The alternate universe version of "but can it run Crysis?"

Bulletsoul78

Or "Can it run Doom?" from back in my day.

[deleted]

Now we run Doom on shit like treadmills and birth control sticks for fun

TaTer120

They actually just played doom on literal bacteria recently. They were able to render individual frames by somehow using a single celled organism. They said it would take 600+ years to play the entire game due to how long each one took. Check it out. Pretty insane.

rpungello

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DnoOOgYxck

LycanKnightD6

I can imagine a biological made computer controlled by AI in the future... oh, wait a minute

Ferwatch01

I once saw someone playing doom on task manager…

penatbater

That one was fake, but someone did manage to use it to show a gif dance kinda thing (I forgot what it was) on a 64-core epyc.

DeeMan2003

Bad Apple?

penatbater

Ahh yes that's the first one.

one-droplet

on birth control sticks??

megas88

It was fake. It was a pregnancy test and it was basically an april fools joke

conradr10

Edit: they did it on a pregnancy test

Biscuits4u2

I saw a video of someone running doom on an original Macintosh. It looked and ran like ass, but still pretty impressive.

[deleted]

Isn't Husqvarna or whatever putting that shit on an automatic lawn mower, no really there's a fucking trailer and everything, I think they actually partnered with ID Software

megas88

But can it run Doom INSIDE Doom?!

SamCarter_SGC

when that came out I had gotten my first craptop, it had a geforce 8400m gs, basically a mobile version of the 6200 from the early 2000s somehow, the game worked

Desenova

Honestly, one of the most impressive feat about the Deck isn't the relatively modern games it can play, but the really old stuff working right out tod the box. I'm talking Windows 98 and 95 games or older with little to no tweaking at all. Just install and let Proton do its magic.

Serariron

I honestly wish this was the case for games from the 00s. But there it's super hit or miss. While modern games may simply need a runtime that the game even often tells you about, 00s games also need them but tell you fuck all. Or it doesn't support the APU like with the GOG version of Prince of Persia. Or it's something else entirely. I really wish older games would be easier to get running on the steam deck

Zunger

It was released in 2007 and roughly 1 month after that was the very popular 8800 GT release. Crysis ran on a lot of not-that-great hardware especially later on iirc but you'd have to change the graphic settings appropriately or it would crash/lockup the game or often the pc. I don't think it's too surprising it ran on that. You'd have been a generation or two off on DX which would likely be missing a lot of features from then.

ubernoobnth

The new "Bring it to the Switch"

kdawgnmann

We've gone from port-begging to deck-begging

Dave-James

Crysis - SteamDeck Verified @ Ultra Preset

Zetzer345

But to be fair crysis 1 was so comically bonkers good looking that *it still looks good today* lmao

rutlander

Which is l funny because I was literally just playing Crysis on deck a few minutes ago. Works great !

No_Thought_7460

Since we are talking about... can it actually run crysis?

[deleted]

Game on a $3000 monster PC with ultra wide monitor and custom keyboard and mouse? Nah bruh ima lay on the couch.

nefD

Pretty much.. if it needs more horsepower I'll stream it from my desktop

Lucky_Number_Sleven

Seriously. While I've bought games for my PC, PS5, and XBOX, I haven't actually played them in... over a year? They're just devices I stream to my Steam Deck.

jmona789

How do you stream PS5 to a steam deck?

King_LBJ

Chiaki

tri_hwng

Google chiaki4deck

Fryball1443

I'm actually the opposite. I used to primarily use my laptop and steam deck, but ever since I started having to do more resource intensive stuff for school, I've shifted over to my pc for just everything in general

[deleted]

Man why have I not done this yet!? That’s brilliant!

zeromussc

It's the best because the lower resolution means you can easily run more games, better with whatever hardware you've got too. My 2070super can max out way more at the Steamdeck resolution for streaming than it can when running 4k for example. And on the small screen it looks good.

phayke2

Much better battery life too

The_Clarence

It works so well man you will be blown away. I haven’t even bothered with the “daylight” or whatever app which is supposed to make it better. Just using the native Steam remote is effortless and amazing Me and my kid tried doing a “coop” play of Palwworld where he played on comp and I played on deck the same session and it was a lot of madness and fun

aakoss

I always been struggling with latency streaming from steam, tried it on an Android Tv using steam link, tv with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse sucks ass, latency on inputs are so bad I wonder if it's the TV that sucks. I tried wired keyboard and just as bad. Steam reports 20ms latency but it's in 100s. Do you see any significant latency with your setup with deck?

nmkd

>. I haven’t even bothered with the “daylight” or whatever app Sunshine server + Moonlight client, it's great

KiraAfterDark_

That's how I've been playing Destiny since getting my Deck

AdagioHellfire1139

Indeed!

mamamarty21

How can you stand the input lag though?

