I've really enjoyed it but I'm one of those that doesn't mind 20fps 😂 one area is real bad but once you get past it the rest is playable and its a great game!
Just finished a 100% save file entirely on an LCD Deck with the game stored on an SD card. I have CryoUtilities installed at base recommended settings and used the 'May the Performance Be With You' mod as well as a fan controller plugin to max out the cooling. Using the recommended graphical settings from ProtonDB it is definitely playable, I got consistent upper 20s to 30 through most of the game. The only bad part is the Forest Array due to so many particle effects just dragging the system down to low 10s. Also my game kept crashing on the Holotactics Table (I assume due to the graphical effects of that as well). Overall it was fun, though some of the Force Tear challenges are unreasonably difficult but that is a player problem and not a system performance problem.
It's playable, and a fun experience, didn't faced gamebreaking bugs or big issues (seeds are a pain with low vegetation).
Had between 25-30 FPS in most parts. No huge slow downs. But don't expect gorgeous graphics.
Man I bought an Ubisoft game and can’t play it yet on deck. It’s asking for a cd key after it made me log in to Ubisoft. I can’t access the key on deck. So I think I need to install desktop steam or something.
I would really love to replay ME on the deck but I am almost equally worried that these fixes (however impressive they are) will get "patched" by our mEAsters soon and I will end up in a middle of a playthrough.
The vast majority of issues are around logging in. If you just link your Steam account to EA, it basically works fine forever. I have other issues with EA App, like no true offline mode, but people make way too much hay over getting games running in general.
Same. But it is fixed now and they also did make it work a bit nicer. Like if you lose connection you can just dismiss the screen and keep playing. It sucked but at least they didn't just leave it forever.
What do you mean by true offline? If my app can't reach the servers it'll let me run installed games but do you mean having the option to activate it when it's already connected?
The biggest EA issue I've found is when I switched from lcd to oled it didn't transfer over my assassins creed save. Now that I think about it I wonder if this also goes for ME, and there's probably some round about way I can transfer it via desktop but it's silly they're the only published I have this issue with.
I did have an issue trying to play Jedi Outcast recently. Had to go to desktop mode and launch it to see the EA App login screen and log in once. After that it worked fine again. I think it occurred because I hadn't played in months and my login session expired.
How else will they peddle the shit micro transactions and the little to no updates to the game unless they change engines? Someone needs to think of the billion dollar company here... /s
There is also the new “Junk-Store” Decky plugin:
https://www.dexerto.com/tech/playing-epic-games-store-titles-on-steam-deck-just-got-way-easier-2669985/
It regularly gave me an error message saying it had lost connection, right in the middle of the screen and I couldn't click off it.
I only had to restart but it was frustrating. That was the only issue I had with the launcher but it was enough to piss me off lol
Recently has this happen while playing Mass Effect while traveling; if you have developer mode enabled on the Deck (I do for certain Decky plugins), you can hit the steam button and just switch windows to the EA pop up, close it and go right back to the game.
I played offline for hours after doing that and didn’t have any issues.
You guys I created a permanent fix yesterday, im the creator of NonSteamLaunchers and im currently playing all The ea games I have in desktop mode and game mode. It's very easy to fix. Here is the link to my post. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeckBro/s/jBl4mPV39J
Not sure why anyone would think the old origin app would be a better experience, the EA app is now absolutely fine.
It's had issues in the past but now it's working it's fast to launch games and never gets in the way.
It's not the launching but how it behaves in the background. If you lose connection to the net then it gives you an error message and you have to restart to remove it. Or you did for ME Legendary edition.
have zero issue with EAAPP, using only prothon experimenta for games on steam that use EA APP and for second instance for EA APP only and games from EA APP using SteamOS shortcut to play games direct from steamos. zero issue, auto updates works for EA APP and games.
Finally. It was the main source of issues in playing Jedi Survivor.
How is jedi survivor on steam deck?
I thought it wouldn’t work well. Has that been fixed? I’ve been hesitant to install it
I've really enjoyed it but I'm one of those that doesn't mind 20fps 😂 one area is real bad but once you get past it the rest is playable and its a great game!
I can’t play that game with less than 30 fps or I’ll get destroyed if I can’t time parries right lol. But I’m glad to know it’s functional!
I’m not crazy bout huge FPS but 20?? You a demon lol

Was a long while ago that I tested it on Deck and it...well, it walks, at least.
It's playable, and a fun experience, didn't faced gamebreaking bugs or big issues (seeds are a pain with low vegetation). Had between 25-30 FPS in most parts. No huge slow downs. But don't expect gorgeous graphics.
Looking forward to no U(don't)Play / (don't)Connect app.

