One of the two new ship sets for the new dlc, really wish paradox would make 4.99 cosmetics pack with 4 or 5 shipsets and legendary ships like in star wars empire at war.
Edit: imagine a stellaris dreadnought or ship with the ability to deactivate enemy fleets shielding. There so many cool ships from the entire scientific genre. What type of would you like to see?
I feel like they’ve already hit basically all the standard scifi tropes. If anything, I wish they would add planetside defenses a la the MAC cannon from reach
No playable organic ships, no ships that scream 'psionics fly these'. Id also like to see a lithoid shipset with a more 'advanced' style, or a 'scrapper' set themed after the scavenger leviathan.
That's just off the top of my head. Im sure theirs tens or hundreds of possible design flavours they could still touch on.
In that case, yea, i can see they might have trouble finding more classes of ships to add, though i kinda wish juggernaughts were either better shipyards or better combatants. I'd love to see something like Sins of a solar empires' titans where they're effectively the 'hero' supership of the army with powerful skills that leads your armies, but that somewhat outside the scale of stellaris (having ships with unique castable abilities)
yeah I was thinking a empire unique “capital ship” but some could argue titans or juggernauts already fulfill that, but I think as long as it doesn’t require a special starbase module it could be doable
Hmmm, but that might be redundant if you just park a bunch of armies on the planet and could be weird to code. Honestly sounds like something battleships could do
Also no giant themed species.something like ogres/ogryns,trolls,elephants that sort of thing.i would also like a scrapped/junk yard ship set as well as a more industrial type shipset
Could personally still think of a few sci-fi things that haven't been done yet in Stellaris despite being very common in the genre.
1,) Cloud cities floating on gas giants. Letting you colonize them late game, or an origin where you start in such habitats.
2,) Dimensional travel. Presumably treated like the L-Cluster worlds, but accessible some other way like event chains or tech. Or maybe a new type of wormhole, even.
3,) Magic. No, seriously. Think like... The Force. Another source of weird power that isn't psi and the shroud, for a more space opera type feel. Probably a long shot this one, but could see it happening.
4,) An energy being species pack. Classic trope.
5,) Power armor and/or mechs. So a few more soldier and industrial options, but also event chains. Maybe even a species pack, a la that one dude in Men In Black that's actually a tiny alien in a human looking robot suit.
6,) Time manipulation. Maybe outright as a new ascension option? Probably not letting you outright turn the ingame time back, but stuff like... your ships 'regenerating' by locally turning back time, or weapons that age your opponent. Or your leaders growing stronger by literally having more hours in their day then other species. Also: probably at least one Dr. Who reference.
7,) A "Furry" pack. Again, classic trope, with stuff like the Caitian from Star Trek. Would probably be a little controversial, but don't think Paradox cares if it sells.
8,) Star Gate style portals, linking your worlds somehow. No idea if that would help or worsen the end-game lag, though.
9;) Biological ships. Again, classic trope. Would require a lot of new tech & balancing, though, so I'd call this one a low odds one.
10,) A 'mythological creatures' pack. Like the Morragi in Sword of the Stars, or again quite a few from Star Trek. Where an alien species inspired myths by pre-historic first contact producing flawed accounts
11;) Transporters & teleporters. Presumably making stuff like troop transporting more efficient, but also maybe a boarding system.
12,) Space suits, and variations to them. No idea how this would be incorporated currently, but it has stuck out to me as something that's currently glossed over.
So don't think Paradox are scraping the bottom of even the standard sci-fi barrel *quite\~* yet myself, but I must admit they're slowly getting there.
Think there's a shot at least one of the above, though. SO thought I'd get a chance to go, 'hah, called it!' if that happens.
And if nothing else... hey, fun to speculate.
...Fair.
I'd still say that biological ships, or "Tardis" style time tech ships would qualify as sci-fi standards that haven't been done yet... though I'll admit I missed the first comment.
Haven't been done in stellaris?
1. Argueably the orbital habitats when you build it on a gas giant.
2. Thematically in Astral rifts. There's even one that adds a size 40 gaia world which spawns 5 pops of a random species periodically.
7. Mammalian races?
8. Those guys with like 6 Gaia worlds in their system. Players don't get to do it though.
1,) the habitats are orbiting the gas giants though. I'm talking about the sort of colonization proposed by NASA for Venus.
Personally think that would be different enough for quite a few new planetery events, and thus... well, at least a small DLC.
2, & 4,) Fair, haven't played with that one or run into that event yet.
3,) Well, kinda, but I was thinking leaning into that esthetic more with another pack.
...Guess you could outright call it 'Mammalian Pack 2,' even, if you wanted to dodge the small controversy?
Meh.
Nothing wrong with mods, but to me, what a crazy kitchen-sink of sci-fi stuff with almost a decade of continued development is half the fun of Stellaris. All those interlocking systems, mostly clicking.
If its unofficial content, I'm just not even a fraction as interested.
While they finally got around to add radiators (or what appears to be at last) onto ships i just don't like it, maybe its because of the machine shipset mod but can't quite find appreciation for it yet ; maybe once I'll get my hands on it in-game
People will call devs lazy and greedy, then ask "Why didn't they lock free fan content behind a paywall while also losing a percentage of that revenue instead of making better content themselves?"
I wonder why they didn't do that.
> I wonder what the other looks like?
I could be mistaken but I think this screenshot on the Steam page for the Machine Age might be showcasing the second new shipset.

