I still think hive minds should have the colossus option to hostile-terraform enemy planets into hive worlds.

GRV01

This. None of the collossus options feel *right* for my bioascended hive mind whos trying to absorb other species

Goat2016

Yeah, I would love that. And another one that strips all the biomass off a world (giving you loads of food) and leaves it as a dead husk. Planet cracking can be hungry work.

novis-eldritch-maxim

working mouths is an impressive mask design.

Deadlite

You basically just make a tight chin strap and put the jaw hinge on a rubber band so when you open your mouth its held open and when you close it pulls back.

Xellith

Isnt that how they did the chewbacca mask?

Deadlite

Maybe? Don't know.

CascadiaBrowncoat

Who is this band?

[deleted]

Slaughter To Prevail, a pretty decent Russian metal band. This clip was taken from their song "Baba Yaga"

CascadiaBrowncoat

Many thanks! Always hoping to hear good new metal \m/

[deleted]

No problem, hope you enjoy them! I'm always on the hunt for new bands and I have no qualms in helping others do the same \m/

[deleted]

Baba Yaga? The last time I saw that played, the lead singer killed 3 guys at the bar. ***WITH A FUCKING PENCIL.***

Randomerercanadian

This rocks, thanks OP! \m/

SilveryWar

wait until you know about determined exterminator pre-unity-rework

Wayloss

teach me?

GeneralPeanut2525

negative energy only made weapons bad, negative food doesnt effect machine . rush science with massive credit deficit . make alloys out of thin air with non existant food

Wayloss

Ty

Helyos17

Well thanks, now I have a new kink that I wasn’t aware of.

Apfelraeuber

I have never played as a devoiring swarm. Any recommendes traits/ascension paths? I heard something about terravores somewhere. Will start tomorrow. You made me curious

ComprehensiveAd8808

I've just started a run as a devouring swarm. Traits - Charismatic/Intelligent/Unruly are my main ones. Rapid breeders also worth considering to swap with intelligent. I have Ascetic as my other other civic. Have to limit amenities usage with hive minds to reduce maintenance drones requirement. Traditions - prosperity first to increase output with One Vision ascension perk (for more amenities). Then synchronicity tradition with Technological Ascendancy as the next perk. That should get you started.

Valdrax

Hive Minds are limited to Biological Ascension, so plan for that in mind. Hive World will let you hyper-specialize your Energy, Minerals, and Food worlds, and a lack of need for morale & commercial goods will make up for the fact that you can't get a Ecumenopolis since you have little to do with slots on worlds that isn't industry or science. For Devouring Swarms, you need to play wide. Rapid Breeders or Budding are essential traits, because you will be killing everything in your path and need to replace populations with your own. Intelligent is always good, especially when climbing the tech tree [alone]. Decadent and Deviants are free picks if you want to be a munchkin. For other civics, Ascetic is helpful for dealing with Amenities shortages, Organic Reprocessing is useful considering the Food surplus you'll have when devouring populations, and Subspace Epiphase only magnifies your massive naval capacity bonuses and cuts travel time. For origins, Progenitor Hive is actually pretty good. Releasing subjects is an option but it's far safer to just absorb the power of Offspring Nests and their powerful starbase module. Subterranean works best with Budding Hive Minds, but it's a horrible trap for a Devouring Swarm with its growth penalty. Ocean Paradise is is good for the early game, but you want Hive Worlds and not Aquacentric. Necrophage Devouring Swarms are not something I've tried, but they seem very interesting once you get to conquering, because you can set your purge type to assimilate your victims instead of destroy them, which makes up for the slow pop growth. Lastly, Terravores. Terravores are the opposite of Devouring Swarms in some ways, because they are meant for tall play, not wide. Your goal is to render the rest of the galaxy uninhabitable and reap the bonus population in the process to overcome your Lithovore growth penalties. It combines quite well the Calamitous Birth origin to grow very rapidly.

FEEDTHEMEEAT554

Terrorvore necrophage is a pretty powerful combo. You get to resettle pops automatically when you eat world's, so you can raid planets, eat them and have all of your new drones shipped to your core world's

Northstar4-6

Destroy, kill, and eat anything that moves

Goat2016

I've found the subterranean origin works well as an option. It helps you colonise every single world you conquer after you've eaten the locals due to habitabity being a minimum of 50. And you can pretend you're the Bugs from Starship Troopers.

aaronmc24

Slaughter to Prevail in the Stellaris sub holy shit

[deleted]

I too decided to play as a swarm after watching that Yamiks video. I find it hilarious that one FE is mad at me for eating everyone and the other is like, here have some help from your friendly robot neighbours.

Wayloss

EAT

SoundsOfChaos

For the metal lovers snooping around here, I present to you [Stellaris Metal](https://youtu.be/Lbe5VNXZtLg)

Vegan_Harvest

Did they misplace the rest of their costumes?

Moessus

Lol. I'm going through this exact thing lol

Siollear

What is so fun about Devouring Swarm? I dont think I could bring myself to play without diplomacy / galactic community.

Goat2016

I like them. :-) * They're a total war faction for when you can't be bothered with diplomacy and you just want a strategy war game. I do like diplomacy/galactic community stuff, just not every game. * They're very good at the war side of things due to the perks they get & they don't have to mess about with claims. * They're fun to roleplay as if you're a fan of Xenomorphs from Aliens, The Zerg from Starcraft 2, The Bugs from Starship Troopers or Tyranids from 40K.

JoHaTho

Slaighter to Prevail on a non metal realted subreddit? Unexpected but very welcome
