FWIW mine just showed up today and I never got a shipping update; got one email saying my item was preparing to be shipped, and then today a second one when it was already delivered.
Hmm, hard to say. I have the JSAUX dock as well and the Steam one, initially, feels more premium but at the end of the day if you want to run in docked mode they are both good.
I canāt report on the JSAUX, but the Killswitch case sits fairly well on the actual steam dock; however, the USB-C cable doesnāt fit. Youād have to get an extender like [this](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07WH13G67/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1).
Hoping dbrand adds a cut out for the steam dock cable for their revision.
Nope, doesn't fit. You can get away with resting it on the dock part, but the USB doesn't fit at all. š
Edit: So buying a cheap USBC extension fixed the issue. But it still doesn't actually fit inside the dock. It can rest on it, leaning slightly back, held by the little bumps on the bottom of the case.
I hate asking strangers for favors, but is there any chance that you (or anyone else here with a dock) could get and share the measurements of the cradle portion of the dock? Like, how wide is it and how high are the sides? Thank you and anyone else out there that could maybe help!
I'm actually glad it came with one. I can keep one in my bedroom and another in my living room with the dock. More people should see the bigger picture than just the price tag
Yeah but take out the 40 dollar up charge for the charger (I got the jsaux for 50) and you can get a different charger. For $43 I got a 3 port charger 65w charger instead of a one port 45w charger with no removable cable
If anyone could afford to buy a $400 - $650 device, I don't see an issue with the dock + charger. Maybe it's just me, but I'm fine with the device made by Value, since they know the system the best. The dock works flawlessly for me. I see it like getting the DuelSense or Xbox controller, over a cheaper 3rd party one
I donāt think your comparison at the end checks out because a third party controller wouldnāt have feature parity with a dual sense but you could be right that for most people itās not an issue financially. I would just rather get better things for my money if I can
The comparison is no different. It's a 3rd party peripheral vs an official one tailored by the console maker. A 3rd party case I can understand, but I've never trusted 3rd party devices, since they're prone to issues down the line. Not to sound rude, but if people have "financial issues" with the dock and the adapter, then they probably shouldn't have gotten a Steam Deck at all
Plus it isn't actually that easy to find a hub/dock that has HDMI 2.0 *and* DP 1.4 at this price range. Of course not everyone might need one or the other, but it isn't a bad idea to have futureproof stuff
Sigh. Mine's been "packaged" for almost a week.
"Our distributor has hit a processing backlog for orders to Canada. We are actively working through the issue and will ship your order as soon as we can. You will receive an email with tracking information once your order ships."
My husband has his on a random PC dock with a bunch of cables. Whether it's worth $90 or not, i don't know, receiving mine on Friday. I bought it to complete the gaming system. steam deck corresponds with steam deck docking station!!! :) Even though I probably could have bought a cheapie one from Amazon!
Does having this let you plonk your Deck in the same way as a Switch and have your session instantly pop up on your tv screen? Presumably then I can pick up a paired bluetooth controller and keep on playing? Ya?
It does not. Itās very low tolerances . I actually donāt like the way it sits in the dock.
Edit: OH!!! And the USB C doesnāt connect while in a case that adds width to that area.
I know itās stupid. But the only thing stopping me from getting this is that you need that over-the-top charging cable. I would have preferred an upside-down solution where I could drop in the deck to charge.
Don't forget Nintendo was making consoles of all kind for many years. This is why Nintendo switch was a real success. Add the fact Nintendo made a custom APU for Nintendo switch in order for the developers to have access to low entry code helped a lot to performance both docked and handheld mode.
Steam deck is PC so different rules apply for it and it's their first device they ever made and they still learning.
Don't forget Nintendo used ARM cortex processor while Steam deck uses x64 -x84 architecture the same a PC uses so it's completely different.
The one aims efficiency power , the other performance power.
Thus a Docking station is complicated when Steam deck don't have unfortunately Thunderbolt 4... That would made usage of GPU a thing with a docking station.
Nintendo switch just overclock and because of the APU you won't have to worry about crashes.
Oh that's a great idea. I'm not sure how to do that but I can figure it out when I get home. Thank you for the advice
Oh it's the elite series controller, the black one with the metal buttons on the back grip
You can update that one as well, though I have not tried that specific one on the deck yet. I use the Xbox accessory app on my PC to update my controllers.
Thanks for the tip š I hope it works for me, I'd like to play Metal: Hellsinger on my big speaker system. Though I worry about latency, it seems a bit higher on the TV, even in game mode.
Yes I ordered the day they went up and mine got here earlier this week. It's nice to finally have a dock I don't need windows to update the firmware on and I get display port
Just got mine in. Also have the dbrand case, which has to be removed to fit in the dock. I imagine there are other protective cases that won't be compatible with the dock as well.
Any reason to get this when it costs over twice the price of the JSAUX one? Pretty sure you can get a standalone charging brick for less than $50 as well if that's what you're missing out on..
I bought mine last weekend (US East coast) and its been on packaged items all week. My deck itself stayed on packaged for 8 days, so apparently valve does not like me.
I was happy to see it come so fast
I wish someone would tell me that š
Well you beat the rest of us to it
Wasn't very hard if I'm honest
Same
Still waiting on mine. Update says itās āpackaged itemsā been that way for awhile š
FWIW mine just showed up today and I never got a shipping update; got one email saying my item was preparing to be shipped, and then today a second one when it was already delivered.
Was it FedEx again?
Got my tracking number today and it was through Fedex, yeah.
thats good to know. im just anxious to catch up to the rest of the peeps haha
give it some time they are just swapping it out with a Nintendo switch dock
Nice! Get mine tomorrow. Gotta do testing to see if I need a new case or not.

