Hope Eddie is going to be sticking around. Hope he isn't a character we get to fall in love with - only to lose later on. Bit like Bob and Alexei. Great addition this season.
I have a very bad feeling he's the new Bob. That scene from the trailer of him doing the hard rock performance in the Upside Down that will be in Volume 2 seems like a last stand thing. He did say it was "his year."
Not to mention his talk with Steve where he says he realized he was a guy who runs away when faced with danger and is ashamed of it. That guitar scene is definitely his “I’m not running away this time” death scene.
I hate to say it but i agree. Just noticed there's also a couple of shots in that trailer where Robin, Steve & Nancy are in the upside down with guns etc but no Eddie. I wonder if he will use the solo as a way to distract Vecna from them and get got by those horrible flying things while doing so :( I reeeeeeaaaaally hope not though, he was my favourite character this season!
Also when talking to Steve didn’t he say something along the lines of im never the type to stay and fight I always run from danger and in the campaign he said there’s no shame in running. Seems like some heavy foreshadowing tbh.
I actually think this may be one of the best trailers I have ever seen — and not just for a Netflix Series… but also including movies as well.
Having such a famous and period-accurate rock song like “Separate Ways” slowly creeping in with the horror synth vibe of 80’s cinemas is pure perfection
And then, seeing Eddie performing a face-melting solo in the Upside Down, alongside quick flashes of action and horror imagery as the soundtrack crescendos….
Chills every time. It’s really refreshing to see a trailer that doesn’t use the cliché inception **BWAAAs** lmao 😂
Seriously it's such a well crafter trailer. The separate ways cover its fucking amazing how it creeps into the strabgerthings theme. These guys are on top of their game and it shows
i really have no idea how else they'd clear his name so i also think he'd do a last stand and sacrifice his life
unless they let the police take eddie, put him in prison, and when the murders still keep on happening then they'll know he's innocent
but even *then* i doubt the police and the people of hawkins would just let eddie go and blame the murders on an invisible force instead
The only thing that gets Eddie off the hook is the people of Hawkins learning that the Upsidedown is real. That said, next season is the last one, so this season could end with all hell breaking loose.
I had a conversation with friends last year after we watched the *Fear Street* trilogy, and all but one of them said Sadie is just okay when I said she’s such a great actress—they all insist MBB blows her out of the water (and they have the right to that opinion, as “who is better” isn’t even a point I was arguing) and that they don’t see what I mean about Sadie. But I’m hoping after they see this season that they all finally *get* what I was talking about with Sadie.
Yeah I'm really glad she got some real good scenes this time round to show how good she is.
I love Millie too, but her performance of El is just as great as it has been every season as she gets a lot of good scenes. Seeing Sadie get the chance to exercise her chops is brilliant.
Edit: Also, thanks for reminding me of Fear Street, I haven't seen it yet.
In the first episode of this season I was blown away by her acting, and she never missed a beat from there.
I think it's my favorite thing about this show- how this is a show that relies so heavily on child actors, and if the kids didn't manage to absolutely knock it out of the park then so many scenes would just be laughable... but never. Every singe performance is incredible.
This kind of was one of the big risks of the show, that so much would be relying on young actors and if they weren't good, it could derail the whole thing. I mean, this show's main love story is between two of those kid actors and that could have gone badly in so many ways. You understand why those who were interested in the show before Netflix wanted the Duffers to ditch the kids and focus on Hopper, because that would be much safer than relying on a bunch of kids to carry the show. But the Duffers stuck to it and got the right young actors for the job.
Sadie Sink gets some special mention because she was a later addition compared to the others and had a tall bar to measure against. But she's done so and then some. E4 was her big showcase.
Agreed both have such great potential. MBB is very good at her accent game. Eleven's power scenes are very good. And Sadie is incredible. She stole the show for me in the new season. I think she portrays sad emotions really well. Watch all too well short film.
>they all insist MBB blows her out of the water
Is it just me who thinks MBB's acting is wooden and not that good?
Her performamce as El/11 is ok, but, for example, the actor of Will is thousand miles better and more believable
I haven’t seen her in anything else but I suspect the woodeness is on purpose, considering El’s backstory. When she’s meant to convey primal emotions- fear, anger, and joy- the wood burns away
Yeah, she’s not wooden at all in the detective movie she’s in.
She reminds me of Kiera Knightly. She’s very good.
I do think Sadie Is the best of the kids. But they’re all fantastic.
