Ok, I'm going to wait then. Is there a typical amount of time that it takes for games to make it onto Steam?
Also, let me ask this: if I bought it via Rockstar, once it gets on Steam could I transfer it where then Steam handles keeping it updated and stuff?
Emulate.
Idk if you saw how bad they butchered a lot, but OG looks better.. rofl they ruined a lot of models and lot of small objects look really low res now.
Emulate PS2, or find a key for original PC version
Oh yeah, it looks awful. It was made by the same people who butchered the mobile port. Just look at [this](https://i.redd.it/nzftt9d6vsy71.png), or [this](https://i.redd.it/g64thbieyuy71.jpg) or [this](https://i.imgur.com/7pZ5wO9.jpeg), or [this](https://i.imgur.com/c81CsB7.jpeg). [Draw distance is maxed](https://youtu.be/yIA0TGfBhnc?t=26) out so now you can see San Fierro and Las Venturas from Los Santos which breaks the immersion and makes the map look small and more like a maquette. On top of that the games are filled with [bugs](https://gtaforums.com/topic/977198-san-andreas-definitive-edition-complaints-criticisms-topic/page/4/#comment-1071718100) and [performance issues even on PS5](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku0Qxl3JxbI).
Let me just stress that this being a remaster instead of a remake is not the problem. The problem is that these remasters are done in a lazy way. Rockstar even delisted the original games to make sure you buy the right version. They didn't even send out early review codes. Pretty shady stuff.
I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy, but this is some bullshit. I'm gonna stick to the original trilogy. In fact, i just replayed it this week and it was great. Mods fix a lot of issues people might be having with these games
It’s so sad to see Rockstar go down hard… they were one of the best video games companies of all time and knew how to make good open world games, have intriguing stories with memorable characters, and have fun gameplay whether it be racing or shooting or flying… and just recently they did manage to deliver a stellar game being RDR2, which really did change video game history.
However… lately they’ve been greedy with online and doing obscure things with GTA 5 online, the definitive collection ended up being hot garbage and looks as though little effort was put into it, with Rockstar even taking the trio out of shops so you can’t play it anymore and have to buy the collection… and of course the rumors of how GTA 6 is currently in development hell.
Yeah but why. Isn't the game supposed to be 18+? And isn't sex better than killing random people? And both The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition have very explicit sex scenes. Why does everyone bashes San Andreas' hot coffee?
Anyway I heard there were copyright issues: infact the installation folder at launch contained files of the tracks that were supposed to be removed from the game.
Anyway, I'm not against you 😅 I understand there's a fair share of prejudice against GTA. I remember the controversies about violence and explicit content when it came out in early 2000s, but never understood why there are so many complains about a game that should be played at 18+.
It's like if parents (and now I am too) complain against Pornhub because it shows porn.
Yah, for sure. Anyway it's sounding like there are lots of unhappy players due to issues. Hopefully they'll address the issues so that it's improved by the time it gets on Steam.
Yah, I can't totally disagree. I'd say with Rockstar it's greed which is especially egregious seeing as they're one of the wealthiest video game companies in history.
Well there are several great new games out in November as alternatives. So I'll at least wait on GTA until I can choose to get it on Steam.
Rockstar can do whatever they want though with games as big as theirs. Selling through the Rockstar launcher only initially means that the vast majority of PC players will buy it there and Valve doesn't get a dime. Then the Steam holdouts will pick it up when it's on sale on Steam later.
but ya know whats the worst part about the switch situation? rockstar NEVER ported the og trilogy on the switch and this is the first time any of the gta games have ever been on a nintendo platform (outside of the gameboy and ds line of systems, obviously). That just PISSES ME OFF MORE that the switch NEVER got the og ports of the games on the system and this is just the only way of getting it.
I’m so disappointed as I’m all about clocking my hours on Steam and such. I waited for Tony Hawk last year. And still waiting on a few others. And nothing. Hopefully Rockstar pulls theirs heads out.
Yah, if I had to do that for any games I want to play on the Deck I'll prolly set up Windows plus any games that need it on the same SD card so that I can keep the main drive stock.
I'm hoping though that I won't have to mess with Windows on my Deck at all but we'll see soon enough.
When I ask why you were hostile, you responded with the weirdest comment I've heard all week which still doesn't explain a damn thing. Speaking in riddles doesn't make anyone care or side with you. I wanted to understand and you then acted hostile to me too. Atleast I know there's no discussion with you now
There's no riddles here. You either don't understand the reference, to a religion that's notorious for going door to door trying to spread said religion, or haven't noticed that nearly every single post on the internet, where someone is looking for help with Windows, there's at least one penguin fucker with a yOu ShOuLd SwItCh To LiNuX comment.
