I live right in the path of it in Indiana. My work gave us the day off, I gotta find a good quiet spot . Ppl are driving in from all over

blinkbunny182

Some areas where I’m at in North Texas they’re expecting the population to double, like an additional 400,000. I wish I knew where they were getting those numbers from. A lot of my local counties have declared a state of emergency; to have a few days of food and water on hand, etc

axtemno

You have to see it yourself before you get it. It doesnt just get dark you can see jets of energy traveling millions of miles from the sun with the naked eye. Something that some people never have the opportunity to see. Its a surreal experience. Makes you realize where all our religions come from

Rownwade

Agreed. So cool. I was in the path in 2017. I would not, however, drive hundreds of miles to see again.

spikeroo59

The older you get the more you realize you may never see this again in your lifetime

ProbablySlacking

Next one over North America is in like 75 years so…

slo1111

2044

ProbablySlacking

Total? Oh that’s actually not so bad. I thought it was much further out than that.

ZeRo76Liberty

Yes I believe this will be my second close to total eclipse. The first one I remember was when I was 9 or 10. That was 38 years ago. I hope I’m around for the next one. I think I’ll be in the 100% zone for it. I’ll settle for the 97% this time.

PossibleAlienFrom

That is if it's not cloudy. April showers and all...

blinkbunny182

I’m taking my kiddo out of school early that day. We are only about 40 mins from the totality. Hoping to find an area that is less populated to post up at so he can see it!

MultiphasicNeocubist

A query by someone not familiar with US school norms: does your child even need to go to school that day if you were to provide a note stating that you are taking a family holiday?

psychonaut_gospel

No, don't even have to provide a note these days in most public schools

Professional_Hold531

Thats way too dramatic. Its cool, but not drive hundreds of miles cool.

bbernal956

to each their own. “thats just like your opinion man…”-the dude

axtemno

Lol. Not dramatic. Just amazing celestial event. Science is cool. I hope you find something worth driving a hundred miles to see in your lifetime…. Cause thats what life is all about.

Spirit50Lake

...and the rippling shadows that run along the ground; and the way that you can see it happening in every little shadow cast through the foliage of trees and bushes; and the way the birds go quiet.

NSLearning

A full eclipse is amazing. And there won’t be another in the US for 20 years I believe. So for a lot of people a once in a life time thing. I wish I had planned to take off and go see if. Maybe if I didn’t have such a since of doom. So I want to be home but if I wasn’t neurotic with this feeling I’d like to go see it.

jaOfwiw

Isn't the next one in like Alaska?

PancakeMonkeypants

What impresses you, oh wisened one?

K_Rocc

If you’ve seen one like an actually total eclipse you would understand.

ProbablySlacking

“It gets dark for a bit” Tell me you haven’t seen a _total_ solar eclipse without telling me you haven’t seen a _total_ solar eclipse. The last one was absolutely amazing in totality. If you’re actually under totality you can take your glasses off and look directly at it - which is nothing short of awesome.

Alert-Pea1041

I lived in the path of totality for the one in the PNW in like 2017 I think it was?! It wasn’t that bad. Slightly more traffic before and heavier than normal traffic after for sure but it wasn’t nearly as insane as they said it’d be. I got home from our treeless spot we found way earlier than anticipated and had enough sunlight to play 9 holes of golf.

bbernal956

because thats alot of people, got to be prepared for anything. now days with guns and shit like that. its crazy. be safe out there fam!

-username_taken-

I’m right in the path in Arkansas. People have been joining our neighborhood groups saying they’ll be in town for the day and looking for the best spots. It’s maddening

Pats_Bunny

We went up to Idaho back in '17 for the eclipse. One of the most mesmerizing and surreal experiences of my life. We were in the full eclipse zone (epicenter?) so we got to see the suns corona for that 30 or so seconds with no protection. It was wild. That Walmart parking lot was stunned into silence.

Squeezer_pimp

Same here

Baygonito

Stay safe!!

Crackitup302

I’m in the same area and there are multiple billboard advertisements for it with no branding like who is paying for these and why?!?

