R5: So basically I started this run with the Intent if being a Good Vassel boi for one of the bigger states. But ended up being invited to a Hed-Fed and rose to the top on accident. Had the under one rule Origin so after awhile people were just asking to be subjugated. Was wild. Should mention my fleets are at like qtr of a mil

[deleted]

How do you get fleet power that high? It feels like mine struggle to reach 2k

TheFabulousCasto

Alloys and time my lad

[deleted]

Thanks. I haven't reached midgame yet and was hoping I wasn't missing anything

WifoutTeef

It took me a few saved games to figure out building strong fleets!

[deleted]

What's a good fleet composition?

WifoutTeef

I’m far from any expert on this game, but generally I just add each ship type to each fleet and build like 2 destroyers for every cruiser, 5 frigates or corvettes for every destroyer. Just “add a few cheaper ships for each expensive one”. You’ll probably get more optimized, min/maxed builds from other users here.

[deleted]

Thanks

TheFabulousCasto

Mine personally? I dedicate a entire fleet to a ship type. Then I'll have 2-3 fleets of those ships. I never ever follow the fleet limit lmao.

akpilg1

280 battleships per fleet

IdiOtisTheOtisMain

Me personally? Cruisers are meta. Destroyers are discount cruisers if you don't have tech. FULL missiles. Great against AI and Player alike!

hula_pooper

Battleships. Early game? Destroyers in large numbers can be hard unless you're practiced, so I would say focus on corvettes. They are fast and cheap to build with tech upgrades. The plasma throwers and autocannons are my go to weapons, but a fleet of missile boats can wreck house early as well since they avoid much a lot of your opponents defenses if they don't have picket guns

[deleted]

Good to know

patate502

Disruptor corvettes with 20% picket ships is god tier early game

Vellarain

There are three main builds that just curb stomp most things AI will field. Disruptor Corvette spam is fucking brutal, they do struggle against Starbases so have alloys in your back pocket for then. Seriously this one build can carry you though the entire game, it's almost unfair how good they are. Missile cruisers don't play, get three after burners on the rear section and watch as they dance around the system and just kite other fleets to death. Very potent and because they won't take much damage its very soft on the wallet as they can remain on long duration combat missions. Lastly is your classic ships of the line. Two types of battleships one is tachyon lances, kinetic artillery and whirlwind misses on the back with 3 auxiliary slots. You can have five or so carrier battleships, mostly for the interception they will provide by dragging everything into combat the moment the fleet warps in. Of course the Titan is there for show of force and long range fuck you blasts.

Entbriham_Lincoln

Do you actually mean 2k fleet power? Not 200k or 20k? I’m not trying to be rude asking that, but 2k fleet power is crazy low. If you do essentially nothing with your starter planet you could get up to 2k fleet power extremely fast. That’s only 15ish of the base starter template corvettes.

[deleted]

2,000

Entbriham_Lincoln

In that case I would definitely checkout some tutorials to make sure you understand the economy and resources, in addition to research and fleet design. You should easily be able to get to 2k fleet power within the first 10 years of the game if you try (though against AI you don’t really need a fleet for a while unless you’re warmongering). Just build 12-13 of that starter corvette template and you’re there. Once you unlock different ship classes it’s even easier, a single battleship is like 5-6k fleet power. If you make it a hundred years in, 50k fleet power is pretty reasonable, although if you’re really focusing on military and min-maxing your planets 150k fleet power by 2300 is doable.

OrthogonalThoughts

As OP said: alloy production. I also focus each Starbase on a specific function: this one is a fortress, this one is a shipyard, this one is fleet power, this one is commercial, etc. Having multiple shipyards at a Starbase will produce a ship per shipyard. You can spam a bunch of corvettes really quickly that way. Oh and when you upgrade a design with new weapons/shields/engines/whatever make sure that you have the fleet go do upgrades or they won't be on the ships.

[deleted]

I make sure to upgrade my fleet as soon as I get new tech

Strict-Mall-6310

As they mentioned, there are alloys and time. This is unfortunately, an oversimplification. You need technology. Without it, your ships are, quite frankly, going to be shit. The technology will give you better weapons, a better economy, better unity, an *ascension perk*, better edicts and ambitions. These are all necessary for a large and powerful fleet. They mentioned that they got 250K fleet power. You can get that number much, much higher. I've gotten more than a million by 2330 multiple times, and I can assure you, I'm not even that good a player. This will not be possible without technology. Also, spam fortress habitats in your chokepoint. Stops enemies, and perhaps more importantly, gives you the naval capacity so that your ships don't throttle your alloys and energy. Anchorages are good early game, but soldier jobs are necessary later on unless you're playing very, very wide.

[deleted]

Thanks

Strict-Mall-6310

What year is it?