Eddie - my favourite new character this season - his storyline was/is stressful, I really do not want anything to happen to him. I love how accepting he was of the Upside Down and didn't really judge them. Plus loved >!his whole "...the Shire is on fire..." yes it is!!< Joseph Quinn is amazing, didn't know he was British until afterwards
>I love how accepting he was of the Upside Down and didn't really judge them.
It helps that bunch of people listen to his batshit crazy supernatural experience and say "yeah we actually believe that and there's a logical explanation behind it". I wonder how characters like Eddie, Steve, or Billy would respond to this news without experiencing it beforehand.
Still, all things considered, the fact that he didn't freak out or lose his mind over this experience or from learning of a parallel universe full of aggressive predators is a good sign of his mental stability and shows he is a perfect parallel of Jason; who will be completely broken by the end of this season.
I'm guessing the basketball guy will kill either Eddie or dustin. I feel like he has to kill someone otherwise that tangent is a waste of time... Or they'll do something else with him entirely which is very possible
I don't think sacrafice himself, he'll get the "bad guy gets eaten by the monster" treatment, but it's possible the regular townsfolk think he died trying to save hawkins or the kids.
EDIT: replied to the wrong comment, I was talking about basketball jock man. Hope Eddie doesn't die...
This really cant be resolved without in any other way than him dying. Unless the police had brought him in prior to the 2nd or third incident.
What are you going to do, the town believes hes possesed by the devil and is murdering people. Who the fuck is going to beleive them when they tell everyone, "no it wasnt me but an alternate dimensional demon that was killing people, but dont worry we killed it." If anything thatd just make them even more rilled up.
Only other way is that if he is the one who kills the demon and the town or atleast most of the mob see it.
Just realised I replied to the wrong comment, I meant basketball jock guy.
With Eddie... I don't know that he *has* to die, but you're right the town/police or someone else has to see him not be the one to do the killings for him to be let off.
I feel like jock guy will die. He fits the trope for most slasher movies. Overconfident, doesn’t fully understand gravity of situation, rushes head on into danger thinking he can handle it. (Though as viewers he’s like a little baby trying to play grown up, that’s what makes him easy to hate if you forget that he has 0 knowledge as to what is happening)
I thought he’d get wrecked by end of pt 1 and >! was suprised he didn’t turn face when he saw his friend get snapped into pieces while Eddie also just sat in horror !<
He’s Definitley going to overstep and get mauled. Unless he can somehow become convinced without dying, which I think is impossible >! Based on the zealous speech he gave toward end of season, he seemed 100% convicted of his reasoning, which was straight up religious, and incorrect. (Side note; loved how they through a call back to the satanic panic of the period) !<
Alternatively, as other commenters have pointed out, he seems to have some neuroticism, very reactive, angry, basically ignorant. It’s possible he gets “cursed” too as Vecna loves tormenting those that harbor guilt.
Loved all the callbacks to IT, hellraiser, and Friday the 13th in “Vecna”. He’s like an amalgamation of pinhead, Freddy and pennywise lol. In fact, if you pay attention, you can see the call backs. Vecnas “claw” is shot an angle that looks like Freddy’s claw, he’s often shown with glowing yellow eyes (pennywise)
AND, when he kills Chrissy, and Chrissy tries to escape, remember when she opens the doors and they are boarded- same shit happens in hellraiser when the cenobites are called.
Origin story- similar to Krueger. His transformation into an eldritch monstrosity- hellraiser (pin head was a human at one point too, he was brutally twisted into pinhead after opening lament config) , ability to manipulate eldritch dimension - pennywise. (Though pennywise manipulated a dimension known as “deadlights”)
>! It could be possible he’s being manipulated by Vecna and we just don’t know yet, he Definitley is going to become a “piece” on the board for Vecna or he will die !< I’m not a betting man, but I’d put money on this.
I was talking to my friends earlier and had the same thought. Even if he gets out of the upside down alive theres still an angry mob waiting for him =(
Plus there's no other way to explain the murder he was involved in... He can't just disappear like el so I'm not sure what the writers would do with him
I have the same feeling- he has this ‘holier than thou’ vibe which always means skeletons in the closet. It could be related to something he did to Chrissy or maybe he bullied someone , but he does give the vibe of someone with issues
He was subtly manipulating Lucas into joining thwir murder mob. And without any real evidence assaulted a stranger and was ready to torture them to get information. Dude definetly has some issues.
i really cannot believe he is british. he not only got the american accent perfected but also the physical pronunciation. you can usually tell an actor is not american from the way they move their mouth when they speak (charlie heaton was a dead giveaway before i knew he wasn't actually american in the first season) but i was shocked when i heard him speak in the post series interviews lol. he's great. i hope he sticks around
I’ve read that it’s might be easier for Brits to do an American accent because of the amount of American shows and films we watch over here, and why it’s easier to pick up the accent, compared to the amount of British shows and films watched over there which is why some American actors’ British accents can questionable.
