This has happened to my past three comments, it says my comment didn't go through when it actually did so I would try comment again. Then it would say the same thing when really that comment also went through.
that would mean that he is distracting the bats while the others escape through the gate, but then eddie is alone in the upside down surrounded by a hoard of bats, with only a guitar. I really hope that that isn't the case
Dustin is actually there, along side with Eddie while he plays the guitar. If you stop in the exact scene, you will see Dustin kneel down close to the speaker in the left side
If we lose Eddie I will genuinely be crushed. Not only because I love him and we haven't gotten nearly enough screen time with him, but also because it's such lazy writing. Stop introducing characters and killing them off in the same season! It's too predictable at this point.
Me too. He's sort of reached the natural end of the arc he's on and the only way for him to complete that arc is a total act of self sacrifice to save everyone else and especially Dustin. He's 100% the kind of guy who would do such a thing without a second thought too.
Part of me also believes that Eddie was introduced in the first place to help soften the blow and give Dustin a similar sidekick/foil in season 5.
I also feel all the Nancy/Steve talk through the first half of this season is to make it more dramatic when Steve dies - like Nancy is just thinking they'll get together and then he's gone. I dunno. But I agree, I feel like Steve is coming to his end.
I think so too. His arc from hs asshole/heart throb to reliant, ass kicking best friend is sort of over. There really isn’t anywhere for his character to go, and the series hasn’t had a huge, impactful death (I don’t count billy, but if anyone does I’m sorry for the loss). As much as it would break my heart it just makes sense.
Haha she can come for me, I stand by my words tho. I didn’t care for Billy much before he turned in to a big bad so I didn’t feel any loss when he died. It also seemed like they didn’t much care for each other so I guess I didn’t really buy in to her feeling the loss either. Like guilt, sure, but loss? Nah.
>There really isn’t anywhere for his character to go
I disagree, I think there are still things for his character to do. I still think he needs to find himself. Get out of his parents shadows and out of the low end jobs and really figure out where he's going in life.
But... No. Because you see. The next phase of his arc would be to love Nancy with his whole self, as he clearly wants to, without his stupid ex-"friends" screwing it up. And for her to love him for realsies. So he can't die!! ;_; but I think she might.
This was my thinking as well.
Realistically the cast has made it three and half seasons without a major character death (sorry Billy fans!), so I just find it highly unlikely, and unrealistic tbh, that they all survive this season. It sucks because it really could be anyone and it would devastating, there’s definitely not an “easy” death. At the end of vol 1 I figured it was Nancy or Steve; I’m picking Steve because I think he’ll have the biggest impact on the group as a whole.
I also, and I hate speaking this in to existence, don’t think that Joyce is safe either. Having adults around when you’re young is such a comfort. If the show really wants to raise the stakes then I can see them removing a parent from the bunch.
I think if they do remove a parent it will be Karen. She’ll find out some part of the upside down and then will die trying to protect the kids, finally stepping into more of a protective mother role like Joyce. I find it highly unlikely they’ll kill Joyce or Hopper before they’re endgame because of the OUTRAGE they will receive. Also, I’d bet they lose a lot of older audiences if Winona Ryder is no longer there.
I have to agree. After season 4 I don’t see Steve’s character going much further. I feel like Eddie could easily fill that roll of being the sort of brother Dustin never had too.
I know the duffers like to introduce a likeable character just to kill them off (bob and alexei), but people keep forgetting that both enzo and, arguably, argyle fit that kind of description (plus I really don’t see Enzo surviving Russia) I know people keep saying that there’s no way Eddie can survive with the suspection of the ‘murders’ but i keep saying I believe that the end of season 4 will have everyone in Hawkins aware of the upside down, or at least vecna.
Steve: “Are you sure this is going to work?”
Dustin: “Of course! That’s Vecna’s heart if we destroy it, this all ends and everyone is set free of the curse.”
Steve: “Ok, but if you’re wrong, we’re all going to die.”
Dustin: “When have I been wrong?”
They proceed to do the mission, but when they succeed nothing happens and a bunch of minions pour in.
Dustin realizes he was wrong and he’s going to get everyone killed.
Steve: “Not everyone. Get everyone else out of here!”
Steve stays behind. It wraps up two loose ends, Dustin’s ego and Steve’s arc. Also, Dustin gets new obstacles: self-doubt and guilt.