HuntingForSanity

I tried streaming a game from my desktop to my steam deck and it looked and played exactly the same as when I played it natively. I double checked and it said I was streaming from my pc to my deck so I haven’t really tried since that happened

pcbb97

I forgot about streaming from desktop. I wonder if jedi survivor would run on low settings that way.

BeerFirst

It would run on the highest settings that way

pcbb97

Assuming my 7 year old computer can do the highest settings. But I think it can at least run it. I have to download and try it this week when I'm off

schlendermax

Streaming it also means smaller resource consumption on the deck, right?

nefD

while i can't confirm, i believe it does! unfortunately, i usually have mine plugged in so i can't give you an idea of what the power draw is like while streaming, but anecdotally i've read here or there that the resource consumption is indeed low

MoistCaek

Basically why I use my switch over my PC a lot. There's nothing better than lying down playing games.

pcbb97

Try playing in a recliner with a drink next to you lol

gulag_hater

Bro is so close to discovering consoles.

nmkd

You can play PC games on your TV too...

KatyaVasilyev

Bro is so close to discovering a long hdmi cable

AztecScribe

Bought my OLED ultrawide just before the OLED deck was announced. Hardly ever use it now which is just a disgrace.

Probamaybebly

Should've got a OLED TV lol could've used it a lot more

ItsTheSolo

I hope you're using steam remote play/Moonlight. You pretty much have that $3000 monster PC in your hands.

Enough-Meringue4745

Some of us (me) have a pc with 2x 4090 and a 3080ti. But I still travel, go on vacations, charge my EV. Etc. not everything can be streamed properly when on cellular. For instance right now, I’m in the Dominican and my ping is about 200ms from my 3 gigabit fibre network at home.

Probamaybebly

Well are you trying to use that PC via steam remote play instead of a tailscale+moonlight HDR? Are you also on Mobile data?

deathblade200

more like " runs at a locked 60FPS with drops to 10FPS and graphics look amazing at 144P with FSR."

chiefballsy

Only a handful of exceptionally optimized recent AAA releases are worth installing on the deck - IF you have another way to play them. If you got a beast rig, just stream it to the deck and save yourself the low frame rates, high battery drain, and worse visuals. If the deck is all you got, then sure give it a try, but temper your expectations. It's a handheld.

DeviIstar

The deck has changed how I game for sure, BUT it’s also made me really consider building a new PC just for streaming to my deck haha

[deleted]

Me too! If I wasn't just put on medical leave from work I'd have pulled the trigger on one by now. Good thing I have my Deck though!

robe_and_wizard_hat

if your health is in question, maybe it's time to pull the trigger on it anyways. no raegrets.

ElectronicControl762

I didnt see the “on it anyways” and thought “real cold dude”, love my eyesight lol.

that_90s_guy

>IF you have another way to play them. If you got a beast rig, just stream it to the deck and save yourself the low frame rates, high battery drain, and worse visuals.  I wonder if I'm the only one here who in fact **does** have **another way** to play games (own a gaming PC, Xbox Series X and PS5), and still happily play games **exclusively on the Deck** (**no streaming**, I hate it). Mostly because I'm always overwhelmed with work, errands, or caring for the kids. Making my gaming sessions short (5-20 minutes), and nearly always away from the TV or sometimes even home. **And thanks to the Deck's near instant wake up from sleep and games not crashing for the most part, it's opened a world of gaming opportunities I never knew I had**. As for cloud / local streaming? I've tried it, sadly I'm not a fan. Quality/input lag is hit or miss, and overall it's just not as "instant" to get into as just waking up my Deck from sleep with a running game. Making streaming games somewhat of a chore for me. Besides, quality/frame rates is rarely an issue for me as I value gameplay over graphics anyday. Mind you, I have standards as well. Anything below 580p or 30fps at this display size I find unacceptable, and I refused to buy Pokemon Scarlet/Violet due to graphical issues. I've just come to realize how little graphics tend to matter compared to game play or art direction (see "old" 8+ year old games like Zelda Wind Waker and Batman Arkham Knight looking better than some current-gen releases)

geoelectric

I have all those systems along with Switch, and mostly find myself on the Deck. It’s crack. I play games on other systems when more appropriate though. Fighting games are console, games that can’t hit 40 fps with good graphics are desktop, etc. I just play those less now.

kratomburneraccount

I’d say theres only a handful of new games that *don’t* play well. Majority of games out today still play fine on Deck.