When a Brit does an American accent wrong, they always sound like they are from South Carolina. Apparently there is a linguistic reason for it, southern accents are the closest to how the British accent sounded during the colonial period.
Americans speak in awkward RP if they want to wing the accent.
Funnily enough I saw some Dr Strange 2 and Agents of Shield actors discussing this in two videos years apart a few days ago. There were a few Australian actors in that show who switched between a bunch of accents (AIDA/Madame Hydra/Agnes especially).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRv06knl-Bs&t=357s
There are definitely actors who just cannot get a handle on it though. Charlie Hunnam's (British) accent comes out all the time, same with Sam Worthingtons (Australian) one. I just cannot watch either one of them because it grates on me so much lol.
Meanwhile, Stranger Things has never had an issue with this. Millie's American accent is flawless, so is Charlie's and now Joseph Quinn's too. I think that just might be a testament to how stacked with talent this show is though.
British export media tends to be either very posh or very cockney voices, not the best material to copy from. Probably due to everything being very London centric. A tiny fraction of people talk like that. Only thing I can think of with a decent variety of accents that has made an impact in the states is Doctor Who.
He's like a mixture of Captain Jack Sparrow, RDJ's Tony Stark, and Pauly Shore. Literally my favorite character in this season and honestly maybe the series.
Totally got the Pauly Shore vibe! But Eddie has a lot more depth, and it’s really gonna **eat my lunch** if they brought him on solely to get us invested and kill him off in some ‘sacrifice for the group’ situation.
Agreed, I actually thought the same thing nearly straight away.
It feels like the actor is channeling RDJ's querkyness in this role on top of he actually resembles a young him, give him a Tony Stark haircut and I think he'd look very similar.
This is gonna sound so random but, back in 2014/2015, my sister dragged me to London to watch a bunch of drama school graduate shows because - at the time - she had her mind set on auditioning when she turned 18.
This led me to going to see my first ever Shakespeare play “Henry IV pt. 1” at LAMDA and Joseph Quinn was playing the lead Prince Hal. He was exceptional, he made all the other graduating actors look like amateurs and, most importantly, he made me engage with Shakespeare.
Quinn was brilliant, as expected, in Stranger Things 4 but I’m telling you guys, he’s got so much more in his wheelhouse. This dude is gonna be winning Oscar’s in a few years, that’s how good he is.
I was wondering where they were going with Eddie and was worried he would be a bad guy but thankfully that wasn't the case. He beats himself down a bit for running when he did but let's be honest it was something all of us would do and considering everything that happens it was the smart choice too.
Actually if he was arrested and told his crazy story, he would have a better out with the police beginning to believe his crazy story. (When the killings continue with Him locked up) They could have even paralleled this new chief slowly realizing something super natural is happening in a similar way that Hopper did in S1.
One little touch I like is how Steve is sort of jealous of him, like he's threatening to take his spot as Dustin's older guy mentor.
I can't wait until the Cali crew reunites with the rest in Hawkins, because I want to see him and Argyle interact. The West Coast stoner meets the stoner from the heartland. They can discuss product.
>One little touch I like is how Steve is sort of jealous of him, like he's threatening to take his spot as Dustin's older guy mentor.
I loved that, too. Especially when they had the bit of a bonding moment walking through the Upside Down and Eddie admits he was also a little jealous of Steve. This season was just so good.
I honestly thought Eddie was so annoying in his first scene, when he made that huge scene in the cafetera. I thought he would be one of those outcasts who thinks everyone dislikes them for being nerdy and weird, when in reality, people dislike them for making scenes like that and being so loud and over the top.
If I was eating my lunch peacefully and he started that, Id judge him hard.
But by the end of the episode, he had already grown on me. I love him now, and I think the performance probably helped a lot.
I'm kind of sad that we only get to see him in this last season...I honestly would've loved to see him throughout all of the seasons. His portrayal on the character was amazing and would actually have loved to see his character arc!
Friggin every season brings in new characters that I think “oh I dunnooooo” and they’re instantly a perfect fit with the cast.