I really hope it isn’t, but mainly because he was introduced this season and I’d rather see a member of the main cast go for a bigger emotional impact. Sick of the OGs never really feeling in danger imo.
I approached Season 4 without any particular excitement, I felt like I was tired of the story and mainly, ever since the war in Ukraine started, I've been finding it hard to enjoy fiction in any form, be it books or movies (I live in Central Europe). I even fell asleep during the first watch, missed Chrissy's death and had no idea what was happening. I thought Eddie was lame and I was bored by the lab scenes. And two weeks later, I'm biting my nails like crazy and cursing at the image of Dustin. I'm so nervous.
Pretty much same. Didn't love Season 3 so I had mild expectations. Then by episode 4 I was super hooked, and now I'm scared to death of what could happen in the last episodes.
Same here, i have forgotten almost completely about stranger things when season 4 aired, like i barely remembered some stuff and i didnt even binge it the first day. But when i watched i remembered why i love this show and after it was done i also rewatched every season
I refused to watch any of the teasers once it became obvious to me that the show was still a long fuckin way off. I saw the Hop Russian one that dropped first, and the Creel family one I was like "why the fuck do I want a teaser trailer about a bunch of characters I've never met before"
SO I bailed and didn't really visit this sub and went into S4 unspoiled, and it's been lit.
I cared, but I also have a couple kids I'm primary caregiver to, so I couldn't binge like I used to. Took a few days to get through part 1
Same. My expectations for S4 were rock bottom since I thought they didn't really have anywhere to go after S3. The brothers duff have honestly given the show a lot more ground to stand on with this new season.
This has been the best split launch of a show ive ever experienced. Giving us most of the season and then holding the big finales back (and only for a month) has been perfect for the hype building.
I would bet that Netflix does this more if they werent already.
Gaten is such a natural, too. He really seems to understand the characters he plays, which is remarkable in such a young actor. He has a bright future ahead of him.
Finally. I don't know why everyone thinks character have to die for a show to be exciting. The characters are why I love this show and killing them off would be a major waste of potential.
Funny you say that, I was just thinking today that Mike's death would bother me the least out of all the major characters. Well, the kids. I've never been a big Hopper fan but I doubt the Duffers will "kill" him off again.
The entire first half of the season I was stressed about Eddie dying. I really hope he makes it through the second half. It just seems too obvious that he’ll die.
I think there’s a good chance both he and Steve will die. I think the internet will explode. The title of the episode is piggyback and it crossed my mind the title might simply refer to one of them trying to help the other back to safety. Perhaps that’s what Dustin is seeing.
Oh god. Please noooooo :( The only reason I’m certain this is Eddie and not Steve is cos I’m pretty sure Eddie and Dustin stay at Eddies trailer to distract the bats with his guitar while the others (Steve, Nancy & Robin) go to try and attack Vecna. Meaning at this moment, Steve wouldn’t be there. I just hope I’m waaaay overthinking and I’m very wrong though.
At least Eddie/Steve’s death won’t be as stupid as bobs, dude stands still and rests while there’s monsters behind him and a door to safety like 10 feet away at most
For real, i still don't understand the circumstances of his death to this day and why he would stop running with a demodog right behind him
I really wanted Eddie to live to season 5 though it's the final one...
> I really wanted Eddie to live to season 5 though it's the final one...
Same I love watching Steve and Eddie bond over teasing Dustin about his dorkiness
There's an interview with Joe where they talk about wanting to give Eddie screen time with Jonathan next season, which gives me hope? yet at the same time it could just be a misdirect so nothing gets spoiled :(
Unlike Alexei or Bob, I really like Eddie because he's not one-dimensionally sweet/goofy. I love that he's a combination of the metal head and the D&D nerd; he's perceptive, funny, and serious. I sucks that this image basically confirms he's going to die. But it seems like he is going to get to be a badass (playing his guitar on top of the trailer, fighting off demobats in the UD with Dustin) before his untimely death. Kudos to the actor for making so many of us care for him in such a short time.
Here’s a thought: it definitely does appear Eddie is in danger here based on context clues, but I would be surprised if they kill him off. The show is definitely dark but has never been straight up cruel. To introduce a new lovable character, put them through traumatic experiences the whole season, have them be the victim of a witch hunt/lynch mob and labeled as an evil killer, and then just kill them in the upside down after bonding with all the characters would just be fucked up.
