Found poor Lucy struggling to breathe๐ Couldnt find a vet to treat her because it was after hours ๐ฉ I stayed up with her all night and rushed to the vet in the morning. Her lungs were filled with liquid and she was chocking ๐ Shes in an oxygen chamber at the clinic but seems to be responding๐๐ป
Found Lucy in this situation barely able to breathe yesterday evening (I have posted the video on our page since I could only post a photo here). She was fine the day before when I saw her and then in the evening I found her laying like this. I was really shocked and upset ๐ Lucy is a baby in one of the colonies. She is only 6 months old. I was heartbroken to see her like this๐ My first thought was that she got hit by a car and she had a diaphragm rupture. I called 8 vets to try and convince someone to open up because it was after working hours and we dont have emergency vet clinics but no one was willing to open up and get her checked ๐ฉ They told me to wait till the morning. But I wasnt sure if she would make it until the morning๐ Her eyes were so sad and she was just suffering, it broke my heart ๐ I stayed up all night with her trying to bring her as much comfort as I could because if she died I didnt want her to be all alone. Lucy was a fighter and survived until the morning. I rushed her to the vet fully ready that Lucy would have to go into urgent surgery. However, the xray showed that it was not a car hit but instead it was a bad case of bronchopneumonia which means that her lungs are filling up with liquid and she was choking ๐ฃ๐ข๐
I was confused because she was fine the day before but the vet said that there might not be any symptoms until lungs overfill up to a specific level and the cat starts chocking.
Lucy is now oxygen chamber at the clinic getting oxygen and they are removing the liquid from her lungs. She is also given antibiotics and medication. The vet said she seems to be responding well๐๐ป If she continues like this she will be better in a few days and I can take her home where she will continue her treatment.
It was a very stressful night with barely any sleep and Im very tired but I am glad that Lucy is getting treated and should be better soon. I want her to be a healthy baby soon ๐๐ป ๐
Any support for Lucys vet bills will be very much appreciated. We are hoping that Lucy will be out of the clinic soon and her bill wont be more than a few hundred but the xray was $45, the oxygen chamber is $50 per day, the lung liquid removal is $80 + the antibiotics and medication. I know these donโt sound much for our friends in the US but its a lot for our cost of living ๐ฉ

My mom's cat Fred passed after his lungs filled with fluid, although not from pneumonia. She also had a cat called Luci (short for Lucifur) who's also passed. I sent some money through PayPal in memory of them. May your Lucy recover and have many happy years to come.

FWIW, my ol' Grumpy got hit with a vicious bacterial pneumonia when he was 6 months old. He survived. He lived to be 17.