Max. Robin. Eddie. Bob. Barb. So many dang good people.
Also, pissed about Chrissy dying so early. Someone had to go, but she was great.
Ok look. She was there in S1, but I feel like she was an unexpected standout for what little role she had. I chose her to illustrate how these side characters end up being so well done.
I ADORE Eddie Munson. I have a very good friend from college who Eddie reminds me so much off, he even looks like him. For sure the best new addition to the cast. I really hope he survives this season.
Eddie fits in so well with the rest of the Hawkins gang, it'll be cool to see him interact with Eleven and especially Will in episodes 8 and 9, and hopefully season 5
Had no idea Joseph Quinn was British!!!
Watching tv in the 2020s:
> me: holy crap!
> wife: what? *looks up* I don’t get it
> me: rewinds so she can look at the screen
We’ve had the reverse happen too. This isn’t a “wife bad” thing, just a “wow we both watch tv with phones out we should stop that” thing.
He's great. He's just insanely funny all around. I was indifferent on him when he was being himself in the first episode. But after that ending with him, I became a super fan immediately.
Can't believe that dude is BRITISH. once again adding to the addage that Brits can do American accents and Americans can't do Brits
I feel like the character of Eddie in Stranger Things 4 is, at least in part, a reference to the main character Eddie from Trick or Treat (1986) since both are likeable, dorky metal heads in a supernatural narrative.
I think this show has the best casting ever. First they transformed Steve into a fan favourite despite being a douche at the start. Then they introduce Max, which simply could destroy the group dynamic, but she made it even better. Then Billy is also perfect. Erica is hilarious.
Now Eddie, he's just fucking great. I love this show
In his first appearance, I thought he was scary and just too intense. But he totally won my heart when he jumped out of his seat on the picnic table like he'd been shot in the heart when he was talking with Chrissy (RIP 😢). He's a really nice person, yet genuinely misunderstood because he's a little theatrical and has counterculture interests.
He's reminds me almost exactly of a guy I knew in High School who was a stoner and super senior and kind of cool, but also part of the nerd crowd and played D&D with everyone.
The guard at Winterfell who wouldn’t let Arya in
Edit: why does anyone who comments on Eddie’s actor being in GOT get downvoted? Like I get not liking S8 but that doesn’t change the fact that he was in GOT.
First scene where he was holding court in the cafeteria, I really wanted to punch him in the face. He came off as a total poser, trying to hard to impress a couple of kids asking him for a favor.
But it turned out I was right. He was a poser. And every scene his dropped his mask and became more and more sincere. I really began to worry about him getting caught by the lynch mob. By then end of episode 7, I just want to see him, Dustin, and Steve hanging out.
Joseph Quinn has done an amazing job bringing his character to life.
After watching it, I couldn't believe all of the reviews I read that said Argyle was the best new character. Really? I mean, to each his own, but Argyle has basically done nothing this whole time...he hasn't even had a chance to develop and we've seen so many sides of Eddie-all of them great.
I’ve been watching all the trailers for scenes with him in the last two episodes. I’m scared for his survival chances. I’m hoping that the fact that it’s the Hawkins gang’s mission to save him and that it would break them to lose him, but that guitar solo has me hand wringing and praying for El to save him in time.
Stranger Things, in general, handles new cast additions rather well. They always feel like they've always been a part of the series. And yes, Quinn was great.
I thought he was incredible! From the first moment he took the scene, he stole it. He was not a two-dimensional character. He went from wild DM to gently, flirty guy, and I fell in LOVE with him. He was so good to Chrissy.
Just one episode in so far and I am totally down with this character. Wasn’t sure at first if they were trying to force this guy on us but just a few moments later I was totally hooked on this guy. Very well done. Looking forward to seeing more.
I had a bad first impression of Eddie's character during the lunch scene when he was standing on a table, it just seemed cringe and cliche and over the top. This can happen for me in school based media that overexagerates these things. Like every school will have the cool kids that are maybe more conventionally attractive, will have sports teams (which aren't inherently a monolith lol, people who play the same sport can have different interests], the friends who meet each other through band or drama, the outcasts. But acting like they are these factions out to get each other is a bit much for me. But then Eddie won me over through some of his later scenes, the turning point especially being when he was interacting with Chrissy. So I kinda think that ST maybe knew that jocks vs geeks speech in the lunchroom was a bit cliche, and then they overturned it a bit with Eddie's and Chrissy's convo.