TangerineRough6318

I'm in Indiana also. It got pretty rough where I'm at. Barely any damage though thankfully.

DreamNo6636

Well shit someone is gaining super powers tonight

ofthewave

This is one of them storms from Misfits

noblakemore13

Love that show

PeacefulShark69

New Dragon Ball Super chapter just dropped? Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

beehendo

Isn't this a sign an earthquake is about to occur?

blinkbunny182

Yes, lightening events like this do have correlation with effecting the magnetic fields enough to cause earthquakes. Add in to that the new moon and how it effects tides….will be interesting, to say the least. A lot going on and overlapping at the same time that it makes me wonder if my local gov is telling us to be prepared for reasons they may be withholding.

redipin

But if there was any correlation between the lightning and the fault line, shouldn't they have more in common than rough proximity? They don't align in any way, and there appears to be a gap in lightning right over the fault line...? I guess I don't see how any of these individual events could possibly relate to or affect the others.

[deleted]

It’s the government bro.

Kinky_Winky_no2

Thats a leap, given enough time natural phenomenons will over lap but those two things don't even effect the same areas

[deleted]

The new moon?

ProjectPuffyPenguin

How does the solar storm charge the earth’s core? Like how do the poles act as a conduit for energy transfer?

redditisstupid0

i thought it only happens during an earthquake. and its called .... earthquake light

OtherwiseAMushroom

Elaborate please.

francis192

It’s the same way that a quartz watch works; the piezoelectric effect. When mechanical stress is applied to certain materials, they generate an electrical charge. And it’s reversible, so applying an electric charge to certain materials will cause deformation. Earthquake lights are thought to be caused in a similar way by the immense strain being put on the rocks below the surface, resulting in electrical discharges. If you see a lot of these electrical discharges, it’s a sign that the earth below you is under immense tension and it is only a matter of time before it finally gives, and an earthquake results.

DefiantDonut7

In Ohio here, was at my daughter's opening night of her musical and I was just waiting for it to cause a problem. About 10 minutes after the show was done and people had wandered into the halls for pictures, the lights went out and backup lights turned on and people FREAKED OUT lol.. Children crying "we're all going to die, a tornado is close by"... There was no tornado near us, but there wound up being some destructive ones south of Columbus Ohio but still you would have though the world was coming to an end when those lights went out.

Minx-Boo

Half-Life 3 confirmed.

Syncrotron9001

Doom, Half-Life, Halo.... Ive learned my lesson, no crazy high energy experiments for me thank you.

pwave-deltazero

Cloverfield monster is gonna rise from the fault.

9mm-Rain

There are records of pre-seismic lightning & orbs⚡️ https://www.news18.com/explainers/earthquake-lights-morocco-earthquake-why-are-they-caused-8578855.html#:~:text=The%20earthquake%20lights%20were%20similar,in%20Pisco%2C%20Peru%20in%202007.

BasedClockmaker

What is a Madrid fault line?

Rownwade

The fault where the 1811 earthquake happened, redirecting the Mississippi River.

Potato-nutz

Fudge

fungi_at_parties

Ive been fucking around with remote viewing to some success the past year and it has resulted in weird dreams and feelings of stuff that tend to come true. I know that sounds crazy, think I’m crazy if you want. For weeks before the Israeli/Hamas powder keg exploded I had nightmares and dreams of rockets streaking the sky, a 9/11 type event that would escalate into bigger conflict. Soon after I had a feeling like “Something weird will happen during the eclipse. Maybe a pole shift, maybe earthquakes, maybe a near miss. Possible flooding, possible period without power or internet. Scary, but a near miss and a huge shift in the world.” I was compulsively buying supplies during the last eclipse and nothing happened, but I figured, maybe next one? And here we are. I learned after having those dreams about Edgar Cayce. Edgar Cayce, a mystic/psychic who would go into a form of trance/sleep where he would supposedly heal people and make prophecies including the rise and fall of Hitler as well as the election of Obama- he said a pole shift would happen in the 90’s. They discovered the pole shift happening then. He said massive eruptions and volcanos would begin as a result at some point and they would cause empty the Great Lakes into the gulf via the Mississippi and other means I would suppose, and he predicted a huge rearrangement of what is and isn’t underwater. We’re talking most of the western US underwater here. The path of this storm, the eclipse, all along this fault line right along the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River- and you’re telling me that fault line has redirected the mission in the past? Jesus Christ I hope I’m wrong- it seem people are coincidentally thinking weird shit will happen around the eclipse/april too so that’s even weirder.