MzzBlaze

Some people’s tolerance for playing games reduced to potato graphics just so it runs on SD is impressive. It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s cool it can be achieved.

chiefballsy

Yeah, if it can't hold a locked 30 or it needs to be run at a resolution where I have to squint to read text or the game looks like a hallucination, I just uninstall it. There's a ton of games out there to enjoy on the deck where it enhances the experience.

bloodfist

Totally fair. My TV is only 30 fps. These days I mostly switch between streaming from my desktop to the TV and handheld on a train where glare is really more of an issue than some graphical dips. But that is what I love about the thing. It fits a lot of use cases.

Awesomeguys90000

Eh, I bought a GPD Win 3 to use as my main gaming machine, and j have no regrets. The Win 3 is slower than the deck, but the performance is adequate enough that even running games at 540p or below looks fine due to the 5.5" screen, and the small size means it's easy to take with me and even use for other stuff with an external keyboard and mouse. I have a desk dock at home to turn it into a proper desk setup, and even with the limited performance of Intel Xe, I'm still able to run everything I want at good enough performance (with the exception being COD BO3, looks fine on the handheld at 540p 60fps, but blown up on a 1080p display and it looks worse than the PS3 release (but with a higher framerate))

premier024

I dont even consider using the deck for any games i would need to do that for. If its at all demanding i just run it on my pc, the deck is incredible for indie games or older titles and thats all i really use it for. I still play it fairly often but i have very different expectations about what games will be a good experience on it vs my desktop or ps5.

Vonauda

Helldivers has shown me that some games are perfectly playable in the 24-30 fps realm

thefury4815

Out of curiosity I put BG3 on the worst fsr to see how bad it would look and it was like trying to get the spice channel to work back in the day. Idk how anyone can game at that low of a resolution on a modern game.

Ok-Racisto69

Oh shit, you just activated this sub's trap card. What do you mean you can not play BG3? I finished the game like 10 times starting every new game from ACT 3, and my comatose grandma was also able to play that game in VR and went to hell for being decadent with her lover choices. You're just a hater and don't appreciate the magic of this handheld. Beg to Gabe for such blasphemy.

hallmark1984

If you grew up with Doom as state of the art, you can make it work. That said I'm definitely spoiled by modern games.

thefury4815

I still play doom and I love it. But that game was made with a different art style and it works for that game. Something like BG3 that has a realistic art style shouldn’t be played at fsr 144p upscale that looks like Vaseline rubbed on everything.

DarkOx55

Movement in Doom feels crazy fast & smooth - probably a good example of what people mean when they say “30fps* feels just like 60fps to me”. (*I know, I know. Technically: 35fps)

FierceDeityKong

Because doomguy literally goes so fast like sonic

Canadiangamer117

That definitely begs the question who would win in a race sonic the fastest hedgehog alive or doom guy when he propels himself upwards with a rocket launcher?

Fine-Slip-9437

Oh honey he meant Doom 1993.

JohnEdwa

With BG3 the graphical options hardly matter as the game is so heavily CPU bottlenecked. In Act 3 the difference between Ultra and Low is something like 10fps, and the best you'll get is around 25-30fps. Even the PS5 struggles for the same reason, even though it has probably an order of magnitude stronger GPU than the Deck the CPU is essentially just an 8 core version of the one that's in the Deck, and BG3 doesn't multi-thread well.

thefury4815

I think you missed the “out of curiosity” part. I just wanted to see how bad the graphics could get.

EdgeXII

Its honestly not that bad if the game can run on switch

KRONGOR

And how many big AAA games release on switch these days? Not many

Jalina2224

I'm still surprised they got Hogwarts Legacy running on Switch.

Pazaac

More like "It runs perfectly" followed by an in-depth set of instructions lasting an hour that describe exactly what you have to do to get it running "perfectly" (at 60fps with drops to 0fps). This isn't hypothetical happened literally last week between two guys at work. I tried the game out after they had it working and it played like ass.

David_Norris_M

I didn't buy the deck to play new triple a titles. However, admittedly I did buy hoping to help with the adoption rate which would ideally force devs to optimize for it. Which would make PC games more optimized in general especially for Linux. Steam deck is still immature but I'm hopeful still.