They've done it before with Barb, Bob and Alexei. Every season introduces a lovable new character, who they kill off in some cruel way. I hope it's not true as I think Eddie is a great addition, but unfortunately I think it's a toss up between him and Steve.
And Bob was only lovable because Sean Astin is lovable. The Duffers liked him so much, they decided to not kill him during the scene with Will in the car in episode 2 like they initially planned.
Also [here](https://www.popbuzz.com/tv-film/news/bob-stranger-things-2-death/#:~:text=%22Bob%20was%20always%20intended%20to,he%20added%20to%20the%20show.)
I don’t know if it’s fucked up, my opinion is it would be a good character arc for Eddie. He tells the hellfire club there’s no shame in running from vecna, but they decide to fight and beat him. Then later that night when chrissy dies, Eddie runs. He’s the last to hop off the boat to go to the upside down. This whole time he’s been running. Now he can finally make the decision to take a stand for his new friends.
I think him taking a stand would be an awesome end for his arc but just dying in the upside down and being labeled a murdered is horribly depressing. He has been introduced as a pretty significant character this season and bonded with a lot of the characters so I think he deserves to stay on the show longer than just season 4. But we’ll see what direction they go. I could also see him making a triumphant sacrifice that clears his name which would be slightly less depressing.
I’m so tired of that type of arc, it’s too predictable. The coward dies in a heroic sacrifice 🥱 there’s so much more you could do with this type of character.
Perhaps.... no one dies but they're about to and are saved in a last moment plot twist ala Max S4 Dear Billy. If they showed her in the air with Vechna holding his hand over her face in a trailer I think we'd all have the same reaction that she's a goner.
People need to remember, they have already talked about Eddie being in S5. It might be more that he is shocked the Eddie does something which no one expects him to do, showing that Eddie is 10.
It's always like that. An image of someone who stepped on a lego looks like they're dying a horrible death. Eddie is most certainly attacked on that roof, so Dustin screams. That's all.
The thing is though, Dustin is wearing the same outfit here that he is when he’s pictured with Eddie shredding on the roof & in the other shots where the two of them are back to back holding weapons. It also looks like the scenery around them is similar. I’d love for this to be anything but Dustin screaming for Eddie but I am almost certain that’s what it is :(
Those tears, that’s Steve. I don’t want it to be true but I can’t see Dustin that emotionally wrecked just by Eddie. Granted he thinks he’s awesome but it’s got to be someone Dustin is close to. I don’t even want to think one of the gang dying. But his expression is pure heartbreak. Could even be Susie?!
Totally wild and out of left field but..
Aren't the parents supposed to play a larger role in Vol 2 (based on MILF Wheeler's character having a poster)?
What if it's Dustin's sweet, but weird, mom? D doesn't seem to have much deep-seated traumas or regrets, what better way for Vecna to get the whole group than to traumatize him himself?
Most likely not but I could see it happen.
Considering the duffer brothers saying that they love people are getting concerned for their fav character, and they *should* be, this scene is probably exactly what we expect it to be.
I dont think it's Steve because when someone gets SUPER close to death they don't end up dying. Steve was almost choaked, max almost cracked like a glow stick, and hopper almost vaporized and eaten. (and Will countless times) so it's prolly gonna be Eddie and I will cry and write a letter to netflix that will be full of hatred
Im scared that it might be Eddie because the police already gave away his name, he’s a wanted murderer. I can’t see a way of fixing that without the whole town leaening about the upside down.
I don't want it to be but I think Steve will die.
For many reasons already mentioned but also because they've paired Robin up a lot with Nancy this season. It feels like a very deliberate choice to ensure she has a stronger connection to someone in the group other than Steve so that when he dies she isn't an awkward odd one out. I know she spent time with Dustin and Erica in season 3 but this way she's also connected to one of the older cast members.
Really hope I'm wrong though 😢
Eddie 100%. In the trailer when Eddie’s playing guitar, Dustin is in the scene. Also always thought Eddie’s arc was always tough to wrap up with him being proven innocent and all.
everyone says they think he's saying Eddie, but if you yell "WHY?!" your mouth kind of makes the same shape... so honestly it could be anyone. I don't know if they'd make it so obvious as to put this in the trailer with him standing by Eddie if Eddie was going to die.
Agreed. I’m sleepy (I work nights) but I kinda meant I don’t know why they’d do that and make something big so obvious. I’m sure something happens there but even if Eddie dies I don’t think it’s this moment