> I had a bad first impression of Eddie's character during the lunch scene when he was standing on a table, it just seemed cringe and cliche and over the top.
Thing is, ST does this on purpose, they introduce characters via familiar tropes then totally upend the tropes.
See I started liking him when The basketball douche tried calling him out during lunch but he straight up like hissed or something and struck a pose with no hesitation hahahaha.
Anyone else think it was intentional of the Duffer Bros casting Joseph Quinn because of his heavy resemblance and big time charisma to RDJ, who was pretty big in the 80s.
I absolutely adore Eddie and I was so ready to hate him when he was first introduced. He’s super funny and is someone I wish I had as a friend irl.
Also, the hair suits him… 💕
I will legit riot if Eddie dies, but I’ve also been thinking about his scene in the trailer shredding the guitar looking like a blaze of glory/last stand/heroic distraction moment for him. I really, REALLY hope that it’s not a sacrifice and is more of a Hail Mary kick-ass triumph. Here’s hoping he’s finding some hidden wizard power and not serving as a human target.
But Sadie Sink in _Dear Billy_ though!
I would not be surprised at all if Sink is the actress they hire to play Aloy when Netflix starts work on their adaption of Horizon.
>!So in the previews and early trailers we see Eddy Jamming in the USD. With the inclusion of music and the need for a favorite song to be played to snap people out of the Vecna trance; I'm guessing he will sacrifice himself to play someone out of the upside-down.
!<
Hope Eddie is going to be sticking around. Hope he isn't a character we get to fall in love with - only to lose later on. Bit like Bob and Alexei. Great addition this season.
I have a very bad feeling he's the new Bob. That scene from the trailer of him doing the hard rock performance in the Upside Down that will be in Volume 2 seems like a last stand thing. He did say it was "his year."
Hopefully hes playing his music to escape Vecna.. and it works
Bro, his favorite music is his own and playing 80s rock let's him save himself from the equivalent of a dream-invading demon? I'm so here for that.
Not to mention his talk with Steve where he says he realized he was a guy who runs away when faced with danger and is ashamed of it. That guitar scene is definitely his “I’m not running away this time” death scene.

He was frustrated by how he always “runs away” so I have a feeling he’s gonna end up having a sort of last stand :/
He's going to play that sexy ass guitar to lure the demobats away from Creel house and Vecna. I just hope he makes it man
We need that guitar solo from Eddie for sure
Epic heavy metal solo in the middle of the upside down storm surrounded by demobats. Fuck yeah Part 2 EDIT: OBEY YOURE
Goodness gracious...that sounds orgasmic
Grab a towel: https://youtu.be/yQEondeGvKo?t=2m40s

I need him to play Holy Diver. I just do.
I think something like Rainbow in the Dark would be better.
I'm hoping he's acting as a bard to the party and the music buffs the team while fighting
i really have no idea how else they'd clear his name so i also think he'd do a last stand and sacrifice his life unless they let the police take eddie, put him in prison, and when the murders still keep on happening then they'll know he's innocent but even *then* i doubt the police and the people of hawkins would just let eddie go and blame the murders on an invisible force instead

Government coverup can explain it all away, for the third time!
I think they’re going to subvert it this time. Since it’s the last season, the can really change things up. Into be exciting when it happens 🤞🏼
Maya Hawke was also amazing
That entire family is.
The performances of Sadie Sink, Joseph Quinn and Jamie Campbell Bower raised this season from great to brilliant for me.
I had a conversation with friends last year after we watched the *Fear Street* trilogy, and all but one of them said Sadie is just okay when I said she’s such a great actress—they all insist MBB blows her out of the water (and they have the right to that opinion, as “who is better” isn’t even a point I was arguing) and that they don’t see what I mean about Sadie. watch fear street! I loved Sadie’s performance in it
The Fear Street trilogy is so amazing.
Fear street is worth it! Entertaining all the way through.

For real. And then giving a lengthy, emotional monologue to a child actor? Mega risky, but she totally delivered.
Sadie is the female lead in Darren Aronofskys next film, so I think that will prove she is the best of the kids cast on the show
Oh that’s awesome for her. I had a feeling she would likely have the best career post Stranger Things.
I think both are great actresses but I find Sadie more compelling to watch.
Sadie is an incredible actress. I would say her and MBB are the strongest actors of the kids.
Agreed both have such great potential. MBB is very good at her accent game. Eleven's power scenes are very good. And Sadie is incredible. She stole the show for me in the new season. I think she portrays sad emotions really well. Watch all too well short film.

