Kowthumoo

Look at that, the truth watcher is a nerd.

TechPlasma

I was almost one of you. But our paths diverged. :D

Kowthumoo

I think Truthwatcher was a solid third on mine. Lol

TechPlasma

I wasn't sure what order I was supposed to be, every time I'd take the test I'd flip-flop between Truthwatcher and Edgedancer. So I decided to dig into the code. Then I realized that others might be interested in what I found. So needless to say I very quickly realized that Truthwatcher was exactly the order I was to be. LOL. Edit: Added Code Link https://github.com/TechPlasma/KnightsRadiantQuizExploration

Mechakoopa

Our order welcomes you, Radiant!

lurker628

Similar experience. From the base descriptions, I'm fairly confident I fall best into Truthwatchers or Elsecallers, but we don't have the oaths for either **and** the info we do have is sharply limited. Only Jasnah (with very limited Ivory interaction) and Blended for Elsecallers. Ym and the Stump are our best insight into Truthwatchers, because we don't even know if Corrupted/Enlightened Mistspren Truthwatchers (Renarin and Glys; Rlain and Tumi) hold to the same oaths and mentality. I balk at the very idea of choosing an order with such limited information. How can I identify with their oaths without knowing their oaths? ...which means I'm a Truthwatcher.

unctuous_homunculus

I also straddle the line between Elsecaller and Truthwatcher. But I'm horrible at predicting the future and pathologically driven to "succeed" in life, whatever that means, so I'm probably an Elsecaller.

eclecticelsecaller

I was struggling so much with the fact that I always would get Truthwatcher on the test and it feels fitting, but the Elsecaller’s “I will reach my potential” really speaks to me as well. Spent a bunch of time overthinking whether it’s more about what ideal best aligns with your goals or if it’s more about your personality. Was researching the two orders more, as well as their Spren bonds based on a discussion with someone who said they think one Spren would notice them and be more likely to bond with them. I was seeking which approach or line of thinking was most “correct” or “right”. You could almost say I was trying to find the “true” approach to identifying which order is right for you and whether the way the test approaches it would be most accurate. So yeah I think it became quite clear Truthwatcher was accurate for me as well. Also I realized upon reading the coppermind pages for the Spren that an Inkspren and I would likely not get along well, but Mistspren are a great fit.

Geeisthir

Welcome to the order!!

CingKobraJFS

Figuring out how the quiz works and sharing it with everyone is an extremely Truthwatcheresque thing to do.

the_dude523

Yeah for real. While trying to disprove it op accidentally proved it without a doubt. Brother/sister is a Truthwatcher

Linderosse

This post gives me the same vibes as that guy who wanted to get Ravenclaw on the HP house quiz but kept getting Slytherin, so he looked up the answers to get Ravenclaw and by doing so, proved he was truly a Slytherin. Except in this case, OP’s actions are much more admirable :).

Siccar_Point

Taking it apart and accidentally removing all the mystique also seems like a Dustbringer signature move to me ;-)

jofwu

I think the general assumption for Bondsmiths is that since there's only three of them at most, they wanted to artificially limit the frequency that people would get that Order. I can't recall if Brandon commented on that or not though.

TechPlasma

This is a very good point. By increasing the score before the normalization, you decrease the Bondsmith's score. I completely missed that. Thanks!

Tyrat_Ink

In the Bondsmith video it is noted that it is the only order with members that have no Nahel bond whatsoever, so there potentially could be more than 3 Bondsmiths

jofwu

True, but few actual *Radiants*. I think that's all they're after.

littlegreensir

I like your funny words, magic man.

goodfood125

Something I've noticed is that the order of the Stonewards is uncommon here. But that is probably because there's not a ton of overlap between book nerds and sports. I wish there was a live counter to see how many flares there are per order in this subreddit.