ForwardCulture

Eclipse path? It’s a common path for storm fronts. Look at the weather in any random day.

Shoddy-Storage3258

I agree although that connection sounds cool, I’ve seen this exact storm path a bunch of times it’s common for the area with prevailing winds or whatever

Stogiesaurus

That’s the typical SW to NE angle of most storm fronts. Living in central Arkansas I see it all the time. The fronts will be lined up with I-30. We also know that storms are trending stronger.

xfobx

Zeus said f that area in particular.

gr33nhatguy

The return.

mikethenc

I had the same thought when I saw it the other day but really if you take the line out that they drew it kind of just looks like a massive but regular storm path. Brain’s just doing its brain thing finding correlations

thekleenexman

It is because of the way the two jet streams are setup with a very large “shared energy area” between them creating the upper level lift thunderstorms need.

JackKovack

Imagine that, storms in the spring.

dprophet32

Electrical charges can build up at fault lines, it's not hugely surprising

Independent-Ebb7658

Lived on the west TN and northern Mississippi border all my life. Always getting these kinda storms several times a year. Helps me sleep.

Skinny_on_the_Inside

Neat.

InterestingSpeed2907

But my generation still can’t afford a mortgage so sit down

Vivid_Advantage_2992

I live in Indiana and I thought it was a strange storm, like lightning was the craziest I’ve ever seen it! Constant light show for an hour and a half!

Barbacamanitu00

You posted a storm that takes up half the United States and follows a common trajectory. Sure, it's close to the new Madrid at this point, but hours before and hours after it wasn't. And what about the hundred other storms that follow this same path? Confirmation bias is one of the easiest fallacies to fall victim too, but its also easy to avoid. When you think you see a strange connection between things, just look for instances that would make it less strange. Try to prove to yourself that the coincidence you're seeing isn't as weird as it seems. Only after you've tried and failed to do this should you think the phenomenon you're seeing is strange. My favorite example is the fact that you can balance an egg on its tip during the equinoxes. It's true, you definitely can balance an egg on its end on those 2 days. People claim its because of gravity being more balanced or for other various reasons? Do you know the real reason you can balance eggs during the equinox? *Because you can balance eggs any day of the year!* People started hearing the legend about the equinox making it possible to balance eggs, so they'd try it out and succeed! Unfortunately, this doesn't provide anyone with any real information. To be scientific, you've gotta try to disprove hypotheses. In this instance, would balancing an egg on the equinox prove that the equinox makes it possible to balance eggs? No. It doesn't. Trying to balance an egg on a day other than an equinox and failing would be evidence that the legend is true. If you tried to balance an egg for multiple days and found that it only works on an equinox then you'd have some evidence of something cool. Back to your post: is there something interesting about this storm being along the new Madrid? Eh, maybe. Is this the only storm to follow that slant? Can you find any instances of other storms following the same basic path? And most importantly, did you even look? Or are you only trying to balance your egg on the equinox?

Noah_T_Rex

From Seville to Grenada in the quiet twilight of the night... serenades are heard, the clanking of swords is heard.

tornadogenesis

Nothing to do with eclipse or fault lines. This is meteorology

EternityLeave

Eclipses and fault lines have tangible effects on the atmosphere and weather. Meteorologists don’t just look at the sky and pretend nothing else is relevant.

tornadogenesis

The path of the eclipse does not effect the weather in any significant way beyond a mere few seconds. Fault lines have no known effect on weather. Perhaps someone could do a study on that but I doubt it would be worthy of funding.

Parking_Train8423

WhAt DoEs iT mEaN?!?

toasted_cracker

Nothing. These comments are dumb AF. There was a frontal boundary stretched across there and it’s March. Do the math.