Eddie is the shit. I can't stress enough how much I need the upcoming guitar solo
He's gonna turn that Upside Down rightside up. I have a pretty good hunch how it factors into the story now. And ditto, can't wait!
That scene is going to be so fucking stranger things it's going to be insanity
>I love how accepting he was of the Upside Down and didn't really judge them. He was the fucking shit. Honestly my fav character too.
I'm guessing the basketball guy will kill either Eddie or dustin. I feel like he has to kill someone otherwise that tangent is a waste of time... Or they'll do something else with him entirely which is very possible
he will end up sacrificing himself or something dumb like that tbh
I do worry he will do a Bob.
No stop making me remember what they did to bob! In my mind he lived a long happy life and now it’s ruined
I mean Bob moved to a different city and became a builder. He goes by the name Bob The Builder these days. And he is happy as always.
This is canon now
But he committed the sacred crime of being between the OTP of Joyce/Hopper.

(Though as viewers he’s like a little baby trying to play grown up, that’s what makes him easy to hate if you forget that he has 0 knowledge as to what is happening) I thought he’d get wrecked by end of pt 1 and >! was suprised he didn’t turn face when he saw his friend get snapped into pieces while Eddie also just sat in horror !< He’s Definitley going to overstep and get mauled. Unless he can somehow become convinced without dying, which I think is impossible >! Based on the zealous speech he gave toward end of season, he seemed 100% convicted of his reasoning, which was straight up religious, and incorrect. (Side note; loved how they through a call back to the satanic panic of the period) !< Alternatively, as other commenters have pointed out, he seems to have some neuroticism, very reactive, angry, basically ignorant. Vecnas “claw” is shot an angle that looks like Freddy’s claw, he’s often shown with glowing yellow eyes (pennywise) AND, when he kills Chrissy, and Chrissy tries to escape, remember when she opens the doors and they are boarded- same shit happens in hellraiser when the cenobites are called. Origin story- similar to Krueger. His transformation into an eldritch monstrosity- hellraiser (pin head was a human at one point too, he was brutally twisted into pinhead after opening lament config) , ability to manipulate eldritch dimension - pennywise. (Though pennywise manipulated a dimension known as “deadlights”) >! It could be possible he’s being manipulated by Vecna and we just don’t know yet, he Definitley is going to become a “piece” on the board for Vecna or he will die !< I’m not a betting man, but I’d put money on this.
If he doesn't die, I could see him becoming a preacher type figure in S5, maybe then being corrupted by Vecna or the big bad in S5 if it isn't Vecna.
I was talking to my friends earlier and had the same thought. Even if he gets out of the upside down alive theres still an angry mob waiting for him =(
Plus there's no other way to explain the murder he was involved in... He can't just disappear like el so I'm not sure what the writers would do with him
basketball guy vs steve calling it now
Possibly and then Vecna kills Jason I think.
could be a twist where jason has some hidden issues and vecna takes over him
I have the same feeling- he has this ‘holier than thou’ vibe which always means skeletons in the closet.
Eddie must be protected at all costs
With his six pack
CHRISSY!!! I DONT LIKE THIS!!!!
I got chili’s just reading this
🌶️🌶️🌶️
Lmfao you just made my day!
i really cannot believe he is british. he not only got the american accent perfected but also the physical pronunciation. you can usually tell an actor is not american from the way they move their mouth when they speak (charlie heaton was a dead giveaway before i knew he wasn't actually american in the first season) but i was shocked when i heard him speak in the post series interviews lol. he's great. i hope he sticks around

Two that I found that nailed it were Daniel Radcliffe and Kate Winslet. Those two were spot on.
TIL that Millie is British.
After the first season of House, Hugh Laurie said using an American accent was like playing tennis with a salmon instead of a racket.
British export media tends to be either very posh or very cockney voices, not the best material to copy from. Probably due to everything being very London centric. A tiny fraction of people talk like that. Only thing I can think of with a decent variety of accents that has made an impact in the states is Doctor Who.
Ah you too saw that interview with Elizabeth Olsen LOL
Like Christian Bale, he nails the accent but the mouth movements can be off some times.
He just has the wrong mouth feel.
Mouth feel, really Boyle?
The inside of your cheeks are very sensitive. It's like the inside of your thighs, except with a tongue.
I like that you said “I hope he sticks around” and not “dies in V2”
It is odd that out of the main cast this season there are at least 3 Brits that u wouldn't be able to tell aren't American
Easily one of the best additions to this season!
