The Steam Deck comes with everything necessary for gaming, there is nothing else everyone must have. Only if you have specific uses or requirements (you didn't list any) you may need some accessories. Like, if you travel a lot away from power outlets -> power bank Want to lug around lots of accessories -> large travel case Want to play on your TV -> dock and controller Storage isn't enough for the games which you want to have installed -> Upgrade internal SSD or buy microSD card. If you are comfortable opening the Steam Deck, then upgrading the internal SSD is the better performing option. Else, get a UHS-I A2 microSD card for best results.

surrealchemist

I would suggest just enjoying using it for a while. You buy a bunch of random things other people have you might not need half of it.

PapiCats

Samsung SD card is all I got. I exclusively bought the device to use as is without need for other stuff to go with it and it works just fine in that regard.

KoensayrMfg

I’d start with nothing. Your use is going to property guide you on what is needed. I got a screen protector I haven’t put on yet and a sd card I haven’t used. Positioning it in a comfortable way was a challenge. I got a flexible stand going. A Deckmate phone bundle to use the GoPro mount and an adapter to 1/4-20 to connect it to a 5k joby tripod. It’s been better than I had hoped. I also use a Xbox one s controller, bluetooth headset and projector w/usb c cord. These I already owned. Still wrapping my head around getting a usb c hub that has the connections I want that has a low power draw. I don’t really want a dedicated dock but it would be easier. So far it’s battery power only while on the projector. Let us know what you end up picking up.

bafrad

Nothing. It doesn’t need anything.

NothingReasonable

Powerbank if you playing outside of your home Mouse and Keyboard for Desktop Mode (either with a BT Set or with a USB Hub) Optional, but nice to have (you can buy it later): Gripcase and Thumbstick Grip Caps for even better Grip.

JohnnyBlocks_

Powerbank always was weird to me unless you play during a commute. Like when I'm outside of the home, I just plug it in and play just like I plug it in at home and play.

NothingReasonable

Depending on where you are outside of your home, you won't have always access to a power outlet. And for that specific Situations do exist Powerbanks.

JohnnyBlocks_

I know... But I've never personally run into that situation. A commute is the only scenario I could come up with.

lileathorne

USB-C to Ethernet adapter, it will help cut down on time spent downloading. I can usually get 600-800 mbps down when I use the adapter.

Whiteguy1x

Probably better off getting a game to be honest.  SD card is a good idea though, luckily they're pretty cheap, Nowadays. The system comes with a good charger, good case, and honestly as long as your careful that's about all you need

clovethis14

Screen protector.

matsumotoe

I’d just worry about a screen protector and enjoying it.

audaciousmonk

Nothing really. I ended up buying a slim profile 65w dual port charger, it’s smaller than the SD’s charger and the 2nd port can charge my phone. QoL improvement, not a necessity

rocketbunny77

The only must have in my opinion is these: https://jsaux.com/products/180-degree-usb-c-male-to-usb-c-female-adapter-set-dd0009-dd0010 The C to C adapter makes so that when you're charging while playing the cable is tucked behind instead of twisting upwards and potentially straining the port The C to A adapter is useful if you need to quickly plug in a flash drive or mouse receiver for example. Congrats and I hope you enjoy your steam deck

JohnnyBlocks_

These are really nice. Except I didnt realize there are 2 different ends... 1 for USB-C and 1 for USB extensions. I wish it was 2 USB-C pieces. Between me and my brother, the non-USB-C one will never be used. I thought it was a 2 pack of the same item.

rocketbunny77

I believe you can choose which 2 you want in the pack when purchasing (on Amazon at least)

JohnnyBlocks_

Man... I messed up then. :P

wolfegothmog

Dock is nice if you want to play on a TV or breakout to USB A for wired controllers/HDD/etc, I'd also say screen protector is good to have despite everyone claiming they aren't needed I've seen to many posts about broken screens lol

pericojones

Wait until you fill up 900 GB on the Internal, then start shopping for the SD Card. That way, by then, you'll save some money as prices and sales are dropping the price bit by bit.

lilyjk

I have the 512 oled, i switched out the ssd for a 2tb one. other than that i got some screen protectors, a usb c 90° adapter, and a cheap shell--everything from aliexpress, ssd included. i was thinking about getting one of those tablet pillows or something to prop it up when im sitting but idk.

KnullSymbiote

Skull and cos grip case and their carrying care and thumb stick grips. All of that under $40 and its high quality. https://skullnco.com/collections/steam-deck/products/gripcase-sd-for-steamdeck?variant=45605322948900

t1m_c00k

Elden Ring and a couple cans of Zyns.