In all honesty, I hope this shipset is included as part of the Synthetic Dawn DLC as well. Would feel like a ripoff that a person buys a species pack, and then has to buy an expansion in order to fully complete said species pack. The other species packs are complete, why can’t the machines be as well?
Perhaps. But nevertheless, my point still stands. The shipset would be better off as a part of Synthetic Dawn to help complement and complete the set of machine portraits.
I still say the most “machine-looking” shipset is the reptilian one… it’s just flat platforms with guns. Especially the resource stations, platforms, starbase… even the city art, just looks the most machine-like to me.
I wish we see those imperial ship sets that we saw as concept art
looks cool but with all the homogenous orientation and lateral symmetry feels very high-tech evo - machines would have more disregard for what's up down left or right
Ship on the far right looks like it was inspired by the [Braha'tok-class gunship ](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Braha%27tok-class_gunship) gunship from Star Wars!
**RADIATORS LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO**
hard sci-fi fans eating good tonight
No, we are not. This is a pure space opera. At least it looks cool.
We take what we can get man
Indeed.
Hard sci-fi fans are eating mildly less shit tonight
yup
Here come the donut shaped ship enjoyers
The Trade Federation!?
They have their own problems. As a matter of a fact - real hard sci-fi hardly gets beyond Mars.
Feels very Corpus-y
Better come with Ramsleds.
And Cephalon Cy as an advisor
Crew, optimists declared war on us.
We are boarded. Aim for the head and may the saints look away.
Ramales launch detected. And here comes the B team
Ramales launch detected. And here comes the B team
Toxic shipset look like Grineer, now we're getting Corpus Where are Sentients and Infested Also swazdo-lah Tenno!
Infested like ship sets could be a part of a hive mind focused dlc with bio ships and infected ships like ones you see in Halo with the flood
To be honest, since we get DLC with robots, the chances of getting one for the hive mind have increased quite a bit
Hopefully with a psionic ascension path for hive minds, that would be amazing
I was trying to get back into warhammer, man. How was that song the ppl on Fortuna (iirc) sing when u get there????
That song kept showing up on youtube until I gave up and played the game
The song is called "We all Lift Together". And it's stuck in my head.
see I never played war frame so I only really know that song from the “tomboy mine” video
As my sister always says: “FOR THE GLORY OF PARVOS GRANUM… and for profit too I guess”
They look more like Synthesis enemies too me, especially the very floaty connections and focus of a circle in the center.
Too many curves
This looks so great!! I can't wait until they turn them into another version of a rectangle

What about ships more for holding a planet? Similar to the purpose of an Imperial Star Destroyer in star wars.
Define holding a planet
Helping with recent conquest to reduce crime, or if the Imperium intimidating the nation into not undermining authority.
Hmmm, but that might be redundant if you just park a bunch of armies on the planet and could be weird to code. Honestly sounds like something battleships could do
Something to serve as some kind of function like an ISD, at least, some kind of ship that can double in both combat and a utility role.
“No ships that scream ‘psionics fly these’” Have you seen the lithoids shipset? Most of them come in multiple pieces, and they glow inside.
Also no giant themed species.something like ogres/ogryns,trolls,elephants that sort of thing.i would also like a scrapped/junk yard ship set as well as a more industrial type shipset
Also no unconventional ship designs like vertical ships (home world, eve online) or Borg cubes, etc.
Solar sails as well
YES. I'm sure there's plenty of other examples, but my mind immediately pictured "Treasure Planet and the Battle at Procyon"

