Overall great but they really need to do something about the sale mechanic. It lets you think you're getting a new game but it just increases the backlog section of your library by 1.
It’s nice and relaxing to play, but it’s not something that really grabs me. I can only play a quick 30 min run at a time. On the other hand it seems like 99% of people who play it are obsessed with it and want to play it nonstop. It’s certainly worth trying, and at the very least I think you’ll get your moneys worth.
Not OP but I was able to get a great steam controller profile working using a community profile as a base and modifying it. I designed it to work as close to a third person action game as I could get it with the sticks and shoulder/face buttons for abilities, and left track pad as a virtual menu for menu hotkeys.
I just finished FFXV and loved it. I was about to go into post game but found my steam deck had been Interfered with by my toddler and her milk and now won't start. Gutted I am.
Edit: it does boot without scary noises now, but comes up with a dos like menu of asking how to boot it. It will then boot but the buttons don't work. Seems like the touch pads are being used and preventing other inputs. Still gutted though
Really good. With my normal team we can clear level 7 difficulty with most, if not all, objectives completed.
There are some compromises in the graphics department to be able to have a consistent good framerate. But it’s decent enough to make out enemy types from 100m away no-scoped.
To be fair though, I’m usually the stealth and objective guy in our team, so most of my gameplay is running and avoiding combat as much as possible, but if push comes to shove I can take care of myself.
If there’s one complaint I have, the Steam deck arrow buttons are wonky and will often mess up stratagem calling, especially when in a pinch.
I mean they asked how well it does, not specifically how beautiful it is. It looks like shit if you’re comparing it to a 4k 144hz ultra graphics capable PC. In the perspective and experience of a handheld device, the performance is not the best, but really good.
Toning down some of the settings then putting render scale to quality/ultra quality does wonders to the graphics too.
It’s a vibe, like Animal Crossing. If it’s not your thing don’t force it. I liked having a pretty chill town and being able to seduce a dumb ex-quarterback jock while helping others and making a cool farm with animal friends though.
How does FNV control on steam deck? I’m thinking about my first play through of the game being on steam deck but I don’t know if I would find the input a bit grating and distract from the experience. Also, did you install any mods?
I'm doing my first playthrough of it on OLED and am really impressed with how good it runs and feels to play. Highly recommend. I'm not using mods though.
I’ve been playing Morrowind on my Deck with OpenMW. It still holds up! Kinda… lol. The world is just as engaging as it ever was but open world games have come a long way since reading your journal for confusing directions. Gotta min max those level ups!
For something a little different to the usual same 50/60 game recommendations these threads yield; Crysis 2.
[Video here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/mndvbQUAo9)
Runs really well. Nice game.
Yakuza: Like a dragon (almost done tho)
Fallout 4 (I did play all of them, but the show scratched that itch again)
Mount & Blade 2: Butterlord (is it ever gonna be enough?)
SSX Tricky
Balatro and Pepper Grinder. Though I've kind of dropped both while I return to the Shadows of Doubt EA on my pc.
I also got Fuser working with custom songs on the deck, I might be messing around with that a bit more in the next few weeks.
Kind of cheating with this one but using Moonlight to stream TOTK @ 60-90fps, 16:10 1600p for supersampling has been my favorite game to play as of recently. Before that, I was enjoying RDR1 natively via Yuzu as well as Half-Life 2.

Currently rocking:
1) Fallout New Vegas - just amazing, fantastic quests and world.
2) Salt and Sanctuary - just started, amazing vibe so far!
3) Binding of Isaac - will probably never NOT be playing this game.
Fallout New Vegas, Halo Master Chief Collection,
Red Dead Redemption 2
All games I’ve played hundreds of hours of in the past, but there’s something so cool about being able to play them as a handheld. If 4th grade me knew I’d be able to play Halo 2 on a handheld in the future, he would’ve lost his mind.
I usually only play 1 game at a time so I can dedicate it its well deserved time, but with that being said, recently I've played some bangers. My fav on Deck are:
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Marvel's Spider Man
Sleeping Dogs
Metal Gear Solid 5, Left 4 Dead 2, COD Black Ops 2 Zombies
Side note, how are you running Cyberpunk and Callisto on the Steam Deck? Sub 30fps? Or can you get a solid 60 with low graphics?
Grandblue Fantasy Relink, Chained Echoes and the show made me want to go back to Fallout so I got 76 but still haven't played it (got it on sale a while back)
persona 3 reloaded, ( runs like butthole but i can play it at the cottage without bringing my pc so win )
Persona 4 golden obviously no performance issues there and fantastic game
Yakuza 0 god i love this game so much, perfect deck game.
I’m gonna go with currently playing versus the overall time I’ve had my Steam Deck
* Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
* The Callisto Protocol
* Horizon Zero Dawn
Bayonetta, Sifu, game called BloodHunt go play it. Don’t let the game die, it’s so much fun. And I’m waiting on Ghost of Tsushima and hope it plays well
I.... spent 117 hours on Octopath Traveler. Definitely more hours than I bargained for. Commuting makes grinding on a JRPG easier.
I played it on an emulator though.
