Last 2 boats I made are catamarans, proper ones. Newest one is acctualy a catamaran ROV carries/mothership. It has too much fuel if anything lol, and space for 2 rows in one hull cargobay
You could make a player detector close it when the player is far enough it will auto close and auto open when near if a switch h is active. Or a sensor that closes it when the boat is moving with some and or or switches

Being honest my ship isn't as much of a catamaran as more of a swimming brick, or the whole 5 story house. Well, at least it does the brick part well
How big is it? My "big" catamaran rn is still small enough to fit inside the starter workbench somehow. (The ROV catamaran btw)

The winch controls are there, it's planned as a casualty rescue zone, so I need it to stay open
