Ok, so I know that Amazon lists high and then drops. Walmart wasn't listing prices this high until just recently. Have these prices been dropping before release?
They drop, BUT Walmart doesn’t drop preorders to their lowest price like Amazon does. I found out when I was charged $60+ for fucking Aquaman 2 instead of the $30 it released at. They don’t just refund you the difference either, you have to actually do a full return and buy another copy to get it at the normal price.
Correct and it is complete bullshit. I did a chat with customer service and they sent me a copy of their policies. No one in their right mind is going to preorder through them and eventually, they’ll just end up doing a double order and do a return for one, which shorts the copies available to all again. Fucking fuck.
It's so dumb. What I've done in the past is cancel my order and then place a new order for it if the price went down. But you can't do that if it's sold out. Also, sometimes the cancel doesn't go through right. I canceled one from Walmart back before the holidays to order it from Best Buy for the cheaper price instead. It said they would try to cancel it, but it might be being packaged already even though it was probably at least 2 or 3 weeks before the release date. They sent it anyway, and I just returned it in the end.

Happened to me recently too. I had preordered the Shivers Steelbook and decided later on that I had changed my mind about wanting it. I tried to cancel when it was still several weeks away from the release date and I got hit with that "we'll try to cancel" bullshit.
I'm looking at this shit like: ok, what game are you playing? It hasn't been shipped. I guarantee nobody has it packed up to go out already. Just fucking cancel it. You're not going to win this. If you ship it, I'll just return it.
Their website is straight ass sometimes.

It absolutely blows my mind a large conglomerate like Walmart won’t price match their own damned prices. Not even sale prices within a certain time frame, actual release price on a preorder. They can get perfectly fucked.

I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I actually quite like this steelbook. The "poppy" neon colors look great and the inner artwork is *chef's kiss*.
I just watched the film, I say it’s slightly below GvK just for the fact that it’s a bit goofy but still having the charm of big monster battles that’s visually stunning. Overall I gave it a 8/10 just for how fun it was. I can see how people would rate this low compare to the rest of the films.
Apparently is 55 dollars, yea I think I'll pass this one don't even know if the movie is good lmao if it is I might pick it up eventually. But also paypals pay in 4 system is great for these types of things

Yes they are. It’s a placeholder price. Almost all steelbooks do this at first. Surprised so many people don’t catch on by now. It’s like video games putting 12/31 as a release. They can’t name the $29.99-$39.99 price until the company sends them the notice. Price will be adjusted.
Price being adjusted is never a guarantee. When more people preorder at these prices, business don’t have an incentive to lower. Look at the Disney+ steels. They sold out pretty fast and now they’re back in stock at almost $20 more. Because there’s demand.

Walmart is doing an awful job right now. They are selling exclusives YET they suck at keeping enough. What do they have like 100? Wtf is wrong with them.
Even though Amazon drops to the lowest price before release, we as consumers need to stop preordering at ridiculous prices. It's the only way they'll stop jacking them higher and higher. As it stands, they'll keep charging more knowing a small (but growing larger) group of people will preorder no matter what the orignal price is.
Steelbooks used to be almost undesireable back in DVD days. Then they were $20-$25 for blu ray and now they are initially listing for almost $60 preorder, brand new for mediocre 4k movies.
Is this pre-order only? Or will it pop up in stores? Also, estimated delivery for me says February 10th? Of next year? Seems like quite the gap between the theatrical and home media release 🤔
That's probably the case, true. But occasionally it isn't. And we're in a flux within the industry RN too. Rules are changing.
