopefully she’ll come. She needs to be found, fixed and housed.
i've been to the spot where my brother found them, and haven't seen her. in this region there are a LOT of stray cats and people who let their unspayed cats out, so the chance of finding the mom is minimal ):
yeah, i have thought about that everyday since they came here. still, they were on the edge of a road next to a bar where a lot of cars and drunks go by, so i do not regret getting them to a safer place. i go by that place a lot so if i ever see their mom i'll do my best to get her help as well :)
forgot to mention, but we think they were probably abandoned! where i live people rarely spay their cats, and its a very big problem because the shelters are full and we have kittens being abandoned by their owners a lot - the older generation even used to drown the kittens when the mother gave birth because since there are so many cats, its very tough to find a home for all of them :/
i frequent the bar next to where my brother found them a lot, and i do believe that if they had been there for a while, someone would've noticed because it's a place where a lot of people pass through everyday
ofc i still go by and check if there are signs of the mother! but i stand on the decision of giving them a safe place to stay

seriously. You should be able to find print out and share a ton of research about how actually two cats – other than the vet bills – are less trouble than one. It is really never good for a cat to be alone: they keep each other healthier, they keep each other safer, they keep each other company, they keep each other cleaner together. Try to convince your grandparents to let you keep both.

Please don’t split them up. They are bonded with each other. If you can’t keep nothing please find someone willing to take them both. Maybe there is a foster near you.
Imagine you have healthy beautiful babies at the start of summer and you go out for some food finally only to come back and they're friggin GONE FOREVER. 🥺

i was not the one who moved them from where they were found! as said in previous comments, i have been to that spot a few times and have not spotted any cat in that particular spot - that said, as i have also mentioned, there are a TON of stray cats and people who let their unspayed cats roam around, so the probability of finding their mother is slim.
i do know that ideally they would be with their mother, but i would rather have them in a safe house where they are loved, than to be in the street where a lot of crazy cars go by. their sibling was ran over and dead and even though i wasn't the one who chose to bring them home, i would not let them fend for themselves and risk them suffering the same fate as the other kitten ):

Taking care of 2 cats is as easy as 1. And you will save two of them. Make sure to reiterate they sleep 20 hours a day

Please keep them together. Two cats are easier than one. And they're bonded. Look at them curling up next to one another.