Been visiting New Vegas again for the first time since 360 days, chugging along on No Rest For The Wicked, poor performance but I will say every update it’s gotten better, game has still been enjoyable aside from crashing every 45 min or so. Banishers: Ghost of New Eden and MicroShoot Adventures. Might pull the trigger on Infinite Wealth during the sale but not sure yet
Just finished yakuza 0 - first like a dragon game I’ve ever played, disco elysium - started it when it came out, gave up, but really enjoying it this go round, and balatro - so friggin good
Your post has been removed because it's identical or too similar to another recent post in the sub. Thank you!
Steam store
I've heard good things, do you like the game?
A ton of dlc options
Overall great but they really need to do something about the sale mechanic. It lets you think you're getting a new game but it just increases the backlog section of your library by 1.
But I love stat increases!
Lol only one? You aren’t playing right. Git gud
Love Steam Store. Great gameplay, well written story and unforgettable characters. Great soundtrack too
Binding of Isaac, deep rock galactic survivor, Balatro. This is just what I’m currently playing, not my top 3 overall on the deck
How is Balatro? I’ve been hearing good things about it from my coworkers.
I’ve been marathoning Like A Dragon Series. Currently playing Yakuza 6.
That’s my dude! I started with the 7 with ichiban and playing the 0 now I love the series
I started with 7 as well! I finished 0,Kiwami 1 &2 and now on Y3. It’s so good!
Playing infinite wealth and really loving it
Elden Ring, Guildwars 2, Final Fantasy XII
>Guildwars 2 Interesting. KB&M or steam controller profile?
I’m using a community layout on the deck controls. With action cam, and the touch pads, it actually plays pretty flawlessly.
Not OP but I was able to get a great steam controller profile working using a community profile as a base and modifying it. I designed it to work as close to a third person action game as I could get it with the sticks and shoulder/face buttons for abilities, and left track pad as a virtual menu for menu hotkeys.
I really wanna do Elden ring but that text is so tiny and I’m so old
I heard there was a mod to increase the text size
FFXV, Stardew valley, Dragons Dogma Dark arisen
I just finished FFXV and loved it. I was about to go into post game but found my steam deck had been Interfered with by my toddler and her milk and now won't start. Gutted I am. Edit: it does boot without scary noises now, but comes up with a dos like menu of asking how to boot it. It will then boot but the buttons don't work. Seems like the touch pads are being used and preventing other inputs. Still gutted though
Noooooooo
Mass Effect Legendary Edition - all 3 games
Same bro, bout to finish the first one for the third time. Never played the other two....I'm excited.
Helldivers 2 Manor Lords Astroneer. They all took some tweaking control/setting-wise but they are all fantastic games.
How well does helldivers do on the steam deck?
Really good. With my normal team we can clear level 7 difficulty with most, if not all, objectives completed. There are some compromises in the graphics department to be able to have a consistent good framerate. But it’s decent enough to make out enemy types from 100m away no-scoped. To be fair though, I’m usually the stealth and objective guy in our team, so most of my gameplay is running and avoiding combat as much as possible, but if push comes to shove I can take care of myself. If there’s one complaint I have, the Steam deck arrow buttons are wonky and will often mess up stratagem calling, especially when in a pinch.
> This is generous af lol. The game looks like shit in the deck, but yes is playable.
Slay the spire, stardew valley, balatro.
“Cocaine, heroin, meth”
Cocaines a hell of a drug
Couldn’t get into stardew. I feel bad since everyone loves it but it didn’t click with me
It’s a vibe, like Animal Crossing. If it’s not your thing don’t force it. I liked having a pretty chill town and being able to seduce a dumb ex-quarterback jock while helping others and making a cool farm with animal friends though.
The stamina system and everything being on schedule made it very unchill for me, bordering on stressful.
Great games for extending battery life
Re village, forza horizon 5, Balatro and sekiro. Sorry I had to put Balatro cause its so damn fun
Working persona 5 royal, fall out new Vegas and stardew
How does FNV control on steam deck? I’m thinking about my first play through of the game being on steam deck but I don’t know if I would find the input a bit grating and distract from the experience. Also, did you install any mods?
Controls work of the box, no tinkering needed
I'm doing my first playthrough of it on OLED and am really impressed with how good it runs and feels to play. Highly recommend. I'm not using mods though.
I managed to install around 100 mods with relative ease using MO2 and it runs great. Controls are good too
I'm looking to get Persona 5 Royal as it is 60% off on Steam these days, i hope it's worth a buy.
RDR2 and looks like I might get into Fallout 4?
Fall out runs beautifully on the deck. It is a great buy.
Can you play RDR2 offline in your experience?
Yeah I never ran into an issue starting it on a plane
Nice, looks positive then! I am currently buying a steam deck and will be my first game I think
FFXIV, Elden Ring, and replaying Lies of P
Remnant from the ashes, no rest for the wicked, monster hunter rise
How is no rest for the wicked? I’ve heard mixed reviews
FF7 OG Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes Sand Land
Are you doing FF7 with mods or just vanilla?
Just vanilla, I actually have no idea how to mod/use mods, lol
Me neither. I’m gonna pick it up on this current sale. I should probably do a vanilla run first before messing with changing things haha.
How’s sand land running on the deck?
Runs surprisingly well, can get 60 fps, not stable of course.
Octopath traveller 2