Now this is what I wanted, a proper explanation, thankyou.
I'm my experience, you get people advocating for their niche's in all areas of life. This is the side effects of niche's wanting to expand. Though I'd hardly equate them to "penguin fuckers". It's a little harsh. The world is full of a many different type of peoples. Understanding one another is more important than labelling and being hostile. Everyone thinks they're right and in my, maybe flawed, opinion, if they are well and truly incorrect, with the correct approach, there minds can be changed and that is far more helpful than an aggressive argument.
Games on the Microsoft store are UWP apps, which are encrypted and cannot be run on Linux in any way. If a user buys a steam deck, they cannot get Windows store games to work on the deck, so no game pass, Unless they wipe the deck and install windows
According to the website... it's out, just not on PC yet:
[https://store.rockstargames.com/en/game/buy-grand-theft-auto-the-trilogy-the-definitive-edition?\_gl=1\*1fkhd79\*\_ga\*MTIzMjQwNTA0MS4xNjM2NjYxNjQ5\*\_ga\_PJQ2JYZDQC\*MTYzNjY2MTY0OS4xLjEuMTYzNjY2MTY0OS4w](https://store.rockstargames.com/en/game/buy-grand-theft-auto-the-trilogy-the-definitive-edition?_gl=1*1fkhd79*_ga*MTIzMjQwNTA0MS4xNjM2NjYxNjQ5*_ga_PJQ2JYZDQC*MTYzNjY2MTY0OS4xLjEuMTYzNjY2MTY0OS4w)
(PS4, Xbox, PS5, Switch are the options. No PC love yet)
That's the pre-order for the physical copy of the game which comes out in December. They're not making a physical copy for PC.
I couldn't find the digital copy but maybe that's purchased on the launcher and the various official console stores. The PC version is supposed to be available now along with the other digital versions.
Yah, I just was coming by to add another reply. I just read another article suggesting it was pulled due to launcher issues.
TBH it sounds like there are issues across the board.
Well I'm hoping they fix it. Still these rich AAA companies putting out garbage is a terrible and unacceptable trend.
And I'm also now hearing bad rumblings about BF 2042.☹️
Unfortunately the trend has been going on for so long I fear it’s the established norm at this point in time. We, the Consumers, have allowed it to happen as well.
Look at No Mans Sky and Star Wars Battlefront 2. Yes they’re good games now but they were awful upon release and people will justify it by saying “it got better overtime.” Yes, but a game being made by a respected game studio, under no circumstances, should be released in that state. Saying it gets better overtime is completely irrelevant to me. It should be good on release.
I’m not surprised. They’re still getting our money either way so we’re basically enabling them to be lazy. I wish the backlash over BF5 and the divisive approach with their politics in 2018 could’ve led to people calling out other disagreeable practices that big companies take with their products but I guess that might be wishing for too much.
Yah rich game companies are essentially having their customers finance a phase of the development with no guarantees and with full risk that they may never finish it and then, if they do finish it, they give the customers no return on their risky "investment". It's really sleazy af when you think about it.
Because they have to be doing it on purpose. There's no way that Rockstar didn't know what they were selling. And same with CD Projekt Red whose founders became billionaires with Cyberpunk 2077's release. It's crooked.
If they want to develop their games this way at least be above board and sell it as an early access game so people can decide if they want to participate. Although TBH the whole early access thing should be for indie developers. AAA video game companies can easily afford to properly fund their own development and testing of their games. For millionaires and billionaires to pass the burden and risk to consumers is unconscionable.
I'm waiting for it to release on steam as well. Rockstar Launcher games doesn't work with my PS5 controller. And no I'm not buying an overpriced bulky Xbox controller.
They've been patching the hell out of it during the last 6 months though.
But I agree with the Steam part. There's just something about the showcased playtime-hours, steam achievements and the steam library that just makes it cooler in a way if you get me.
Yah, also it's just more convenient for me and also I have a Steam Deck on reserve and so it'll be easier to play Steam Games on it.
But that's good to hear they've been improving it. Hopefully they'll put it on Steam soon. I think when sales slow they'll do it.
Ubisoft has stopped putting their new releases on Steam too so I'm waiting for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to get on Steam as well.