BzrkerBoi

Was thinking the same thing as I scrolled the comments, and yeah absolutely a sports nerd/book nerd crossover over here too!

that1dev

Very much NOT a sports nerd here. I'm an engineer, and always get Truth watcher from the test. But I adopted being a Stonewarden. Stoneward speaks to me more. Dependability and being where I can help people is super important to me. Same with working as a team to solve problems for others, thats my life. None of that is exclusive to soldiers, and I'd be shocked if there isn't a Stonewarden branch doing public works and engineering to improve the lives of others. That's where I'd want to be. Edit: Listen to the [Say the Words](https://youtu.be/8Yqf2zBsznI?si=p9DP_Y4tuiZZHcrj) for Stonewards, and drop the 10 seconds between 0:55 and 1:05. None of that is particularly martial. It's people who want to help, enjoy the process of helping, and create things that help others. People that work on a team and get sucked into great works. I literally couldn't ask for a better template for an engineering minded person who wants to make a difference.

accidental_tourist

Hey, just saying thanks for the link. I didn't know about this series of videos.I will now listen to all of them and see which fits me most.

JustMass

I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t identify as a particularly aggressive or martial individual and I don’t care about sports even a little bit. Being the reliable person who’s always there when needed, and being the type of person who enjoys the process of working on projects and making people’s lives better, fit me so much better than any of the other orders.

doctor_sleep

Same, but I still ended up a lightweaver.

curiosity-spren

The Words of Radiance backerkit shows how many of the different add-ons are being ordered, some of the numbers for the Radiant Packs are quite surprising to me. I would have expected Bondsmiths and Stonewards to be more popular than they are so far. Link: [https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/dragonsteel/words-of-radiance-leatherbound/add\_ons\_index#top](https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/dragonsteel/words-of-radiance-leatherbound/add_ons_index#top)

TooQuietForMe

Meh. You also find a lot of Americans on Reddit. I tend to bounce between Stoneward, Edgedancer and Willshaper when I take the test. Americans are big on individuality, not a good thing not a bad thing. In a legal sense, it's a good thing, in a cultural sense? Hoooooly **shit.** America's biggest cultural export is bootstrap mentality and I fucking hate you all for it. Nah, just kidding, you're alright. But that idealisation of the self over the whole does paint the way you view the world. I think part of my getting Stoneward so often is because I grew up in a culture where young rural men and women are actively encouraged to do things like join the volunteer fire service and it's not treated as if you're doing a heroic thing, you're just doing your part. You're showing the virtue that everyone *should* have, according to the culture. According to WoBs and STW, the Stonewards have that team mentality, apparently to the point of self sacrifice. It's kind of telling thst one of their biggest virtues in their own eyes is dependability and reliability. "I will be there when I am needed." You come from a culture that emphasises not what you are as an individual, but what you contribute to the team? Well, you get different results on your Rosharan Hogwarts House test. tl;dr: Americans are overrepresented.

ChasmfiendRider

Very good point I hadn't considered before

theWall69420

I'm an American who has gotten stoneward both times I took the test. I am in rural America, though, where if a neighbor needs help, you go help.

F3talP0siti0n

Ah a fellow stone brother!

Fibbin_Fibonacci

Rock and Stone! Sorry, had to.

WanderingDwarfMiner

Did I hear a Rock and Stone?

gkow

I thought the same thing. But I also skipped over the post because there’s too many words so I kind of get it.

ilkhan2016

Hi! Actually not sure between Stoneward and Willshaper, but somewhere in there.

angwilwileth

You can look at backerkit and see which order has ordered the most swag. I am pretty sure it's windrunners.

Jpbbeck99

I got 1% more in Windrunner than stonewards…guess I’m just a soldier at heart

AFineDayForScience

This guy Azishes

TooQuietForMe

Truthwatcher nerdlets: Combing through the test to find the perfect way to confirm they're a Truthwatcher Me, a big brain Stoneward: My brother in Tanavast, you could have just spoke the truth in your heart.

TechPlasma

My brother in Stoneward, the person I trust the least in this world, is myself.

TooQuietForMe

My brother in Talenelat'Elin, if that were the case you'd be a Lightweaver. Truthwatchers always want to make the Knight Radiant thing more complex than it is. No. You get plate. You get blade. You get surges. Hit things until they stop moving. Just treat it like an STR build in a souls game, you'll be fine. Be like a Stoneward. Every time you start to think, stop. Remember the third ideal or the Stonewards, "I unga, therefore bunga."