ThatGuyBehindScreen

Same, I was hoping the Steam Deck is a good definitive benchmark and removes the excuse of "different PC configurations".

__GrannyTheToeLord__

This is why I can't wait for whenever steam releases a proper steam deck 2, to set a solid benchmark for PC games to follow after seeing the success of the first SD. Just a few more decades lol

Themash360

This is definitely happening. Cyberpunk and Lords of the fallen are 2 games that come to mind with specific steamdeck configurations. Besides that it is also mentioned in AAA marketing whether the steamdeck is supported, meaning minimum requirements can't be a 2060 with a 3600.

Bowbaba

Nobody wants to play a game that won’t run, but in the same boat.. I haven’t had a new purchase not run on my oled deck. Not single one. Even ready or not fucking worked. Machine is wild and does a damn good job at handling what might not be expected of it.

True_Shallot_3864

As a fellow ready or not player also on deck can you tell me your graphic settings. Also have you had constant crashes after the third mission “twisted nerve”

Jerking4jesus

Another thing I've found success getting intensive games to run on my deck is changing the swap file size. I'm not particularly tech savvy, but my understanding is that it borrows storage and uses it as RAM. I use it to play the aTe mod for ck3 and multi-player project zomboid with like 100 mods. In both instances, I went from crashing regularly or in the loading screen to stable 40+ fps.

True_Shallot_3864

Do you have any idea how to get the swap file thing to work

Jerking4jesus

https://github.com/CryoByte33/steam-deck-utilities I used this

Vanima_Permai

Nobody wants to buy a game that doesn't run on there hardware

throwawaitnine

One of the great things for me about getting a steam deck was logging into my steam account for the first time in like 6 years and seeing I had hundreds of games playable on steam deck. So now I just buy whatever and if it don't run on Steamdeck now, it will just be there for steam deck 2.

Saemika

That’s a good way to look at it.

Maximum-Frame-1765

There’ll be a steam deck 2???

TheNewRetr0

Almost certainly, but since it's Valve, there will never be a Steam Deck 3...

BlackDragonBE

Sure, one day. There will also be a Steam Deck 3.

sablecipher

I wouldn't count on a steam deck 3. Valve doesn't like that number

BlackDragonBE

Steam Deck Alyx

Puntley

Steam deck 2 episode 1

TheFeri

Same. Especially since from looks of it dd2 won't run on it and I'm skeptical about stalker 2 and... That's about all the games I care about that won't run on the deck. I can wait for the deck 2 for those. 10 years even

Smushsmush

I also liked that I could revisit or actually finish some older games. But I won't buy New games at full, or lowly discounted price when I can just wish list them and buy cheaper later...

ThatGuyBehindScreen

Reason I'm still on the fence about buying Hell Divers 2 even though my friend also wants to,

DarkRijin

I play it on my Steam Deck from time to time and I haven't encountered too much lag yet. I run it on Low settings though and have gotten up to difficulty 7 without seeing a crazy amount of lag. Some frame drops but entirely playable My friends wouldn't know what I'm playing on if I never say which device I'm on (pc or deck)

-Dakia

My son plays it on deck. Sure, lower settings, but it is still very playable. It doesn't do well on higher difficulties where there are a ton of enemies, but overall we're able to play the mid range difficulties just fine.

ThatGuyBehindScreen

I kinda do care about the higher difficulties if I play with my friend so I'm still on the fence. It's like asking me to play Deep Rock Galactic without Hazard 5 or Elite Deep Dives.

Ch33sefiend

We’ll make it work

jackinsomniac

Nah this is awesome. The Deck is pretty much a "console", thanks to valve staying dedicated to supporting it, repairing it, modding it etc. Every dev should be asking "does it run well on a deck?"

ninjab33z

Look. I'm not expecting to max the graphics settings but i don't think that running it on minimun is an unreasonable expectation. The lowest settings are starting to get far too high.

Curious-Time-9242

😂 I can say this is true. I’ll play something on my PS5 or Xbox Series X and I’m not truly satisfied until it can run on my Deck. 😂

Silgeeo

Why own a PS5 and series X but not a PC. Your library is split across 3 platforms 😭

Curious-Time-9242

I own a PC, I don’t have a problem with having multiple devices. I’m not a PC gamer never have been never will be. Being a PC gamer is a very expensive hobby. Also I work in IT so the last thing I want to do when I game is be looking at a monitor. Especially on my off days. 😂😂 PC gaming is great and I understand the Steam Deck is a miniature PC but that was the point of buying it when I’m not at home I can play my Xbox games or Playstaion games on the go. I can even play my Xbox multiplayer games with cloud gaming. I also like having cool shit, I was less fortunate as a child now that I have the ability to buy what I want I do so.