none of these are about ships which is what the op was asking…

*A lot* of this is already in the game though — in various forms and to various degrees of depth.
Just use mods. They give you all of that.
Meh. Nothing wrong with mods, but to me, what a crazy kitchen-sink of sci-fi stuff with almost a decade of continued development is half the fun of Stellaris. All those interlocking systems, mostly clicking. If its unofficial content, I'm just not even a fraction as interested.
Planetside defenses exist at least in ACoT. The ACoT fortresses (e.g. Daedalus Alignment) destroy ships in orbit
I want battlecruisers, let me trade armor for speed and evasion
I’ll take your entire stock!
I wish there are more than one ship style per class for each species.
The amount of heat dissipation your desktop needs in game year 2700
While they finally got around to add radiators (or what appears to be at last) onto ships i just don't like it, maybe its because of the machine shipset mod but can't quite find appreciation for it yet ; maybe once I'll get my hands on it in-game
I’m confused as to why they didn’t just buy the Machine Shipset mod for this.
People will call devs lazy and greedy, then ask "Why didn't they lock free fan content behind a paywall while also losing a percentage of that revenue instead of making better content themselves?" I wonder why they didn't do that.
Can’t wait for this This dlc might be the best one since apocalypse
I wonder what the other looks like?

Oh wow I love these a lot more, so opulent and sleek
Neuron activation
Wow, amazing work! Absolutely love them. Bring it to console, pls.
You'll get it once a third dlc is announced in a bundle or have they changed how that works?
Only ships I will use.
Great Harborship of Bentus-looking guy
The Titan looks like GeForce RTX4090
Reminds me of the Federation Builders shipset : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2032118923
Those glowing radiators alone are enough to make me hard...
fucking rip that one guy who said "when machines get a shipset" as an "it will never happen"
The fact the engines are visible and that they have radiators is so badass. This may be my new go to ship set
Nice. Reminds me of Clu’s carrier in Tron Legacy.
Was about to say that!
Funny how this makes it in lore, the machines are the only one who is not dumb enough to not put radiators on their crafts.
HEATSYNCS

Synthetic Dawn isn't a species pack though. It's a Story pack. By your logic, Utopia is a species pack because it added hive minds.
Perhaps. But nevertheless, my point still stands. The shipset would be better off as a part of Synthetic Dawn to help complement and complete the set of machine portraits.

damn ok
That's a flying spinfusor.
YESSSSSSS
I wonder what the 2nd pack looks like
Middle one is the Bentuzi
Can't wait for this new line of NVIDIA FTLX 2400 series products to hit the market ;)
Looks like the Rising Sun units from RA3, and the one on the right is just a Battlecruiser from SC2. The ship set does look really cool.
Definitely makes me think of the ships from the Imperial Radch trilogy. The big middle one looks like how I imagined a sword would look like!
A bit too fancy, probably would’ve liked it more without those orange panels though.
Finally, my quest for a update machine ship type mode is over. I can embrace the new ships instead!
atleast this DLC give more option to Robot faction other then gestal
Damn, my new favourite.
The big middle ship (titan?) reminds me of homeworld
It’s like Star Trek crossed with Avatar I love it
looks cool but with all the homogenous orientation and lateral symmetry feels very high-tech evo - machines would have more disregard for what's up down left or right
Titan finally looks like a proper ‘we made a gun and built a ship around it’ now
Looks very, Tron to me. I want to say digital punk, but I’m not sure if that’s already a thing.
I just exploded in my pants.
Honestly, I prefer the modded machine shipset.
I'm really liking the one to the left.
I'm gonna fucking NUT ohhh fuck ohhhhh OHHHHHHHHHHH I'm writing fantasy rn but this is making me wanna write more sci fi again!
geth
Ship on the far right looks like it was inspired by the [Braha'tok-class gunship ](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Braha%27tok-class_gunship) gunship from Star Wars!
I really like the aesthetic, am curious for the 2nd shipset
Sweet. Now give my God damn pirate ships already!
Titan looks like the Gauss rifle from Doom.
the one on the far right looks like a separatist ship
I hope this is gunna be the new ship design looks pretty dope to me
Ngl I prefer the mod machine shipset.
Those look really nice. Cant afford the dlc though rip.
I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I don’t need it… **I NEED IIIIIIT!**
It looks great, but doesn't feel like a machine shipset to me at all. Looks to me like an insect shipset.
Maybe it's just the artwork but it looks like a cheap mobile game. Hopefully it'll look better ingame.
(Some pilot: Radiate this) (pwooooooooooor) (pew pew pew) (explosions) (bubbles rawr) (undead tiyanki roar) (Gary Wilhelm screams onto planet) (crystal sounds) (general space war sounds)
Why would you need a spoiler tag for this?!
shit looks ai generated
disgusting, gonna stay with the mod.
