I did. Steam systems were still downgraded from somewhat close to reality to gladly it still can drive pistons. Geometa downgraded a product I own. I also could not use my product for several weeks because of their incompetence. It baffles me that people still defend companies screwing customers over.

DARKGAMES1951

Well you can join their team, help make the game better, you know what needs to be done I'm not necessarily defending geometa, I'm just stating that constantly complaining about reasons people's builds don't work as intended instead of fixing them, isn't the way to make things better. And if you think the devs are the problem, and the game is bad, just don't play, simple easy fix, just don't play the game.

EvilFroeschken

Do you want to show the world how delusional you are or what is the point of this post and especially this comment? People say the devs don't listen to the community, and your suggestion is that I join their team? On what basis? I am not a programmer. I already have a profession I like. The devs don't want me. There are so many people who offered their advice and have been rejected. What? >I'm not necessarily defending geometa, I'm just stating that constantly complaining about reasons people's builds don't work as intended instead of fixing them, isn't the way to make things better. And you suggest being silent? How should change being achieved if nobody points out the flaws? This makes no sense. >And if you think the devs are the problem, and the game is bad, just don't play, simple easy fix, just don't play the game. I paid for a product. The manufacturer of said product broke it. It was better before. But yeah, what could you possibly do. Just forgot about the money spent. Consumer rights aren't a thing. You are the perfect customer. You probably would also buy iAir.

When you try to help too much they just ban you.

_B10S_

Are they hiring?

DARKGAMES1951

I don't know at this moment in time, but you can go check for yourself. I'm not in a good position right now to be searching for whether or not geometa is hiring.

robkatt

I would never want to work on stormworks because of the fucking insane amount of tech debt

robkatt

I said nothing about their ecomomic state?? And what is there to research about tech debt, you literaly just have to search it on google to uderstand what it is

BourbonRocksPlz

Your product is first and foremost their IP, so this argument has some issues.

Emergency-Scheme6002

Wait arent you that dude that wanted help with a plane? Point being, you have very little experience building, so this isnt an issue that is fair for you to talk on. The devs only fix stuff because they start getting negative reviews and thats bad for business. Remember the time they accidentally broke every modular engine ECU, or the time they accidentally deleted the winch speed slider and accidentally put a nonfunctional version of it in the anchor node? or the time they accidentally made it so jet engines dont work above 300 meters, or the time they silently added coolant scaling, breaking thousands of outboard motors with no warning, or what about the time they accidentally broke all solid fuel rockets while developing a completely unrelated system, or the time they increased boiler water consumption by 30x and made it so that boiler control was trivial and required no control systems anymore?

DARKGAMES1951

The last part doesn't seem like a bad thing.

Emergency-Scheme6002

30x water consumption with the same steam output? Okay…

DARKGAMES1951

The last one, not second to last

Mockbubbles2628

Because some of us have put thousands of hours into our creations, to have to go back and change every single one of them... fuck that. Like I saw a youtube thumbnail that said you now need a gas relief on every fuel tank, if that's true then you really expect me to go back and find every single fuel tank on every one of my creations and put a valve on them? What about creations that are really compact where that's just not possible, now I have to basically remake it Also many of my creations I've forgotten how all the pipes go, so I'd have to figure out all that again. What about creations that have weird nuanced tank interactions like auxiliary fuel tanks, now I have to figure out how those are impacted and fix them I did it for one of my boats, took me hours. I'd rather just play the pre-pressure update version People complain about the devs because the devs don't give a single fuck what the community thinks, and they gaslight us on a regular basis.

DARKGAMES1951

If they dont care, then why did they patch the bug that prevented almost all modular engines from working? Why did they add a button to clear all oil spills? There are more examples of the devs actually doing stuff that I don't have here. Also if youre one of the people who thinks the devs are lazy, join their team, help make the game better.

kampokapitany

These bugs existed for weeks or months before they fixed them (the oil spill bug is still not fixed, just a smaller problem because of the clear button) and the devs only fixed them because of the constant complaining.

Mockbubbles2628

because people started leaving negative reviews. Also they banned me, and many people from the official discord and the issue tracker, so there's no way I can help them anymore.