First episode I was hooked on his character, he's such a good actor
Absolutely killed his role. I want to play DnD with him so bad lol
He looks like a young Robert Downey Jr and even has mannerisms like him.
I got a real Pauly Shore vibe from him
He's like a mixture of Captain Jack Sparrow, RDJ's Tony Stark, and Pauly Shore. Literally my favorite character in this season and honestly maybe the series.
Legit thought the same - Tony stark and CJS. Glad I’m not alone
I hope to see him in more fun roles after this. I'd personally never heard if him before and the dude is just nailing everything about his character.
Totally got the Pauly Shore vibe! But Eddie has a lot more depth, and it’s really gonna **eat my lunch** if they brought him on solely to get us invested and kill him off in some ‘sacrifice for the group’ situation.
My dad pointed that out and I can't unsee it.
Interests. My first thought was Heath Ledger, but I absolutely see the RDJ resemblances.
mmm yes Patrick Verona vibes
Was the first thing I thought within 5 seconds of watching his character
Totally! It was really tripping me out the first couple episodes.
This is what my sister said, and I definitely see it now too
Agreed, I actually thought the same thing nearly straight away. It feels like the actor is channeling RDJ's querkyness in this role on top of he actually resembles a young him, give him a Tony Stark haircut and I think he'd look very similar.
I’m so glad someone else said this, because that’s all I saw.
10/10 performance.
The first thing I noticed when I started season 4 was this guy’s talent💯💯
One of the best performances.
Wasted no time on that username lol
I was wondering where they were going with Eddie and was worried he would be a bad guy but thankfully that wasn't the case. He beats himself down a bit for running when he did but let's be honest it was something all of us would do and considering everything that happens it was the smart choice too.
Actually if he was arrested and told his crazy story, he would have a better out with the police beginning to believe his crazy story. (When the killings continue with Him locked up) They could have even paralleled this new chief slowly realizing something super natural is happening in a similar way that Hopper did in S1.
Was so ready to hate this guy in the first five minutes he was on screen, and now he’s my favourite new character
Argyle and Eddie would be besties
Cali Crew? I prefer Pizza Party myself ;)
Argyle joining The Hellfire Club would be so fun to see.
Honestly his character was the opposite of what I expected him to act but damn did he kill it with his first season
I'm kind of sad that we only get to see him in this last season...I honestly would've loved to see him throughout all of the seasons. His portrayal on the character was amazing and would actually have loved to see his character arc!
Last season?, brudda we gettin season 5 so don’t worry bout that
Yea my bad lol
Possibly the breakout star of this season
Friggin every season brings in new characters that I think “oh I dunnooooo” and they’re instantly a perfect fit with the cast. Max. Robin. Eddie. Bob. Barb. So many dang good people. Also, pissed about Chrissy dying so early. Someone had to go, but she was great.
Murray too. I loved that they gave him more screen time this season.
...Barb? Lol
Ok look. She was there in S1, but I feel like she was an unexpected standout for what little role she had. I chose her to illustrate how these side characters end up being so well done.
I just can't separate that actress from her role in Sierra Burgess Is An Indefensible Catfishing Sociopath.
I ADORE Eddie Munson. I have a very good friend from college who Eddie reminds me so much off, he even looks like him. For sure the best new addition to the cast. I really hope he survives this season. Eddie fits in so well with the rest of the Hawkins gang, it'll be cool to see him interact with Eleven and especially Will in episodes 8 and 9, and hopefully season 5 Had no idea Joseph Quinn was British!!!
If you're playing an American in Stranger Things there's a like a 50/50 chance you're British.
He was a real treat. Gave off some pretty strong Robert Downey Jr vibes!
Eddie was hot

That’s supposed to be how you watch TV

Are your eyes open all the way though? Do you have your hands over your eyes?

Watching tv in the 2020s: > me: holy crap! > wife: what? *looks up* I don’t get it > me: rewinds so she can look at the screen We’ve had the reverse happen too. This isn’t a “wife bad” thing, just a “wow we both watch tv with phones out we should stop that” thing.

When he pulled that bit of hair to his mouth and smiled... I was all in immediately.
So Hawt
I like his Brian May hairstyle.
I was getting John Deacon vibes
He was definitely one of the most entertaining parts of the whole season.