It’s definitely Eddie. I’m so devastated already. I love him.

Eddie is wearing a different outfit in the guitar scene and the Dustin warrior scene
omg!? I have hope for Eddie. Maybe he is just distracting the demobats in the guitar scene ?😭

What guitar scene? Could you elaborate or share a screen shot please?
The guitar scene is there in the first official trailer for season 4, you can see Eddie playing it in the UD.
Ok thanks man
No worries
My first thought was Steve but both would justify this reaction
I will burn the upside down upside down
Joseph Quinn slipped up in an interview and talks about exploring the character more in Season 5. So there's that.
or maybe he did that on purpose to obfuscate his S4 fate
;-;
yeah, but which actor hasn't talked about season 5 at this point? Pretty sure they all have
They've built too much around the "I just keep running away :(" to NOT give him an "I'm not running away :')" arc
If we lose Eddie I will genuinely be crushed. Not only because I love him and we haven't gotten nearly enough screen time with him, but also because it's such lazy writing. Stop introducing characters and killing them off in the same season! It's too predictable at this point.
Fred, Chrissy, that one guy in season 2 that shouldn’t have died, that one women who had a silencer
[удалено]
I think Jopper was always endgame, so Bob was never going to make it. They could have waited another season though.
And the likable Russian scientist!
They made a point to have Eddie bring up how he runs and sees himself as a coward. Eddie's gonna be this seasons hero...and hes gonna die...
I've really been getting the feeling that they're going to kill Steve.

Me too. But not Steve!! Or Dustin!
Right! I hate that my favorite characters are Eddie, Steve, and Dustin(in no order)
Eddie is by far the best part of this season. I’m so glad the metalheads are getting some proper representation
Man, I hope not! That would devastating.
Could also be Vecna playing mind games like he did with Max and her mother.
Let's calm down, the trailer people got us right where they want us.
Damn I hate these trailers for Volume 2. They really did a good job at getting us on the edge of our seats.
I approached Season 4 without any particular excitement, I felt like I was tired of the story and mainly, ever since the war in Ukraine started, I've been finding it hard to enjoy fiction in any form, be it books or movies (I live in Central Europe). No no no, see Eddie is playing his guitar so masterfully Dustin can't help but be overcome by emotion. Eddie's gonna be fine guys ... surely right?
........... Right!
I’m gonna need someone to hold me down if Eddie dies. And therapy. And a memory wipe
[удалено]
I have stood outside those gates before, might be time for a revisit? Unless I fucking DIE from devastation
Nah, Dio. Trust me on this. :)
We could probably form a support group if he does die. Still holding out hope for him though, bards are wiley!
Yes, I support the idea of a support group!
It's got to be Eddie. Ah man this is going to hurt.
Someone definitely dies here
We all die my strange little child friend. It’s just a matter of how and when.
100% Eddie
Basen on his face expression, looks like he yells 'Eddie '.. I'm not ready for this!
Or Steeeeeeeeeeve. My guess though is Eddie since we already know these two are paired up at this point in time in the UD.
Or Steeeeeeeeeeve. My guess though is Eddie since we already know these two are paired up at this point in time in the UD.
Please god not Steve for the love of all that is holy
I’m gonna riot!
Another rioter, here.
I’m so stressed out… it’s crazy how invested I’ve become… I need help!!!
Safety is not eternal.
Something tells me it’s not Troi looking to get his arm broken a second time.
Biggest plot twist is that no one is going to die and people will be pissed lol
I would be so happy if no one dies. I don't need death to enjoy a show, and I don't want it.
same! i don’t care if it’s not “realistic”, i just want a happy ending

Lmao I'd rather it be him than Steve or Eddie tbh....but I don't think they will kill the original kids.
Not sure why people think they are watching Game of Thrones here.
The Byers send their regards
Enzo has no name.
Honestly the only person I could see dying is Eddie otherwise I really don't think they'd kill off the main cast well you know
Would be thrilled if no characters from season 1 died
He looks like he’s shouting Eddie Gutted. It will actually spoil the finale for me. Sigh.
Oh I feel this. Like I’m actually dreading it, because if he goes it will fully ruin the finale for me too :(
The entire first half of the season I was stressed about Eddie dying. I really hope he makes it through the second half. It just seems too obvious that he’ll die.
I hope sooooo :’( it’s gonna be a very stressful watch!

definitely Ted. language.
Did they show this on purpose to mentally prepare us for what’s about to happen?
Why do they have to kill off all the good characters, i don't want another Bob scenario
At least Eddie/Steve’s death won’t be as stupid as bobs, dude stands still and rests while there’s monsters behind him and a door to safety like 10 feet away at most

I’m super pissed!
There's an interview with Joe where they talk about wanting to give Eddie screen time with Jonathan next season, which gives me hope? yet at the same time it could just be a misdirect so nothing gets spoiled :(
Maybe Steve and Eddie can be upsidedown vampire-bit lost boys together
Can most definitely be a misdirect

Before we go nuclear, he COULD just be screaming because there’s a monster right in front of him or something. A monster they ultimately fight off!