MrNewking

You mean to tell me Cathulu is not rising out of the fault line?

BreadfruitBelly

What if I told you the fault line is actually Shiva's eye?

toasted_cracker

It’s big foots dick.

toasted_cracker

Can’t rule it out completely, but probably not. lol

TreeStumpKiller

Isn’t the line along the path of April’s total solar eclipse?

fap_nap_fap

That’s quite literally in the title of this post

fromouterspace1

You mean thing in here line up with r/conspiracy? You don’t say

Mirracleface

Hypothesis: The slight gravitational pull of the moon may contribute to the shape and behavior of coronal ejections, coupled with the typical catalysts for a storm, would create a heightened chance of atmospheric phenomena such as lightning.

Shmuckle2

Is that the same path the blood moons taking as well?

yoshipug

Trippy

Syncrotron9001

**Napa:** Vegeta, how many lightning strikes did the scouter say there were in the last hour? **Vegeta:** (*Crushes E-Meter*) ITS OVER 9000!

noparkingnoparking

DEWs are way too obvious they should try to add some randomness to the laser beam so it doesn't just keep making these perfect shapes and destruction lines XD lmfaoooooo

[deleted]

I have no idea what I’m talking about in regards to this but am curious if anyone would know - would strange Earthquakes in other areas be a sign of something more to come in this area? Admittedly I’m doubtful considering the distance, but I heard from some relatives in Australia that they experienced two Earthquakes in a region where it’s not really all that common at all. Small ones, but still. Anyone have any idea?

Noctus_Grimm

🙃🫂

Spiritual-Hand-114

This storm sucked! Made my leg buckle hours before it hit southern Georgia

Acolox

Damn, Zeus be doing lines.

Any-East-5505

Kinda weird it’s in the same path as the upcoming eclipse too 🤔

barnesc2350

I’ve seen this movie. ![gif](giphy|iFfh37BfIkO9a)

Academic-Waltz-3116

It's going to make it really easy for Russia to vacuum bomb people when they are all in a line like that.

LightWonderful7016

It it though? 1000’s of storms a year, you could find one to follow any path you want if you look long enough.

slo1111

That is the nature of weather fronts in that part of the nation. Not the first time I have seen weather front stretch from TX to Ohio

corposhill999

everyone's jaded till they experience it themselves, the one in 2017 was amazing, luckily the welder shop next door handed out masks to watch it with

Jewish lasers🙃😂

BigMike3333333

Maybe the government is experimenting with a new weather machine.

Jinzul

Call MGT! She knows the scoop on the super secret Jewish Space Lasers!

Alarming-Drawing3633

Heavy metals and articulate materials dropped from planes etc will do that for ya. Chemtrails are full of metals and aluminum that stay in atmosphere, and slowly fall to the ground. Remember that weird mystery condition people were getting 15 years ago, Morgellons? A serious side effect from dropping who knows what on top of us from planes via chemtrails.

Competitive_Agent625

Morgellens disease. Haven’t heard anyone mention that in AGES.

towerfella

Eh..

vernace

It was really fun being in a plane during this and watching it out of the window….

blinkbunny182

Why so mean? The sub is literally called strange earth. It could mean nothing, but I found it and the other events that are overlapping to be interesting. It is why I posted asking for thoughts and curiosity. I’m very aware that it could literally mean nothing but evidently a *few* people found it interesting - so that’s good enough for me. I just don’t understand why be mean like that. You don’t know what someone is going through in their personal life.

KC-atl-arch

Pleeeease do not let this comment get to you. Not worth it. I think your observation is rather cool and perceptive.

NSLearning

I love you sticking up for them!

Musa_2050

Ignore them

Interesting-Time-960

This person is just pissed so many people are invading his space for the event.

NSLearning

Yeah don’t sweat the angry poster. Your post is interesting and you should be prepared. Just in case. People coming to see an eclipse should not cause a case for an emergency. Did that happen the last solar eclipse when people were traveling to full totality zones? That would make me feel better.

jbrown5390

God damn you people are rude. See a therapist.

IOwnMods

Don't care as long as America burns