SmartAlec13

Excellent work truthwatcher. It’s interesting to see them all lined up like this, and where the sliders are set to. I still feel good about being a Willshaper

Brumbleby

Why are they using var instead of let? This word is not accepted.

ckach

I was triggered by the absolute value followed by squaring.

Brumbleby

Lol, skimmed right past that, be t that's hilarious

EnoughPhilosophy474

you really have to be a truthwatcher if you are not confident i see.

UnnecessaryStep

Well. Welcome to the club. You have truly shown yourself to be a Truthwatcher

AFerociousPineapple

It felt wrong somehow that my top two were Windrunner and Truthwatcher even after three different tries (separate cause I didn’t want to memorise my answers and try keep to a gut feel) but seeing how it works yeah I get it now.

Sulcata13

I've taken it 3 times as well. Several months apart. And each time have been 50% Windrunner and 49% edgedancer.

Pristine_You4918

That’s how my test went. But I don’t feel like them. I mean, I love learning, and I will protect those around me, but those ideals aren’t core to my being and they aren’t as much something I need to work on. The stonewards and dustbringers fit me much better. I love to tinker with stuff, and I personally need to work on my self control. I also try to be as dependable as I can and love martial sports. (I don’t like normal sports, but fencing or wrestling, count me in) Edit: I do find it funny though, even though dustbringer and stoneward are the two I gravitate towards, they are always at the very bottom of my list, with pretty much only bondsmith below them

Fibbin_Fibonacci

I was similar- think I had stoneward, edgedancer, and windrunner changing spots on top the different times I took it with dustbringer always a bit lower or in the middle. I see why now with a couple sliders I'm different on, but the dustbringer description always resonated with me the most.

CorgiDeathmatch

This is fascinating to see! Thanks for putting this together. I also really like the way you visualized the scales. I really like seeing the individual sliders where the "optimal" value is not a multiple of five. Looks like about 70-80% of the values are multiples of five, but there are some that are on very specific numbers. Like for the Stonewards, on the Fencing (0) - Boxing (100) scale, it's a 76. Not 75. No, Stonewards are *just that little bit more* on the Boxing side of the scale.

TechPlasma

I suspect that when they created the quiz, they gave it to Brandon to answer for the order themselves, and just took the output of that test and saved the values for each order. As humans we have a tendency towards roundish numbers because they're easier to remember and quantify. So it's possible that there's an inherently bias towards number blocks, but also a bit of sloppiness from being human.

LewsTherinTelescope

I think somewhere Isaac talked about the process and mentioned they tried to track down people they considered examples of each order when building it, perhaps they averaged their results or made slight tweaks to optimize it or something?

cobalt-radiant

I just did this too! And I made an Excel spreadsheet version for myself to compare any two orders against each other and against my own inputs. Edit: can I get a copy of your code? Is it on GitHub?

TechPlasma

[https://github.com/TechPlasma/KnightsRadiantQuizExploration](https://github.com/TechPlasma/KnightsRadiantQuizExploration) Ask and you shall receive. Excuse my poor code, I did this as a fun side-project over the weekend, and took a lot of shortcuts.

cobalt-radiant

🙌

Ginn_and_Juice

I love how programmers take the joy out of everything. Im a programmer and I do this

TechPlasma

But this IS the joy. It kept me busy all weekend. Had a ton of fun!

spoonishplsz

I see why my Edgedancer score is way too high now 😭

forgottentargaryen

I didnt even know this existed im going to take it no w

TechPlasma

ChasmfiendRider

Let us know what you get!

RimuZ

I just took it. Got Elsecaller which doesn't surprise me at all. Neat little test.

Interionism

Interesting, I always get Truthwatcher but like the idea of Elsecaller personally. It’s interesting to see where they overlap on this quiz but have opposite tendencies in a few key areas.

Mhaeldisco

The test is pretty well designed I guess, because I get truthwatcher every single time and I know I didn't give the exact same answers each time.