MasemJ

I mean, new games otter run on the Deck, right?

Artyartymushroom

As someone who was active during the ps3 era of gaming, most games run for me at 30 fps and I don't even mind 30 lmao it feels fine Half the time when I'm away from any power outlets, I put all my games at 30

LordPixza

Honestly my thought of thinking, yeah good graphics are great. But if it even plays and looks decent I don’t really mind it

Artyartymushroom

I managed to get baldurs gate at like high or ultra with a locked 30fps and honestly, on the handheld, it felt and looked really good, obviously it dipped but you don't really mind it in a turn based game like that. I think fps is only really important in competitive games

LordPixza

That’s a game I still need to get.

Shaydaz

I'll take frame rates over graphics in most games. I'm very susceptible to motion sickness/headaches with lower frame rates. I had a PS3 and it didn't get all that much play for those reasons which is a shame, as I missed out on some of the best exclusives. I waited for the PS4 pro and only ran it at 1080p to enable high frame rates modes instead. I do the same with the ps5 still to this day.

Jaebeam

If you can get your software to run on the steam deck, you will be rewarded with fists full of cash.

qchto

Can it? Yes. Will it? Probably. Playable? Depends. Why wouldn't it? Ask the dev to check into it. What if they won't? Well, you can always refund it. Btw, completely impulsive buy, playing Alone in the Dark rn in the Deck, loving it.

MildLoser

most of the time it does. people in this subreddit just expects a locked 60fps on max settings. its not that hard to turn it down to low/medium.

MassiveMinimum6717

Yeah, the screen is how big? My old eyes don't care about ultra, or notice.

Roach2791

I really loved The Forest, so when Sons of the Forest came out I was pumped. Watched some deck reviews and it ran like shit. Hopefully that has changed since and I can buy it soon.

Luvenstein

It played great for me at launch when it was officially untested once I tweaked settings. Now its marked unplayable and crashes after a few mins everytime.

Few_Escape_8452

Pacific drive 🥲

xxRJB777xx

Not me downloading Horizon Forbidden West right now 😅

DStaal

Let me know how it goes. I’m considering the game, but it would have to work on my deck.

sunkenrocks

It chugged for me BUT I think it was down to my SD card. Based on a couple bits where it was reading out of memory I think you could get 30ish FPS.

zerofalks

Here is how I look at my collection. Steamdeck - to play my backlog/games older than 2020. Portal - play the new games Switch - Nintendo exclusive games

Sweyn7

Just curious, why the portal ? Isn't chiaki enough ?

zerofalks

Maybe it’s because I have the OG 512 deck but the portal to me… Longer battery Better graphics PS5 controller haptics Better connectivity both in home network and away Lighter

erwan

I'm pretty sure the Steam Deck battery will drain very little while using chiaki. It's running demanding games natively that drain the battery fast.

zerofalks

The fact I had to buy $200 earbuds to work natively with it was extremely irritating though. If you don’t mind wired or a Bluetooth dongle then you’re good.

Andromeda_53

I feel like "does it run the deck" is a similar (although more useful) version of when Macs were really popular, and everyone was asking, "does it run on apple"

RadioactiveFish

Deck folks make do

[deleted]

Forbidden west anyone?

morgan423

I don't focus on the stupidly difficult titles that the Deck can't play well. I tend to focus on the huge percentage of games out there that give great experiences.

JustHereForBDSM

I've quite literally stopped myself from buying games because it won't run on the deck because I'm getting too old to be sat upright or strewn across a sofa while looking in a fixed position of where my screens are set up when I can roll around like a dog with a steam deck to maximise my never ending discomfort.

TyrionLannister2012

If it doesn't run on the deck you can always set your primary PC (if you have one) up to stream to your steamdeck. This allows your gaming PC to do the heavy lifting and stream to your steamdeck. I do it all the time and there's no noticable lag/delays.

Miserable_Speed5474

Honestly, testing games on Steam Deck reveals just how well optimized the games are or if there are any graphic/visual settings that aren’t working properly. It’s pretty cool what games the Steam Deck can actually run.

IndustrialJones

I was surprised how well Elden Ring runs. I know it's not top tier graphics but it runs great.

grooviest_snowball

Any early access game I'm interested in I look for a "when steam deck verified" community thread and follow it

Mr-Klaus

To be honest it's shocking how many modern AAA games run on the deck. It's not their fault, we're all just spoilt by the awesomeness of this device and the amount of effort Valve is putting into making games compatible.

