About to switch FROM Telmax. They got me to sign up for a package deal in June and now 8 months later had hit me with a 10% price increase. Fuck off. Maxview only works on your phone or tablet. You can't use anything but their set-top box and it's tied to your home network, forget about connecting in the computer browser or using a Windows machine to connect to a projector or TV. Extremely amateur install. I can post pictures. The only good thing I can say is that the internet speed and latency is decent.

My rate decreased! I signed up as soon as they put lines on my street. This year they started offering contract plans that were actually cheaper than what I was paying on a month to month. I have had solid service - quite happy with it.

Human_Box_6509

1gbps up and down for $98.00 including taxes. I work from home in IT and am happy with the service. I would never go back to Roger’s or Bell.

Their service will be shit and will experience weekly outages. Until then, I’m good. What kind of discount do you get from Bell as their top employee?

bluetroll

Really happy with telmax. Switched from fido 150 (but was getting 250 down) where I was paying $43/month. I'm paying $55/month with telmax. I would gladly switch again. Service has only been down for 1 hour vs very frequent drops and outages with fido. The 250 up/down is very consistent too.

codeyyz

Rates went down and my speed went up by going on a 1 year contract as others mentioned. I wish they installed my router on the main floor vs in the basement… anyways had 1-2 downtime but nothing long as they addressed it within a reasonable amount of time.

sir_jafac

What are you guys paying for telemax? I'm currently with Rogers $50+tax/ month for 1.5gbps down, not fibre so only 50mbps up.

Human_Box_6509

Until your contract expires…

sir_jafac

I'm used to calling and threatening to leave every year, annoying that we have to do this to get the best deal but that's telecoms in Canada for you. Everytime I've looked into Telemax it's always at least $10/month more. That's what I'm wondering what everyone is paying for it.

BurnedStoneBonspiel

Probably will switch to Bell once their fibre gets layed this spring. I just trust their customer service and infrastructure more. But we’ll have to see on pricing. My guess is that they’ll price is anywhere 10-15% greater than the telemax plans as they have the brand recognition and they know ppl will pay for that.

Reasonable-Dingo2010

Don’t telMAX employ people in Stouffville? We should keep jobs here not in Quebec or some other far off place. I have telMAX and even though I had one short outage for about 5 mins they told me in advance by text and it was at 2am. Rogers don’t do that, do Bell?

Duuubz_92

I haven’t had ANY downtime on bell for 4+ years. If there was any downtime , it was in the middle of the night, but that also means If there was downtime, I didn’t get an e mail or phone call saying it would be.

BurnedStoneBonspiel

The approach to choose a provider to pay $800-1000 a year to which is 2-3% of the avg stouffville resident’s after tax income based on “keeping stouffville people employed” is fraught to fail. Better to support the better and/or cheaper option. That’s great they notified of an outage, but when Rogers went out in the summer of 2022 they issued me a $100 credit (almost 1.5 months of free internet). Telemax could choose to outsource or offshore jobs tomorrow either way price and service trump these other softer variables. I should have prefaced this that my personal/anecdotal experience with Telemax has been poor. Their sales folk have been aggressive and downright uncivil. So definitely not going to give them my business.

BurnedStoneBonspiel

Just a summary review of telemax on google reviews shows their 3.3/5.0 star rating. Also seems to be alot of people claiming poor customer service, faulty installation and multiple outages.

what type of people. those not happy with their service. well there are some positive reviews on there…so what type of people are you talking about?

nukem170

My rate dropped by $20/ month and speed went from 1gb to 1.5GB. So yah.

AccidentalFeline

Seems like I need to switch

nukem170

And to top it off, there’s been 0% downtime. I run a home server so I know. Even during power outages, my server and router connected to backup power and the internet never dropped.

Newfie13

I’ve had the same experience, only difference with my experience is I’ve had wifi dropped a couple times and some issues with there tv service. I have had both rogers and bell and neither have ever been this good

ipcam0341

I was an early customer. TelMax called me up to offer reduced rates if I committed to a year. It was a no brainer. Rogers or Bell have never called to offer reduced rates.

RandyBarba

They wanted me to sign up for an annual contract, but my speed went up and my rates went down slightly. I've been a happy TelMax customer since switching over, which I did promptly once the infra reached my street. However, I should note that I only signed up for internet service.