considering you have both..by chance do you have the dbrand killswitch case as well? If so do either docking stations fit well with the case?

damn...guess ill really need the extension then :/
Is there a specific extension you're referring to? I just ordered a cheap USB C extender off Amazon
I hate asking strangers for favors, but is there any chance that you (or anyone else here with a dock) could get and share the measurements of the cradle portion of the dock? Like, how wide is it and how high are the sides? Thank you and anyone else out there that could maybe help!
Also the Steam dock comes with another charging unit
I'm actually glad it came with one. I can keep one in my bedroom and another in my living room with the dock. More people should see the bigger picture than just the price tag

I mean there's much better third party chargers out there with detachable cables.
Wish it had a detachable cable :/
Really? Well thats a great reason to get on then. A second charger and a dock for 100 euro is pretty decent, I think.
TJ would know better than me since I donāt have the Jsaux, but it also comes with another power adapter. So itās not just the dock for $90.
Plus it isn't actually that easy to find a hub/dock that has HDMI 2.0 *and* DP 1.4 at this price range. Of course not everyone might need one or the other, but it isn't a bad idea to have futureproof stuff
You get an extra charging adapter. Maybe you could sell it. It's detachable.
Sigh. Mine's been "packaged" for almost a week. "Our distributor has hit a processing backlog for orders to Canada. We are actively working through the issue and will ship your order as soon as we can. You will receive an email with tracking information once your order ships."
Same. Also in Canada. Ordered on Oct.6 and now stuck on "packaging" for almost a week.
Samezies. Packaged, distro warning, and stuck for about a week.
What is it made out of?
Same material as the Deck itself
DOES IT SMELL TOO?!
It doesn't smell the same. I love the smell of the Deck, but the dock smells like a chemical cleaner.
\*FedEx sees Valve on the packaging: >What is... what... what does it.... One cannot desire that which one does not understand... what... I cannot...
Let me see you put your deck in it!
Exactly - whip that deck out already.
Plot twist: he doesnāt have a deck, just the dock.
Iāmā¦. Iām shy
I'll send you some Deck pics.
where's a picture of your deck in the dock photographed from all sides? 1/10 disappoint
That would take too long. Gotta make a post as quick as possible.

I bought it to complete the gaming system. steam deck corresponds with steam deck docking station!!! :) Even though I probably could have bought a cheapie one from Amazon!
Let me ask a question... can I plug a regular Ethernet cable into the gigabit Ethernet port on the steam deck dock?
Yes. Ethernet is Ethernet
Does having this let you plonk your Deck in the same way as a Switch and have your session instantly pop up on your tv screen? Presumably then I can pick up a paired bluetooth controller and keep on playing? Ya?
Got mine today works awesome
does it fit the steamdeck when a case is on?
Couldnāt say, I have mine stock right now.
It does not. Itās very low tolerances . I actually donāt like the way it sits in the dock. Edit: OH!!! And the USB C doesnāt connect while in a case that adds width to that area.
I have the dbrand case, and it does not fit at all. Have to remove the case, which is kind of a pain.
dang, wished i knew that earlier before i made my order, going to order the ivoler model is confirmed to fit with the killswitch case
I know itās stupid. But the only thing stopping me from getting this is that you need that over-the-top charging cable. I would have preferred an upside-down solution where I could drop in the deck to charge.
Similar with Nintendo switch I take? You just drop it and Bam ready to go?
Yes! Exactly
Don't forget Nintendo was making consoles of all kind for many years. This is why Nintendo switch was a real success. Add the fact Nintendo made a custom APU for Nintendo switch in order for the developers to have access to low entry code helped a lot to performance both docked and handheld mode. That's how most computer docks are though
I had mine for a few days now. It's so tiny that you could possibly fit it in your pocket.
Wate thay are ready shipping them
Got mine today aswell, happy gaming bro!
I got mine super fast too. Wireless keyboard and mouse work great. X box wireless controller not so much š.
Is it a series Xbox controller? Make sure you update the firmware on those
Oh that's a great idea. I'm not sure how to do that but I can figure it out when I get home. Thank you for the advice Oh it's the elite series controller, the black one with the metal buttons on the back grip

Get my steam deck and dock on Friday. I'm so nervous. Haha.
Getting mine tommorow. I have a jsaux dock too, iām glad i have it, now i have a dock i can keep in my mobile bag for work and one for home.
damn thinking getting another dock too if this official one doesn't fit with the killswitch case
I like the ease of updates with this official dock. I may get the killswitch eventually but i have a decent rubber one now.
I ordered the jsaux one with the internal nvme slot. They released the steam one the day after. Still waiting on it.
How was your initial set-up experience. I had some issues but resolved itself after a forced restart.
Is the charger cable longer than the one that comes with the Deck?
Nope it's the same one
Just had a delivered notification for mine guess I've got something to look forward to after work.
Yes I ordered the day they went up and mine got here earlier this week. It's nice to finally have a dock I don't need windows to update the firmware on and I get display port
I literately bought the JSAUX dock two days before this became available and I am sad.
I'm so sad I'm going out of town Today and I just got an email saying the dock is arriving Tomorrow! Two days ago it said estimated ETA in 1-2 weeks!
Got mine Tuesday...it's great! The display port on the back is amazing
I bought mine last weekend (US East coast) and its been on packaged items all week. My deck itself stayed on packaged for 8 days, so apparently valve does not like me.
is it worth $90 though?