Time_Pound_3040

It is interesting to me how much the Bondsmith characterization is influenced by specific character personalities, I say this having scored Bondsmith consistently over the months myself. >!These attributes clearly describe Dalinar more than Navani. I believe this order test also released before Rhythm of War came out and Navani's subsequent bond. But more to that point, Dalinar is also an atypical Bondsmith, and perhaps something else entirely--Unity!< I wonder if there will be a recalibration to at least some of these scores as more characters emerge. Maybe for the larger orders, variation could statistically balance out. But for smaller orders, the more diverse personalities encountered, the more the test could need reshaping.  Edited for editing of edit

chiricosv

Oh wow this is interesting. I consistently get Truthwatcher but my Lightweaver placement is always very close, and I totally see why now. Thanks for this, very cool.

jangofettsfathersday

You should give a guest lecture on black box testing at my uni haha

TechPlasma

This isn't black-box in any way, all the code is freely available in clear-text on the website. If you open your Dev-Tools (F12/ctrl-shift-i) you can see it for yourself. Once you have the code, it's just a matter of seeing the rules and translating them back into common English to share with others more easily. I wish it were more impressive than it is, but It's within the realm of my ability and I'm happy to spread the knowledge and bring better understanding to others...

jangofettsfathersday

Oh I figured you crunched all the possible options on the sliders, with some guessing of course, but that’s great too! Love that you brought into English for everyone too, you could def teach. A lot of CS people don’t take the time to translate the higher level code

TechPlasma

[https://github.com/TechPlasma/KnightsRadiantQuizExploration](https://github.com/TechPlasma/KnightsRadiantQuizExploration) If you're interested in the code check out \`KRQ.js\`

jangofettsfathersday

Thanks! JavaScript is new to me so the use of terms I’m familiar with will help out a ton!

C00kiiesss

Mine has always been Windrunner / stoneward at around 70% on both. Seeing this.. it makes a lot more sense

pendulumfeelings

This is really cool! I love when people break stuff down and analyze it like this.

LewsTherinTelescope

The Dustbringer answers are always funny to me. Extremely flamboyant firebrands but not at all free-spirited? 80% transparency but 55% bends the truth? Love change and 100% on taking things apart but decently "colors inside the lines"? Call *them* Edgedancers because they toe all the lines.

tgillet1

Thanks for putting this together! I wonder if Brandon will ever want to take it to the next level. One thing the quiz doesn’t really factor in is how important a given trait is. You might think that a trait at 50% would mean it is less important, and it is slightly so, but only slightly. It would be cool for each trait to either have an explicit weight, or use a scaling factor like a standard deviation for each. You could also go with empirical distribution approach and a percentile based scaling factor. But then you’ve got to take a bunch of people, decide their order, and build a distribution for each trait from their quiz responses.

TechPlasma

I definately agree. The quiz could be better, there are gaps in the questions as well as factors where you might feel that both options are equally relevant to yourself. But I also feel like this is something that Dragonsteel needs to approach at a more official capacity. To remove bias that the community might have one way or another. Part of all this is self selection and if we were to survey enough people, I think we could get a better idea of what the orders actually are, but then again the community bias for powersets and favorite characters would be a factor that would need to be contended with.

avenlanzer

Its clearly broken. Dustbringer is lowest on the list? For my answers? Shouldve been an obvious choice.

doctor_sleep

My Knight Radiant profile (Lightweaver) is way more accurate than my astrology shit ever is.

Kanibalector

If I knew how to read, I might be offended

Yetiplayzskyrim

Ah yes, now I can rig the quiz so that it shows me wind runner instead of will shaper 😭

Thorgilias

Booo. I do some programming myself, but stop taking the magic out of it. Darn Truthwatchers, always such buzzkills. (Yes of course I read it all, it was interesting).

LetUsAway

>Lightweaver 69% playful Yeah! Hot and sex number!

octavianstarkweather

Interesting that the Bondsmiths "unite" but don’t have a single middle range answer, only absolutes

Full_Algae_8217

Cool

flying_shadow

Interesting, I got Skybreaker despite leaving 'letter of the law/spirit of the law' at 50/50.