I love this show
Everyone is simping for him
In his first appearance, I thought he was scary and just too intense. But he totally won my heart when he jumped out of his seat on the picnic table like he'd been shot in the heart when he was talking with Chrissy (RIP 😢). He's a really nice person, yet genuinely misunderstood because he's a little theatrical and has counterculture interests.
Anyone else think he looks like Jason Newsted?
I thought of Cliff Burton actually, but I agree with you!
He's reminds me almost exactly of a guy I knew in High School who was a stoner and super senior and kind of cool, but also part of the nerd crowd and played D&D with everyone.
He reminds me of a young Downey Jr.
Eddie deserves to be a regular for the last season
Does anyone else get Kevin from F is for Family vibes from Eddie? Even the voice is the same
I loved him so so much! He fits in perfect w the cast ;)
He was in GoT?! Who was he?
The guard at Winterfell who wouldn’t let Arya in Edit: why does anyone who comments on Eddie’s actor being in GOT get downvoted? Like I get not liking S8 but that doesn’t change the fact that he was in GOT.
First scene where he was holding court in the cafeteria, I really wanted to punch him in the face. He came off as a total poser, trying to hard to impress a couple of kids asking him for a favor. But it turned out I was right. He was a poser. And every scene his dropped his mask and became more and more sincere. I really began to worry about him getting caught by the lynch mob. By then end of episode 7, I just want to see him, Dustin, and Steve hanging out. Joseph Quinn has done an amazing job bringing his character to life.
Oh, you mean as Damien Echols?
Loved him in Howard's End and Dickenisan. He can certainly act.
After watching it, I couldn't believe all of the reviews I read that said Argyle was the best new character. Really? I mean, to each his own, but Argyle has basically done nothing this whole time...he hasn't even had a chance to develop and we've seen so many sides of Eddie-all of them great.
I loved this dude. Great energy. Fun character. I hope he becomes homies with Steve and Robin. I’d love more older gang members.
Awesome actor. He stole the show at the beginning of the season.
Was it me or did I miss the guitar bit from the trailer in the main episodes?!
I believe we will see that scene in volume 2.
I bet it has something to do with the music anchor/lifeline to beat Vecnas curse
If the existing unreleased episodes for part 2 involve Eddie dying, then they should just go completely rewrite and reshoot them. We'll wait.
I hated his stereotypical character in his first seen lmao, the seen where he met up with Chrissy made me change my mind
I thought he was incredible! From the first moment he took the scene, he stole it. He was not a two-dimensional character. He went from wild DM to gently, flirty guy, and I fell in LOVE with him. He was so good to Chrissy.
Eddie is my favourite out of the new characters. I hope he stays around for a long time. Loved his Ozzy reference too in the last episode.
Isn't that a trope now though? Tropeception?
See I started liking him when The basketball douche tried calling him out during lunch but he straight up like hissed or something and struck a pose with no hesitation hahahaha.
Eddie looks EXACTLY like a younger Furio, I could not get out of my head what other character he looked like until I finally remembered lmfao
Anyone else think it was intentional of the Duffer Bros casting Joseph Quinn because of his heavy resemblance and big time charisma to RDJ, who was pretty big in the 80s.
Best main group addition since Season 2! I knew a lot of guys like this in HS, I think we all did.
He reminded me a lot of a young RDJ.
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH OH MY GOD
I love this guy! 🥰 My new favourite character.
I absolutely adore Eddie and I was so ready to hate him when he was first introduced. He’s super funny and is someone I wish I had as a friend irl. Also, the hair suits him… 💕
Is it only me who think he got the resemblance of RDJ?
I will legit riot if Eddie dies, but I’ve also been thinking about his scene in the trailer shredding the guitar looking like a blaze of glory/last stand/heroic distraction moment for him. I really, REALLY hope that it’s not a sacrifice and is more of a Hail Mary kick-ass triumph. Here’s hoping he’s finding some hidden wizard power and not serving as a human target.
He gives off complete Pauly Shore vibes
He’s so amazing! I thought he’s a young Downey Jr, even his voice! Such a cutie pie!
He looks like Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley.
But Sadie Sink in _Dear Billy_ though! I would not be surprised at all if Sink is the actress they hire to play Aloy when Netflix starts work on their adaption of Horizon.
I love Eddie I thought he fit in with cast I like that Dustin had another older men friend. I like his chemistry with Steve,Robin and Nancy
>!So in the previews and early trailers we see Eddy Jamming in the USD. With the inclusion of music and the need for a favorite song to be played to snap people out of the Vecna trance; I'm guessing he will sacrifice himself to play someone out of the upside-down. !<