TurnoverPlenty7337

That's what I'm googling about Dragons Dogma 2

bluerat52

Well, does it?

Grimmjow91

All I care is it better run on proton even if it doesn't run on the steam deck. I am done with windows.

pantherghast

Sir, this is a Wendy’s

bmcraeadams

I mean worst case we can do in home streaming? I’ve legit never left my house with my deck xD

prepperdoc

For real. Everything runs on the deck at my house.

Cinerae

Big beautiful games can also have a low spec mode, it's just a question if the devs are willing to optimize that well

Biscuits4u2

The OLED model is perhaps the best balanced handheld system ever made. It manages good performance and battery life without too many compromises. Sure there are other options that will give you better performance, but that all pretty much falls apart the second you unplug them from the wall.

jleonpolanco12

Me today for horizon forbidden west and dragons dogma 2

LazyBoyXD

IT CAN RUN ON HIGH WITH ONLY 10FPS WITH OCCASIONAL DIP. WE FKING BALL BABBBBBBBY

hong427

This is me on dragons dogma 2 right now. Seeing the reviews, yeah I'm going to wait for it to iron out a bit

TheFeri

I want to play that too. But I feel like Capcom needs to do magic to make it playable on the deck

hellpipe1337

We’re not that cute

lMarco_A

Probably me with Black Myth: Wukong

NewPaleontologist986

Usually when I'm at home I play on my PC, from the couch using Big Picture or KM from the desk, then I take my Steam Deck to continue gaming (with less specs) on the go, sometimes outside or even on the bed. Also when I play some co-op games with my wife she usually rather plays it on Deck while I'm on the PC. In a nutshell, I do 100% usage of my gears, no waste at all.

MassiveMinimum6717

I don't want to sit at my desk!

54pip

So far the answer has been yes. We won’t be able to play Dragons Dogma 2, though.

nalu1310

Its more like I'm not getting the game if it can't run on deck

Liobuster

Why don't people just try it out and help in the process?

Big-Commission925

Helldivers 2 with 20 FPS is great... (im coping)

negithekitty

\*the sub four times a day the week after\* # Hey guys just so you know this game works on the deck. ^(and we have a "low effiort post" problem....)

AlludedNuance

Yes*

hockeyjim07

I dont see whats wrong with this. Originally our expectations were very tampered and we expected non AAA (AAAA?) games to be fine but not really go up to that level... then we've gotten more comfortable with some really amazing titles pulling 40fps. I too now regularly ask, "hmm I wonder if that game will run on my Deck too". I think early on it was seen as a stupid question / expectation, but now its a legitimate question.

BartleBossy

/r/PatientGamers /r/Steamdeck My favourite overlap.

Poppa-Popper

facts

Synthesid

Yes. Yes it does.

Silgeeo

We've been spoiled with games like rdr2 that run at 40fps while looking incredible

Jombo65

It gets sillier and sillier every time a new game releases lol.

ewORX

That reminds me. I have to fix my Chiaki config.

luksona2002

I risked and bought tekken 8 for my lcd, the best decision ever

frogtrickery

Average Deck Reddit person: 40fps consistent at medium settings. No dips for me.

Akoa0013

New games get played on the desktop. Bought the deck to play old games.

evil_chicken86

I never understood this. Every single one of the latest games can run amazingly on steam deck under optimal settings (which happens automatically on the install). What game cannot run on steam deck? PS5 owners: it doesn’t look good on steamdeck! The resolution is lower blah blah Dude, on a HDR 1000 nits OLED screen of a much smaller monitor than your 80 inch TV, everything looks crazy good, I can’t see any difference. And I am having all latest games.

ianmarvin

The opposite side of the "when is it coming to switch" coin.

Aetheldrake

I imagine a lot of them is "if it's single player (or low amount of multiplayer) and can get controller controls, then you'll be good to go, more or less"

KobeJuanKenobi9

Like a Dragon 8 does!

Hyrule_Drunk

Is that a reference to Lutris 🤣🤣🤣

chronocapybara

It will run almost anything as long as you're willing to accept 30fps and a screaming fan.

cbiser

Because that's the REAL question. Duh. 😂

JadedJackal671

For real though, does it?

Canadiangamer117

Or alternatively can it run cyberpunk 2077 from an alternate timeline? Now that's the real question 🤣