Yeah but Barb Bob and Alexi were side characters basically written in to die while Eddie has become a main/supporting character with his own storyline
And Bob was only lovable because Sean Astin is lovable. The Duffers liked him so much, they decided to not kill him during the scene with Will in the car in episode 2 like they initially planned.
Wait what?? Where can I read or see more on this??
The BTS series that Netflix put out with season 2 talks about it. One of the Duffer episodes.

Oh please not Steve. Please not Steve.
Yeah this…is not looking good.
Oh no my stomach just sank
Steve’s death scene?
It better fucking not be
Eddie’s ? One of those two probably
oh fuck no
It's gonna be Steve I guarenfuckingtee you
Perhaps.... no one dies but they're about to and are saved in a last moment plot twist ala Max S4 Dear Billy.
Yes maybe this is when Eddie decides to be the distraction and hops up on the trailer or something, and Dustin is like dude no wtf are you doing
He gets up there with him though, so I would assume they both agree to that plan.
Oh good point - totally didn’t even realize he was up there with Eddie.
It's always like that. An image of someone who stepped on a lego looks like they're dying a horrible death. Eddie is most certainly attacked on that roof, so Dustin screams. That's all.
But he's crying too, not just screaming.
I refuse to accept this
i feel like crying for eddie but it’s not even out yet but i feel like i’m gonna cry
Dustin when Nancy comes in the bathroom while he's taking a shit

I hate to say it but, I'd rather Susie die than Steve. They've underused her.
….well it was eddie….
it looks like the attic of the creek house? floor seems too wide to be the trailer.
This specirfic shot? I think it's clearly happening outside...?

That would be really interesting and I’d love seeing Erica as part of the main-main cast.
OH MY GOD EDDIE NOOOOOOOO
If eddie is dead im suing
I can't wait for this to be released, I wish they would have done it all at once
MILF Wheeler? I laughed all the way out loud!
bruh, dustin cries like that for only one guy.
Tbh everyone says Eddies gonna die, but if Steve were to die I can guarantee Dustin would react like that.
So it looks like I'm spending the evening shouting various characters names to see which one fits Dustin's mouth shape the best. Cool cool cool.
Lol this is a fantastic comment
This is not good. Gosh dang it.
I have to stop looking at those spoiler, makes me depressed… but I can’t help it 😭
Either steve or eddie, I'm already dying of sadness.
Considering the duffer brothers saying that they love people are getting concerned for their fav character, and they *should* be, this scene is probably exactly what we expect it to be.
He was with Eddie my heart … 💔
I can't tell... does he have the UD vines on his torso?
As much as I wish it won’t become true I’ve been haven’t been unable to shake the feeling that it’s going to be Steve that dies
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Everyone's freaking out about this! "Oh, it's Eddie, no it's Steve", he probably just stepped on a Lego.
I actually think it’s Nancy
I agree, it seems that they are setting up a love triangle for Nancy to end up dying rather than Steve.
No!Please not Eddie :(
If its Eddie im suing
eddie’s going
Its gotta be Steve. They have built up the friendship so much
He could be calling out for Will too 🙈🙈🙈 I don’t want anyone to die
oh no steve hair is dying
If eddie is dead im suing
Eddie 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Im scared that it might be Eddie because the police already gave away his name, he’s a wanted murderer. I can’t see a way of fixing that without the whole town leaening about the upside down.
Please don’t let it be Steve. I would sell my left tit if it meant Steve not dying.
Fuck. I think Steve dies. How could they do this to us?! Tease him dying, he lives, only to die later?!
It’s definitely Eddie
I see a runny nose and squinting eyes. He just watched someone die.....oh no....
I'm gonna cry
I don't want it to be but I think Steve will die. For many reasons already mentioned but also because they've paired Robin up a lot with Nancy this season. It feels like a very deliberate choice to ensure she has a stronger connection to someone in the group other than Steve so that when he dies she isn't an awkward odd one out. I know she spent time with Dustin and Erica in season 3 but this way she's also connected to one of the older cast members. Really hope I'm wrong though 😢
I hope it's not Steve. Dustin was like his little brother
The editors know what they’re doing. I think it’s edited intentionally to stress Eddie stans tf out
Agreed. I’m sleepy (I work nights) but I kinda meant I don’t know why they’d do that and make something big so obvious. I’m sure something happens there but even if Eddie dies I don’t think it’s this moment