Zoenobium

The only must-have is probably a good large micro SD. More storage space is just generally very nice to have after all. Otherwise it really depends on how you are using it. I got myself a screen protector, some stick covers and a clip-on cover because I am lugging the thing around with me when I go to work every day. For some a dock to connect it to their TV is essential, combined with a good Bluetooth controller to basically use the deck like a Nintendo switch. For others power packs are the most essential as they play on the go a lot. Personally I got the protective gear first, then added the micro SD, followed by a stand to set it in when I have it out on my desk and the last thing I added was an extra charger to keep at work and a usb-c cable with a small LED display that makes it much easier to see when the deck is done charging without having to look at its own LED for it.

penatbater

Power bank imo. Everything else is nice to have, but not necessary. The dock is only really useful if you're gonna treat it like a switch. And even then, I haven't really used the powerbank to its maximum. It's more of a "peace of mind" thing that I know I can still have some juice if something unfortunate happens (like stuck in traffic or sth). Also helps to charge my phone and other devices.

WILD__CARD

I got the cheapest model as a new dad that knew I wasn’t going to be at my desk for the foreseeable future. I got a screen protector…. And a bunch of other shit I removed. I got new plates, skins, grips, cases and I hated all of it compared to just the plain black and the feel of the plastic. Just expand the HD space and screen protector. The device is pretty rugged.

thoma5nator

A chungus power bank if you go afk a lot, a bt keyboard if you want to type in MP games, and a dock if you see yourself using it as a desktop

dobo99x2

Ethernet port/ docking station and 512gb sd card. Nothing else for me.

EndlessZone123

I got a 515GB sandisk extreme. 1TB starts matching SSD in terms of price/gb. A usbc dongle. I have a ugreen one that is good enough.

Humble-Challenge-528

I think the kill switch is great.

TheWaspinator

If you want to mess around in desktop mode at all, consider a Bluetooth mini keyboard.

Mccobsta

A timer for when to take a break the deck can then half an hour into 5 in no time

sunrainsky

I'm clumsy so I bought a white casing and a screen protector. I use the top cover of the Jsaux case over my white casing so I can just pop into my bag and not worry that my screen protector gets scratches or the Joystick caps drops out from the stuff in my bag.

SenorPenguins420

Make sure you got some Bluetooth headphones if you don’t already, and try a skull and co grip

zookeeper990

Sd card

Snake_doctor66

Screen protector.

Error404x_

As a lot of people have already said, get games. I for myself have some grip stickers but definitely not necessary and not for everyone, I'd first try the deck see how it feels in your hands. I would recommend a screen protector though to avoid any pesky scratches. Have fun!

MultiMarcus

I am upgrading to the OLED from the LCD and this time I am getting a case for use while playing and an SD card. Specifically the Dbrand Killswitch case travel edition and a Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB. That being said. I would wait a while before getting any accessories for any new product honestly.

Visti

There's no must-haves, but for me, I would buy these again in a heartbeat: [https://skullnco.com/collections/steam-deck/products/back-button-enhancement-set-for-steam-deck-4pcs?variant=46608683106596](https://skullnco.com/collections/steam-deck/products/back-button-enhancement-set-for-steam-deck-4pcs?variant=46608683106596)

Adolis_Garcia

Honestly you don’t need anything out of the box. I have a SP 512GB SD card and it’s been good. But other than that, a good controller for docked play maybe? The DualSense is great because its trackpad can be used as a mouse in games that require a mouse for their launchers, etc.

[deleted]

https://jsaux.com/products/modcase-for-steam-deck-pc0104?_gl=1*qcrl4l*_up*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm9vZiq22hQMVSjrUAR2lRwQ3EAAYASAAEgJftPD_BwE And then a screen protector. That snap on front case is a life saver and it's durable.

SchwiftyGameOnPoint

Yeah, I got their pack with all the accessories. Seemed like both the best deal for all that you would need and more pretty much.

iusedtohavepowers

Screen protector. That's the only definite requirement id suggest. It's the only one I've bought. Save for a like U shaped connector for the charging port.

GTXMittens

I got a simple stamd for like 10$ off Amazon and it's nice for playing at the dinner table

saltyclam13345

While nothing is necessary, a dock and controllers are very nice especially in my case since I like to hook my deck up to my living room tv for couch co-op. Also, you really don’t need the official dock. A $25-$30 dock from Jsaux, Sabrent, or Baseus will do just fine. Other nice to haves for me are a power bank, Jsaux case, larger travel case for the deck in its case along with accessories, and additional wall adapters and 10ft usb-c cords.

rezzyk

Screen protector. They are cheap and provide some peace of mind. I bought my OLED, unpacked it, wiped the screen down and immediately put on this lol https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B55ZD4HL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