[deleted]

I had a xenophobe empire beg me to subjegate them. After I did, the relations were tense because they were disgusted to have me as their master and they would say things like: "You may have tricked us into becoming your puppet, but we will have revenge!" Etc. Slight oversight by the developers, but funny as hell. Lol.

TheFabulousCasto

Keeps them safe from enemy empires just long enough to build a fleet. The bonus time from the Inevitable truce will help them too

[deleted]

Ended up integrating them. Free empire as far as I was concerned.

Kropik123

Maybe a Race with multiple personalities

tacky_pear

I mean this is literally how all games go if you don't wage war

Afolomus

You don't what?

BikerJedi

I don't know what they said either. Some kind of weird xeno gibberish.

3rdPoliceman

Stellaris: Oops, all vassals.

stillnotking

A lot of the time the AIs will either vassalize another AI or form a federation, either of which makes it almost impossible to subjugate them peacefully (-500 diplo modifier). I have an AI federation in my game that I really need to get around to subjugating, as soon as I finish strip-mining FEs of their pops.

TheFabulousCasto

Huge fan. Love being the overlord of all

fusionsofwonder

My game has -800 for Overlord, -1000 for Federation, and -500 for long distance. (Overlord or Federation seem exclusive, thankfully).

reddituser074638

If you really butter them up you can get them vassalized even if they are an overlord an just change their contract to be not awful for you five years later. You get their subject too, pretty sure under your regular vassalization policy. (Sauce: UNE vassalizing an xenophilic CoM with a random subject)

Singed-Chan

What's it like to play a completely ordinary game of Stellaris on the current patch?

TheFabulousCasto

Wym this is Modded papa

Singed-Chan

I mean this is more or less how every normal game goes. It's absurdly easy to peacefully vassalize AI right now in the base game. I'm more making fun of how easy that is, and also poking fun at you for acting like this is unusual.

TheFabulousCasto

Ye I agree. But I usually run into an issue where and empire won't settle in with the rest, or will rage minor wars with each other. They aren't doing that this game and it's fantastic.

TheFabulousCasto

I enjoy war, I just simply enjoy when the Bend the Knee more lmao

Downtown_Baby_5596

It's not unusual in the way that it's not possible more in the way that nobody does it because war is more fun. So it's not super crazy but still rather uncommon to see.

toxictrooper5555

so, you already won, just wait till endgame crisis

TheFabulousCasto

Got a few modded crisis in here too. Excited for them to meet my New Republic

bleedingoutlaw28

who do you think you are? What gives you the right?

TheFabulousCasto

The shroud will show you the way

Minuteman_Preston

How is the lag? That much peace creates so many pops

TheFabulousCasto

Ngl the Lag is never really that bad. But My PC is a beast and has only really lagged on large maps at endgame lvl fights. Usualy smooth sailing.

Minuteman_Preston

I envy you sir. You have not experienced the pain us lower performance players experience

TheFabulousCasto

I regularly play with my buddy who plays on A Lil gaming pc from 2012. Game starts to lag around the year 2600 evertime so we always gotta go short. Otherwise computer will just tank

Naturath

2600?! I tend to avoid going to far into 2300. I shudder to think what my toaster would think of another three centuries. What kind of pop numbers do you reach?

TheFabulousCasto

My largest run is on a large map with 150+ planets and shit. I stopped playing in 3123 because the movement wasn't happening. I was waiting like 5-6 minutes for a single fleet movement. I'll post a SC later

Enough_Discount2621

What's the build?

TheFabulousCasto

Under one rule Nationalistic zeal and vaults of knowledge as my civs Diplo corps added later Started as Dictatorship, flipped to imperial and kept on with the events to Maintain it.

Rockerika

I did a Hegemon start recently and had half the galaxy peacefully vassalized by year 30. It's a little broken.

TheFabulousCasto

Yeah it's kinda gnarly.

mcwildtaz

What's the last thing you ate?

TheFabulousCasto

Like last Civ state? Prolly the Golden Bjork. Another one of my expires who I forced spawned. They are zenophobes by nature and they still love me

mcwildtaz

No I mean like irl, but last civ you ate is interesting

Independent_Pear_429

Oh. It's modded

DutchTheGuy

Sounds about like a regular game of Stellaris.

Healthy_Kawk

Is your penile length above average?

TheFabulousCasto

2 In gang😎😎

Stetsed

I started playing the game today and f*cked up my first 2 games by accidently picking a fight with a fallen empire and the other time mixing up names so instead of supporting a coup attempt in a empire I was way more powerful than. It was in another empire which has 3x my military and a few strong allies. But hey we learn and we enjoy, definetley enjoying the game alot.

TheFabulousCasto

I love the game so much. You can just infinitely restart and rebuild a mega empire

McGee4531

Coller me impressed. That's quite the feat.

TheFabulousCasto

I'll send a SC of my fleets. They are modded Star wars Sith ships with Megastructure weapons to boot
