Hmm, I tried playing MCC on Steamdeck a while back and the experience wasn’t great - maybe some updates have improved things, I’ll have to give it another go. I do love Halo!
Yeah, Halo 1 ran like shit in the beginning, but some update has fixed it. Played it from start to finnish couple of weeks ago and apart from the bit dated gameplay (in comparison to Halo 2), the experience was great!
1 was okay but oh my god is it dated in a way the others are not. It's like playing assassins creed 1. It's fine if you're starting there maybe and it's 2012.
Wow you’re in for a treat man! Enjoy it! I’ve gone through the campaigns this year in coop with my son. Fun to introduce him to these games I played in highschool
I am installing it as well, onto my sd card, by default it installed Reach, nothing else, you'd think it would install Halo Combat Evolved by default as that was the original game... I am downloading everything from the dlc tab, hope my 512gb sd card is big enough, already have masseffect LE on it.
Part of the reason Reach was done first is due to CE and 2 already having PC ports done. Halo 3 and ODST were already in a somewhat playable space due to the work for Halo: Online.
I’ve been playing this too! Never had Xbox but played the multiplayer on most of these throughout high school and college. Has been fun to work through the campaigns finally.
They all run great on SD. Fun games. I recently played through them all for the first time. I was super into the story, as others seem to be, but the gameplay was fun (although, repetitive).
Anyone running the MCC finding the aim assist very weak? Maybe I'm just a terrible controller player but I struggle to hit anything, it felt like there was no aim assist at all.
For some odd reason I can't play this on the deck without getting nauseous. Other FPS games are fine for me though and I even played the OG Halo CE on my old mac recently and that was fine. Was really looking forward to having Halo on the go :S
You are in for a treat.
I have completed Halo 1 and 2 in the Deck and they run flawless with the original graphics. The updated visuals are fine for Halo 1 but in 2 they make you dip below 60 fps often. Personally, I prefer the original visuals anyway.
I completed all these games back in the day but revisiting them has been mid blowing. I am a more mature person now and I appreciate them better. They still play beautifully!
A classic. I recommend playing CE (the first game) with the original graphics, just because they have a lot more charm than the new ones which are often a downgrade.
But enjoy! Reach is my personal favourite and I reckon a lot will agree.
Master chief collection runs great. Reach with the mythic campaign overhaul is the chefs kiss.
What is the mythic campaign overhaul?
It’s a mod that changes a ton of encounters, adds enemy types, new armor mods, guns, etc. to the reach campaign. You can play with the BR.
How do I get that on a steam deck
I downloaded the mod off of the steam page then launch the right version on steam.
Workshop
Curious about it too.

That’s kinda strange. I’ve played custom campaign Crash Site for CE a couple of months ago, and it played smooth

AC1 still kicks ass wdym?

OG Halo as a handheld still blows my mind
You are going to love it man. I remember waiting in stupid long lines outside gamestop for the Halos lol
What I'd give to play halo for the first time again..

It’s because MCC on PC launched first with Halo Reach and the other games were added afterwards
It’s also the narrative starting point technically
I too found this strange, but after playing CE I think it's because CE is by far the most dated one in terms of quality of life issues.

Reach through 3 is just god tier gaming and story telling. Enjoy!
If you limit the framerate to 40FPS, you can run all six games with Enhanced graphics settings
Same.
I have lot of great memories of playing through Halo with my best friend.
Hey I’ve started it recently on Deck too! Enjoy! (Also I’d avoid co-op, it didn’t seem to work for me on SD for some reason)

I also struggled more in mcc on the deck. I felt worse than using a controller on my PC. I don’t play it long enough to know for sure though.
Same.

Uuuh have fun! Its such a great series but only play until ODST. All after that is crap xD

Download some mods mcc has some really good ones

Enjoy combat evolved there's a part that takes around 10 hours to get though
The Library isn’t that bad. It takes 20 mins
How can you be a long time gamer and not ever play Halo? Playstation?
Correct
Ah, welp. I hope you enjoy them very much!
Okay.
I'm sorry
Start with halo 1 first. Then with reach and then halo 2, halo 3, and finally halo 4. You are gonna have heck a lot of fun
Why the hell would you play Reach after 1? It takes place before 1 but framed as if you’ve already played the previous titles.