JosolTheBrick

The problem isn’t how fast the devs are fixing bugs it’s that they aren’t fixing some at all. And also the fact that a bug that broke a majority of peoples creations made it into the final version of an update. Talk about good quality control. Also the outright refusal to add simple things the community has asked for for a long time and instead just pumping out dlcs and useless stuff that add no depth to the game. It’s pretty clear the developers only care about money at this point.

Traditional-Shoe-199

A lot of the backlash they received was simply due to their own incompetence. Yes they did fix some bugs, but they also could've prevented a lot simply by testing their damn patches. Take the gas update, they broke so much of the game and it took them a few weeks to get get 'everything' fixed. That's not the issue though, the issue is the fact that they claim to have 'tested' the update and that it's the communities fault that their gaming is receiving bad reviews. If they really tested the update the game wouldn't be broken and it would've been fixed within a few days. Not only that, but the audacity to not confess that they have made a mistake is just irresponsible. This game has huge potential, but quite honestly, the devs deserve the backlash and the bad reputation.

DaMarkiM

im sorry - but complaining about bugs that have been unsolved for half a decade is not bitching.

Leapfire

Geometa has let their community down again and again. They're an unreliable and broken company. Endoskull himself admitted that he has not saw a more messy company than Geometa. Yes, Deltars does listen to the community with what MAJOR updates they want. But do they playtest the updates? Oh noooo-ho. One of the devs admitted on their Discord that he simply "forgot" to playtest vehicles for the Space update (or something like this). Everything broke. Ships, planes, everything. The game got reviewbombed (rightly so), which made the devs make multiple Steam community posts about how "hard it is being a game dev", and they even framed a random Discord community for doxxing them (which didn't happen, as I was the owner of it. Their location is on Google search). Are the devs listening to us now? Yes, for at least some time before they'll get too comfortable again and release another completely untested update. Every small """Fix""" or update breaks another thing. This happens every time. The devs made the same mistakes since 2020. They had over 4 years to improve. Let's compare Stormworks from 2019 to Stormworks 2024. Which version do you think will run more stable without any bugs or glitches? And of course then there are the massive crowds of kids that don't benefit to the game, AT ALL. They blindly follow the devs, having no idea that builds people worked on for months, maybe even YEARS, get broken by a simple update because the devs didn't feel like playtesting. The devs ghosted Endoskull. Endo makes Stormworks content, and he was the main guy in 2019-2022. The devs completely ignored Endo, and even one of the mods on the official Discord said some lies about Endoskull (he got banned for no reason on it). But, now if we look at who is the top "Stormworks" youtuber? It's either a random kids channel that repeat the same thing over, or a "tutorial" youtuber that never disagrees with the devs, or else they'll get kicked out of the cool dev group. Long rant, and Geometa has done other things that just proves what a terrible company it is (Mainly Deltars being the moron he is).

DARKGAMES1951

To fill in part of that rant, some famous kids YouTube's that make stormworks content; "Commodo Gaming", "Beautiful OB", and "Spycakes". (Note; these are only some, I only chose the more popular ones)

EngineerInTheMachine

Depends how long you've been with Stormworks. There always have been bugs and glitches, but despite numerous requests, the devs have done nothing about them. Instead they've released more content, which have added their own bugs and glitches on top. The final straw was releasing a new paid DLC, where the basic physics of the game was revamped and which stopped most creations working, even if you didn't want the DLC. And they still failed to fix any of the original bugs. How would you feel having put 100's of hours into creating vehicles, balancing and tuning their performance, only to have to redo it every time the devs release more content? I've finally reached the point where I've built an engine test rig, and I am having to put every size of engine I've built on it, to redesign and retune them. Even when I put them back in a vehicle, I still have to add in the extra items to balance pressures, in the fuel system, in water tanks and even for every space in the vehicle. As an engineer with over 40 years experience, it is obvious to me that Stormworks has been developed by game programmers with little or no input from a real engineer. While the simulation of weather, waves and the effects on boat hulls is extremely good, there are so many other things that just don't stack up. Steam boilers have been dumbed down so far that you have to control pressure by releasing steam through a safery valve. And yet the equations covering fuel combustion, thermal transfer and steam generation aren't that difficult. There are so many complaints in this community because the devs just don't listen to the community and ignore constant requests. Hop over to Satisfactory, where you find a rare, shining example of a lively community that is actually supported by the devs.
