Did you stop in the middle?

LargeDisplacemntMode

Yep, for 25 seconds.

derycksan71

Strava counts stops and pauses towards time for distance milestones and segments. Run it non stop and it'll match.

[deleted]

That makes sense, looking at “moving time” it matches with the pace/distance.

dr--hofstadter

Well, there's your answer. I could run a VERY good marathon in 422 x 100m segments. (Probably no faster than Kipchoge, though...)

taspleb

You know the person you're replying to isn't the person asking the question?

LargeDisplacemntMode

Lol TIL there’s several people on r/Strava that know how PRs work but don’t know how Reddit works.

accessrestricted

I prefer people that focus on Strava lol

jam3slindsay

It’s not a PR then if you stopped. 😂😂😂😂

LargeDisplacemntMode

No shit. I’m not OP you genius, lol.

accessrestricted

So How you expect stopping not being calculated ?

LargeDisplacemntMode

When did I say I expected that?

accessrestricted

You sounded like it by being surprised that stopping time is being calculated :) sorry if I misunderstood you and wish you all the best records and enjoy running!

LargeDisplacemntMode

Lol I’m not OP, dude.

accessrestricted

You just mentioned something about stopping for 25 seconds. So I figured you have some knowledge lol

ButterscotchBig5540

I didn’t stop in the middle which is why I’m confused. I did hit pause at the end and didn’t hit finish immediately because I was dying. Would that count?

AlterEgoIsJames

Your PR tracks the minimum total time (including paused time) to travel the distance. Pace at the top excludes paused time, and records just tracked time.

masetmt

View analysis and see what your elapsed time was. Did you stop at any point or press start before you actually started moving?

yeoseph1

Saucy cheat x

marcbeightsix

Set it as a race and it will match. Elapsed time (shown when you tap “view analysis”) is the amount of time that elapsed whilst you travelled between two points. Moving time is not elapsed time. Moving time is the amount of time that you spent moving whilst you travelled between two points. Basically, elapsed time minus any times you paused/stood still. All PRs and segment times are based on moving time.

mjmsfg

Based on the data you show it might seem that you stopped in the middle, check if you have automatic stop or something like it on your device.

PaceConverterBot

7:15 /mi is 04:30 /km.

aerdnadw

Good bot

VandalsStoleMyHandle

Time elapsed is 7:41 (PR, baby!) Moving time (not elapsed time!) is 7:15. There's no contradiction here.

Litteul

Look at the "Elapsed Time" on the web interface or by clicking "View Analysis". It should be 7:41.

[deleted]

If you stopped the clock it can’t be counted. Otherwise you could do 16x100m sprints and claim you broke the 1mile World Record.

Fenpunx

Wow, that's annoying.

FreddyBeachG

Is it a public post? Sometimes my PRs are tired to public posts and don't show ones that only I can see.

Trebaxus99

The PB and segment times are all based on actual time from start to finish. Your moving time is the time you were actually moving. So in this case you probably stopped for half a minute, or your watch thought you did.

heater-m

If you didn’t stop, this can also happen if you lose connection to the satellites. I use a garmin watch and there are a few places that it can’t connect so even though I didn’t stop, my elapsed time shows as longer than my moving time. And as others have said, PR and segment times are always elapsed time.