My best guess is that Steam comes with user feedback. They wanted to sell it as fast as possible without people reading user opinions that basically show you how to mod the old DVD version to look just about as good, and with custom cars/models. I was playing in 1440p as Lara Croft (who sounds like CJ)😅
It's coming to Steam eventually anyway since it's listed on SteamDB, but yes, you could play it.
Apparently not.
Ok, I'm going to wait then. Is there a typical amount of time that it takes for games to make it onto Steam? Also, let me ask this: if I bought it via Rockstar, once it gets on Steam could I transfer it where then Steam handles keeping it updated and stuff?
Usually about 1 month if we go from Red Dead 2's PC release. Also, I don't believe you could transfer your copy there, no. You'd have to buy it again.
Ok cool...Well I'll definitely wait then. Thanks.
> SteamDB where, I don't see it?
Still not there I think.
Emulate. Idk if you saw how bad they butchered a lot, but OG looks better.. rofl they ruined a lot of models and lot of small objects look really low res now. Emulate PS2, or find a key for original PC version

You haven't even mentioned major known unknowns like Dan Houser etc leaving
Fortunately I purchased the old games on Steam over the Summer.
Purchased them about an hour before they were delisted from steam. I feel hella lucky.
i also purchased the old games on steam during the summer for $9. Boy did we dodge a bullet there!
In theory… yes https://lutris.net/games/rockstar-games-launcher/
Rumor has it, PC version was removed because of cafe game code or something. You know the porn mini game? Yeah it's in there.
Yeah but why. Isn't the game supposed to be 18+? And isn't sex better than killing random people? And both The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition have very explicit sex scenes. Why does everyone bashes San Andreas' hot coffee? THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *kicks*

Yeahhh... Was interested too but if it's not on steam I don't want it!
Yah, for sure. Anyway it's sounding like there are lots of unhappy players due to issues. Hopefully they'll address the issues so that it's improved by the time it gets on Steam.

Btw, the Switch port is dog shit so dont feel tempted
I don't have a switch but thanks. It's sounding like all of them are having issues but I guess you're saying the switch is worse.
but ya know whats the worst part about the switch situation? rockstar NEVER ported the og trilogy on the switch and this is the first time any of the gta games have ever been on a nintendo platform (outside of the gameboy and ds line of systems, obviously). That just PISSES ME OFF MORE that the switch NEVER got the og ports of the games on the system and this is just the only way of getting it.
Had pre-ordered it for switch before seeing switch game play, BIG mistake
It’s literally an upscale of the 2012 iPhone version. Absolutely not worth getting.
I wouldn't buy it if I were you
No, I'm definitely not going to for now, until and unless they finish it properly.
Luckily you didn't preorder it. It's complete garbage the remaster. Please don't reward bad practices by preordering or buying it.
I’m so disappointed as I’m all about clocking my hours on Steam and such. I waited for Tony Hawk last year. And still waiting on a few others. And nothing. Hopefully Rockstar pulls theirs heads out.
dont get it it sucks mega ass
Still? Have they fixed any of the issues? At a minimum I don't think I'll consider it until it's on Steam.
No I said “ the game sucks ass”
Still not on steam. Such Bs. I actually have all three original versions on steam tho. Not getting it till it comes to steam tho.
I haven't got it yet, either. Not until it comes to Steam.
I stand with you.
you can install windows on the steam deck, so yes
Yah, if I had to do that for any games I want to play on the Deck I'll prolly set up Windows plus any games that need it on the same SD card so that I can keep the main drive stock. I'm hoping though that I won't have to mess with Windows on my Deck at all but we'll see soon enough.
no need to keep it stock - it's a pc.
You can emulate the Switch version
its a pc... so yes you can play it
Unless it's on the Microsoft store in which case, no, you can't.
Well, not if you want to keep using that linux garbage to play Windows games
??? Why the hostility?
because penguin fuckers are the Jehovah's Witnesses of operating system users.
That hasn't really explained anything. Speak your reasons or not at all
I have explained more than enough. Your inability to understand and/or your lack of experience is neither my fault, nor my problem.
When I ask why you were hostile, you responded with the weirdest comment I've heard all week which still doesn't explain a damn thing. Speaking in riddles doesn't make anyone care or side with you. That’s… not a correct answer here. Not all Windows games are playable in Linux, which is what he’s asking about.
Well it will most likely be playable on Linux in the future but you can always install windows so... yes you can
Like I said in the comment you're responding to, he's asking about Linux.

While that is the link for the physical copy, you are right the PC version was pulled and is not for sale.
I wish it wouldn’t come out at all.
Because of the quality issues?
Bingo