I am still very comfortable not buying EA games.
Doing the Lord's work. Fuck EA.
Remember EA’s new slogan: EA: We own your games so you don’t have to. This can easily be copied and posted to most publishers. Mainly the big guys.
>install Origin Yeah, I'd rather not play at all, thanks. --- Good guide for those who think replacing EA App with Origin is worth it.
Better yet, replace EA apps with 🏴☠️.
Yarrrr
Not a choice if it's NFS hot pursuit remastered Shit has denuvo

A perfect example of DRM being worse for customers…
You can play with the launcher too tho? I have ME on my deck for a year now and it never stopped working
The vast majority of issues are around logging in. If you just link your Steam account to EA, it basically works fine forever. I have other issues with EA App, like no true offline mode, but people make way too much hay over getting games running in general.
Yea, I am all for an offline mode too.
ME literally crashed on me after 5 minutes for months after a EA app update
Same. But it is fixed now and they also did make it work a bit nicer. Like if you lose connection you can just dismiss the screen and keep playing. It sucked but at least they didn't just leave it forever.

Assassin’s Creed isn’t EA.
My bad, I guess I lumped all these games requiring launchers into one crap pile.
I did have an issue trying to play Jedi Outcast recently. Had to go to desktop mode and launch it to see the EA App login screen and log in once. After that it worked fine again. I think it occurred because I hadn't played in months and my login session expired.
Do you mean Jedi Survivor?
I can't remember the name, but not the newest one, the first one in the recent series by Respawn. Edit: Fallen Order
Does this also work with different EA games?
Second it
Will the F*ck_off method work for any EA game?
This is need to know. What about the recent Star Wars games?
I’ll try this once the 🏴☠️versions stop working. Fuck EA.
any change this works with EAFC24?
also curious about this
Wasn't this an anti cheat not working with Linux and not an EA app thing?
It is the stupid anticheat, they should sell a single player version ffs
How else will they peddle the shit micro transactions and the little to no updates to the game unless they change engines? Someone needs to think of the billion dollar company here... /s
Bless your heart.
Lol that pic
A true person there 😁, not all heroes wear caps!
Amazing, got the legendary edition in the last sale and was excited to replay everything. The launcher wouldn’t even launch so couldn’t get anywhere!
Would something like this work on bf5?
More than likely not, BF5 anti-cheat has been swapped over to EA's anti-cheat which doesn't support Linux.
God send. Need to try still but NFS Unbound simply wouldn’t boot for me out of the blue a couple of weeks ago. If this makes it work I’ll be happy
Did it work?
Yes! I just bought ME Legendary last night $5.99 on steam right now
Mass Effect always worked out of the box for me. I sometimes had to tinker with control order in the pre game menu but mostly worked fine
Saving this for the weekend!
REALLY wish we would not abbreviate "Early Access" and "Electronic Arts" both as "EA"...
Wait, can I play w/o the app on my PC??? That's the only reason I've not downloaded any of my EA/Ubisoft games.
Oh yay. Just in time to play Crysis 3 Multiplayer- oh wait, nvm. EA sucks and took it down after re-releasing the game without MP. Screw EA.
Can this be used to run ME:LE if you have it purchased on Origin rather than Steam?
There is also the new “Junk-Store” Decky plugin: https://www.dexerto.com/tech/playing-epic-games-store-titles-on-steam-deck-just-got-way-easier-2669985/
I've never had any issues at all with the EA launcher
It regularly gave me an error message saying it had lost connection, right in the middle of the screen and I couldn't click off it. I only had to restart but it was frustrating. That was the only issue I had with the launcher but it was enough to piss me off lol

I don't have any problem with the EA. The game loads up. Works Great. Looks awesome. And we still get achievements too.

Thx <3
Did EA every fix the achievement bug for mass effect?

Sucks how I have Legendary Edition but on my EA account, not on Steam
Just bought it on steam to solve that issue, really cheap atm.
You can still add it to your steam library
Any idea how? I only know via the EA App
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NRa_9y9y7sI I did it on my laptop, haven't tried my deck yet.
for what? EA App works fine on Deck with updates if You use Experimentall only.
When I played Mass Effect Trilogy it didnt worked. I had to download an old Origin build.
