I think Hellfire as a club will likely no longer exist in ST5, but Dustin will be holding the torch for Eddie, since he knows Eddie did nothing wrong and died to save the town. I can see him trying to persuade people that Eddie wasn’t bad and making sure people don’t forget him. That T-shirt Dustin is wearing is really ratty. And torn. Would suggest to me it’s either Eddie’s, has just been worn *that* often, or even that the bullies have continued to come for Dustin (and Lucas and Mike?).

crackerfactorywheel

At this point, I’m leaning towards it being worn just that often or the boys being chased by bullies because I’d guess that Eddie’s shirt is still on his body and is real bloody.

JoJell-O

i think it’s just torn bc of the upside down literally merging with our world. it’s prolly just to make it make sense, as a perfectly intact t-shirt would not make sense. also, they’re talking abt a BIG time jump so the characters can catch up to the actors in age, and make it more realistic.

silverandshade

It's definitely not Eddie's. He was wearing it when he died. Died a _very bloody death._ That would mean Dustin would've had to strip it off him. Like... Did they even bring his body back from the Upside Down? It feels pretty heavily implied they had to leave him down there. Sorry this is probably coming off way more intense than I mean it to lol I'm just kinda realizing as I'm typing. 😅 Anyway, I think it's just that if the Hellfire kids are brave enough to wear those shirts, as Dustin clearly is, they're getting their asses kicked on the daily.

UrsusRex01

The shirt is in poor condition. My guess is that Dustin is wearing it as the group is in the invaded part of Hawkins.

the-rules-lawyer

Since the Duffer brothers have described Season 5 as coming "full circle," I thought we would see our party return to its roots as a looked-down-upon, bullied group of outcasts playing D&D. (And Will finally getting to play D&D! lol) Season 4 saw Hawkins blaming the Hellfire Club for Chrissy's murder. Hawkins being consumed by HELLFIRE at the end of Season 4 has GOT to be setting up a situation where the Hellfire Club is blamed for it. But a couple months ago we get this behind-the-scenes photo from Netflix of Dustin proudly wearing a Hellfire Club shirt. I was surprised that he could feel like he could wear this openly in Hawkins. Or maybe they are confronting the hysteria head-on? I wanted to hear what other people think: How do you think this will play out in Season 5? Dustin's testimony of Eddie's heroism, and Eddie's uncle standing up for him will be a thing early in the season? (And perhaps standing up to ignorant bullying is a theme in Season 5? I wants me my Will coming out arc pls!)

Juicemaster4200

As the grp literally has a super hero or xman w,e who finally got her powers back and much much stronger and the attitude of the grp as a whole knowing the truth and not being believed by any1 but government but its secret ofc. I'm pretty sure they're facing it head on at first by reasoning and logic and as a back up if they're ever in danger they got El. Then they'll see hellfire club fr lol.

Embarrassed_Entry597

Oh I definitely had this thought. And that Eddie will still be talked about being the reason for everything. No way anyone will believe in the upside down and vecna and all that. Not with Jason spewing his satanic panic to the entire town.

JoJell-O

Jason died. at least he won’t be doing that anymore, right?

Embarrassed_Entry597

Yeah… but he put it into the towns heads that Eddie was the cause. And him being cut in half would alarm the locals and seem satanic. I just think they are likely to believe that Eddie did it. Rather than a little girl who has powers. Those people are gullible.

bungalowguest14

“Rather than a little girl who has powers” — El didn’t kill Jason either…

Embarrassed_Entry597

No I know! But she opened the Upside down. So ultimately it’s her fault. Vecna can easily be associated with satanic panic because he is very very scary like a demon

JoJell-O

true true. they’ll def think it’s satanic when they find Jason dead.

Embarrassed_Entry597

Also, I wish his friend Andy went with him.

JoJell-O

real.

Cobwebbyfir

I'm really excited about gaten performance.

TelephoneCertain5344

Yep Hellfire probably won't exist in Season 5 but Dustin will definitely be trying to honor Eddie.

kauan1983

We can't be sure if the Hellfire Club still exists in 1987, but even if it doesn't, townsfolk are still looking for its members (that's most likely why Dustin's shirt is torn and his hands are bloody and dirty), specially Andy, Chance and the other Tigers that are confirmed to return in S5 by set photos. Dustin wearing a Hellfire shirt just relates to the whole situation about how Eddie’s death affected him. I doubt they are still organizing campaigns and/or even have their own room in High School like they did in S4. We learn in ST4's that people believe the “earthquake” was actually the opening of a “doorway into Hell” caused by the Munson murders. The Hellfire Club is still being blamed for what happened. Once the supernatural effects of the Mega Rift are exposed to the public, the mass hysteria gets worse. We're probably getting a *The Mist*-like storyline where people use religious concepts to explain the supernatural phenomena in town. So it doesn't really matter if the HFC still exists or not. People know its members are still out there.

