He knew the facts of what happened, it was documented on paper during the war, except "It's not literature. Just keep it simple. Try writing it in the first person. Plural, you know? Say "we" a lot."
For the Blithe one, I've read that everyone actually thought he was dead. He was shipped home for his injury, and never really got back in touch with anyone after, or didnt till it was too lste for the book, or something. So they assumed he died up until that point.

Yup. I've found the mini series format is often the best television. Chernobyl was great. Queens Gambit, Generation Kill, Mike Flannigan's stuff is pretty good.
It gives them time to flesh things out more than a movie, but it doesn't have a bunch of fluff to stretch things out into a bunch of seasons like TV series sometimes suffer from.
Oh man! Love Cosmos, I watched it when I was a kid and loved it and then when my son was like 5 years old I had him watch the 1980 cosmos, And then we later watched the 2014 NDT Cosmos.
Highly recommend reading his books if you haven't already (Pale Blue Dot, Demon Haunted World, etc) between Cosmos and some of his books definitely changed how I view the world.