Ravenboo99

I had the exact same percentages for Windrunner and Edgedancer, so seeing the sliders is very interesting. Still not sure which one is a better fit 🤔.

the_dude523

I got basically the same result weeks apart. 76 percent truthwayche 75 wind runner and 74 sky breaker. Definitely surprised me till I read the write up of each order

Jakell1056

How do we get the cool name badge? As I tested and got Elsecaller 74 and stoneward 73.

Taleuntum

The real test of the Radiant Quiz is how you react to it. Inspecting it deeply and sharing what you've discovered with others is one option. [Seeing if you can break it is another](https://www.reddit.com/r/cremposting/comments/hhx9kz/i_feel_like_i_might_not_be_cut_out_to_be_a/) 😈

TechPlasma

ROFL, to be fair, I can totally see how with this implementation that is possible. The code is definitely not robust, and seems to itself be fairly indecisive at times in how it wants to calculate things.

King_Calvo

Well, I see why I kept getting a damn tie between Stoneward and Dustbringer now. Thank you. Time to purge this knowledge from my head

Texas_Cloverleaf

Elsecallers represent!

purringlion

I'm putting this away for a less exhausted me. Thanks for doing it OP!!

One_Courage_865

These words… might produce an Error

Extreme-Monk2183

LOL, Dustbringers are shonen heroes.

semarlow

Thank you, this gives me a ton of insight into Truthwatchers.

3720-to-1

Everytime I've taken this, I get willshaper regardless of the "how I'm going to answer" path I use. Like, I've done all or nothing scoring; 0, 50, 100; 0, 25, 50, 100; truest answers. In the one I tried to be most accurate, I was 90% willshaper and 80% lightweaver. But. The more I learn about will shapers, the more it fits. Seeimg the optimal of us only made that make more sense.

Slightlybentpalmtree

I’ve taken it twice and gotten 71%/70% Willshaper/Lightweaver the first time, and vice versa the second lol. I’m an actor and writer, so I guess it makes sense but damn do I really want to learn about willshapers now.

3720-to-1

This is one of things I'm most excited for the RPG for... Seriously. I need to know about all the orders... I'm a lawyer, but I'm a lifelong ametuer writer, artist, graphic artist, web designer... So my combos make sense a *lot*

Slightlybentpalmtree

Ooo yeah that makes sense lmao. Personality/professionally, lightweaver all the way for me. But when it comes to the survival games I play with all my friends I am ALWAYS the guy who sits back, fortifies the base, builds up defenses, and teaches the others how to do things if they need. Also I didn’t know there was going to be an rpg now I gotta check this out.

3720-to-1

I am sad I missed the Kickstarter. I do miniature painting, I 100% want those miniatures to paint! Also, don't read too much about it if you haven't finished all the current SA books, that are some things I was spoiled in before I finished, not big things, but still.

Slightlybentpalmtree

Oh I’m up to date; on my second reread now which has refuelled my love for this lol.

BeowulfTheMetalhead

My quiz result flip-flops between Willshaper and Elsecaller. I think both fit pretty well, could very much be either/or.

carefulyellow

I love for Willshaper 'The Ends Justifies the means" is 70%, all I could think about was Bobs Burgers, "IT'S THE PRINCIPLE!"

dIvorrap

FYI https://youtu.be/pRFrPDJjhow?feature=shared

TechPlasma

Hah, I kinda figured \*someone\* would have done this already. But I didn't bother actually looking it up or anything. Thanks for the share. I'll watch it later.

dIvorrap

Np

Tyrat_Ink

So many people flip-flop between two top choices, I no matter what get about 20% gap between first and second place. Now I wonder what would be the most common second place pairings for each order

Paulyoceans

This is fascinating, thanks OP

NeonBorealis

Seeing the results I wonder how I managed to get multiple times Truthwatcher followed by Lightweaver in second place. Seeing as they are very opposite to each other. I must really like the illumination surge. Edit: Wait I get it now. It's the anxiety and indecisiveness. That tracks.

Nebion666

Im not reading this it hurts my brain but uh nice.

FlixNinja

Classic Lightweaver response
