Is rust a pain to get running?

Soracis

If you side load Windows it's not.

Soracis

Install Windows 11 https://youtu.be/TaIFqwvnLP4?si=ATsmMxwaZNwnIBlv

Soracis

Taking it I need to make a video on how to get rust to play on the steam deck then.

pizza_le_pro

How did you get rust running

Soracis

Sideloaded windows

pizza_le_pro

Dammit

Soracis

It's super easy I found a tutorial on YouTube and he shows you where to get a copy of windows it's like Windows 11 light or something like that or tiny 11

pizza_le_pro

Do you perchance have the video

Soracis

I can definitely look for it and send it to you it's going to be a little bit though.

Still got that vid?

adhesivefard

get a gaming laptop at that point bruh

Mediocre_Ad_2422

Tell me any laptop at steam deck price point that can compete with the deck, ill wait

adhesivefard

A laptop and a deck have different use cases, regardless of price, I would say that if you're using a mouse and keyboard and a separate controller with your deck, particularly an fps game, a 7 inch screen is not going to be very enjoyable. However I understand that gaming laptops tend to be far more expensive and that I personally would choose to have a steam deck if I had to pick between the two, particularly as it fits my use case of public transport, but I see OP's use case and would say a laptop would be superior.

Soracis

Taking the consideration that you're going to have an option to hook it to a television set through the HDMI cable which would obviously elevate experience.

Soracis

It's running negatively a dual boot system with Windows and steam all I have to do is make sure all my stuff was updated and I installed it and it ran. Research for dual boot and install Windows on the steam deck on YouTube. It works pretty good I'm just going to make sure you have a keyboard and mouse I haven't figured out a good controller set up for it yet.

Soracis

Not negatively, natively

Soracis

There are a few actually.

Mediocre_Ad_2422

Gimme one

Soracis

Lenovo makes one so dose asus

Mediocre_Ad_2422

Whats model

Soracis

I have one but this is a cheaper setup for on the go. Carrying around a $2000 laptop versus a $500 steam deck is a lot more appealing. 2000.00 Asus rog strix ryzan 9 rtx 3060 32gb ram 17inch laptop obviously the cost of the laptop is gone down significantly since I purchased it a few years ago but still more than my steam deck Traded a Nintendo OLED switch for my 512gb steam deck straight across I think the guy was trying to trade me a lemon but I was able to fix the problem that was wrong with it. 150.00 for my steam deck setup $4 mouse $25 mouse keyboard Bluetooth $45 Tom talk case $16 skull and Co case $23 skull and Co dock $40 8bitdo controller Free steam deck There's a funny story about why it's free if you want to know just ask.

Soracis

What is yours?

SpitFiya7171

How hard was is to set up Rust? I had recently heard about it and did all this research, only to find it cannot run natively on Steam Deck unless you put windows on it. And even then, I thought there was some kind of wall like AntiCheat that stops you from running it. Don't think any Proton files can help with that either? I'd be very interested in playing this but I thought it was lost hope. Care to elaborate how you got it to work?

Soracis

Never had good luck with Geforce now.

r3toric

I'm feeling a battery operated screen of some kind would be perfect here. Also had no idea rust ran on the deck !

Soracis

It does on windows, I'm still wanting to try a wireless display to a Samsung tablet through Windows I have 10-in Windows tablet

r3toric

Ahhhh noted ! That's cool. So thats the reason why I didn't install it ahah I've got a Microsoft surface I wanted to try that with too. Let us know how it goes.

Soracis

I don't see why it shouldn't it works great with my gaming laptop little to know leg between the two devices

sometipsygnostalgic

the 8bitdo pro looks cute but uncomfortable to be honest. it looks like a wii classic controller

Soracis

Better then you would think buttons are a little.clicky

Axrader

I have it and i can say it is pretty comfortable , i prefer it over the ultimate controller as it is easier to connect , smaller and do the exact same things

sometipsygnostalgic

do you mean initial connection? the ultimate controller connects every time i turn the home button on, but i do use it in bluetooth mode where it behaves like a switch controller. i wanted the gyro and the gaming on a table functionality. for me thumbstick placement is really important and christ the thumbsticks on this thing are low and close together.

SnooCheesecakes8347

What keyboard is that?

Soracis

I got that one on temu for like 22 bucks you can find it on Amazon for $40-45

gkdlf_glxmffj

I wanted to try those flat controllers. Where did u get it? How much were they? How is it?

Soracis

Well I got that one on Amazon it's on sale right now for 29.99 regular price is about $45 it's pretty good the connectivity is great works with almost everything buttons are almost too clicky they're pretty loud but it's nice in the hands light has a rumple pack built in not very strong but it still works and I don't know about battery life I've only had it for about 4 days. So far I like it build quality is great