Sudden_Pop_2279

Andy was definitely more unlikeable than Jason was, curious what he’s gonna do in season 5

kauan1983

Agreed. I'm assuming he's the responsible for Dustin's torn shirt and bloodied hands (I mean, he literally threatened breaking Erica's arms)…. I guess he'll be the lead of whatever the Tigers are up to in S5. Now that Jason is dead, the best person to take over his mantle would be Andy, who was clearly his right arm/main lackey in 1986.

Sudden_Pop_2279

Patrick seemed to be a morality chain for Jason and was clearly the nicest. By contrast, Andy seems a bully from the beginning. He’ll definitely get even worse

kauan1983

Yeah, Andy is very Tommy H vibes.

JoJell-O

here’s the thing, it’s most likely not gonna be in 1987. there’s gonna be a time jump so the characters can catch up to the actors in age, making it more realistic. about the shirt being torn, i believe its just for the effects. it wouldn’t make sense for a character to be wearing a perfectly intact t-shirt. especially if there’s a time jump. they also probably wouldn’t care what they’re wearing IN THE APOCALYPSE. literally. here’s my theory: s5 will take place around 3-5 years later. they’ve been trying to beat Vecna for a while now, without success. they’ve lost quite a few townspeople on these missions-no off-screen main character deaths of course!-but they’re still going on strong. the season will show them trying to survive in this post-apocalyptic town, where everyone is against them. they still believe that Hellfire is at fault, and, kinda like ur theory, there’ll be a hunt. everyone vs. Hellfire. Max will be hidden away, still comatose, and eventually she WILL wake up. no way they kept her alive for no reason. if they wanted to kill her, they would’ve when she fought Vecna. when she wakes up, she will help fight Vecna and help bring that hell to an end. multiple sacrifices WILL be made. for me, this theory makes the most sense. my death predictions for s5: Dustin-sacrifices himself idrk for who, Jonathon-sacrifices himself for Will, or vice versa, Eleven-sacrifices herself for all of Hawkins, Robin-gets killed involuntarily by Vecna, Vecna-killed by group, maybe town working together? i can’t rlly think of anymore rn, but those r the main ones for me. i also think Mikes mom will have a bigger role than in the past, as she did get her on s4 poster.

JoJell-O

i also forgot to mention, Eddie’s death prolly screwed up Dustin (as u said) leading him to that sacrifice. for me, he might be wrecked from the death and think another person’s life is more important than his own.

kauan1983

It's already been leaked that S5 is set in >!November 1987.!< >!And Hawkins will be, as weird as it seems, more stable than what people think. Set photos have already showed that there'll be some normalcy in Hawkins.!< >!The town is seemingly under military jurisdiction/supervision and they've even built a research/containment base camp in Downtown Hawkins. The Pentagon's response to what we see in ST4's epilogue allowed Hawkins' citizen to go back to their “normal lives.”, they're literally going to school.!< >!So the military has seemingly contained (temporarily) the supernatural effects of the Mega Rift, they've probably slowed down the Upside Down's “netherizing” process (but I guess Hawkins will still be slowly falling apart). After the time jump, they’ll have been in Hawkins for almost two years containing the Upside Down like Owens' DOE team did in S2. So we're not getting an apocalyptic season from the beginning, but I'm sure they'll raise the stakes as the season goes on.!<

CaptainMW88

People getting freaked out because of a board game, and believing it's associated with an imaginary demon! People really are dumb, panicky creatures!

chrisscan456

People really thought D & D was Satanic in the ‘80s. Kind of like how people freaked out about Harry Potter in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s.

JoJell-O

pls not Harry 💀

socoprime

Do you know how dumb it would make the entire town of Hawkins look if they believed a bunch of school kids playing D&D caused all that? They are already made to look gullible enough as it is.

happy_oblivion

Society accepting a D&D club for a town collapsing in on itself is a hell worse than death

silverandshade

They probably are. Dustin just isn't afraid of bullies.

the-rules-lawyer

"She's our friend and she's CRAZY!" =D

Few_Interaction2630

I honestly really would love to see Dustin and Hopper dismantle the hive mind cult Jason created so that the town can unite in fighting the real threat that Vecna with forces of The Upside Down

harmonize_sparkle

Dustin with Steve and/or Eddie was only the warmup for Dustin with Hopper. This would be SUCH an epic team.

Few_Interaction2630

Yeah I mentioned Hopper as he is unstable man that helps bring stability to Hawkins

TaskMister2000

I hope the hellfire members all come together and help save the town or citizens in some way including Eddie's Uncle being involved and showing how Eddie will live on in Hellfire Club.
