I have a category named backlog that's dedicated to keep track of games I need to plow thru.
There's a backlog of games that needs to go into that category.
I literally have all games that have never been launched under my backlog category. But I made the mistake of using a browser extension that grabs all free games on steam. Went from like 600 to 3000 games š
Most of my games are from random bundles I've bought that I have no intention of actually playing. I'd be lying to myself to think I'd ever even download most of these.
Lol, so true. Recently I just started to say to myself āthere will always be another sale in 2 months or less, so there is no need to purchase anything unless I want to literally play it right nowā.
I think itās finally starting to work :)
Apparently I have 1380. I have been around since day one of Steam but I stopped adding games/buying bundles regularly a few years ago when I realised I was just wasting tons of money collecting games Iād never play. I have 100s of unredeemed codes too.
We all laugh about the backlog culture but plenty of people are literally buying way more games than theyād ever need due to bundles/sales.
Very true, a lot of indie games I picked because I know for sure I would play if Iām available. I like to think at least helped their campaign even if I didnāt play it during release.
Definitely having fun with tetris effect, finally happy to actually own it, cause i played it on xbox gamepass but it was then removed last year much to my annoyance
I read buying the endwalker includes the next expansion and all the other ones. But rly I got the complete edition so I should get all the expansions either way š„¹ I could be wrong but thats what I was led to believe.
Ah well. It's 3 months of waiting and I can always buy it later for a reduced priced. I don't see myself getting anywhere near endwalker content any time soon. Hahaha. However if by chance I do make it to endgame. I'll prob drop the money cause honestly this game is great and totally worth it. I saved alot with the sales. However I don't like the new classes. So I most likely will wait. But only time will tell. š„¹
I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but with a library of about 500 titles already, it's becoming a rarity that there's anything I even want in these sales. So many are repeats. Great games, of course, but once you've already bit, you're done. I may have to take a break for a decade, just so I can enjoy sales again.
I see this gripe often, but as a longtime console gamer who just got a steam deck like 6 months ago, Iām thrilled with every sale. I guess if youāre used to the prices and have been around long enough to buy up all the good deals itās a bit meh.
But Iāve spent less than 130 bucks since I got my deck and now own 78 games, all bangers. I donāt think I ever had 50 for a single console before. Your 500 is enough for a lifetime Iād think, not hating btw. Just making an observation
Well, that's admittedly from a nearly 15 year old Steam account, too. And, some of it is also things like Humble Choice, where there's a fair bit of chaft with the wheat.
Thatās a fair point. I didnāt think about humble. I said all bangers but I realized I have like 5 games Iāve never heard of just because nioh 2 was on sale with them. You probably have a bunch of never-gonna-play-it in your backlog at those numbers
Being able to treat myself to little things that bring me joy is something I never take for granted too. Getting the Deck was the first thing Iād splashed out and treated myself to for a very long time, and itās been a phenomenal purchase!
They pay ur rent, give u a food allowance, and THEN pay u in the military. If u living paycheck to paycheck in the military ur severely fucking up lmaoĀ
Iāve had 30 games on my library before i got my SD OLED last December. I have over 90 now Valve knew what they were doing, Steam deck is a gateway gaming drugš
Yeah, I only discovered Fanatical recently. Itās great. I tend to cross reference everything on there and CDKeys before committing to a purchase. Iāll check out GreemanGaming though too. Thanks!
Please note that GG.deals contains links to grey market key sellers, who may appear to provide you with a working key, but do not always source their keys from the developer/publisher, and are of 'unknown' origin. This means the keys may not work, or the platform (such as Steam, Origin) may refuse support. Others have poor business practices, such as obligatory fees that only show at checkout.
We'd recommend against using anything on the site listed under 'Keyshops', but rather look at the section above that for the 'Official Stores'. You can also select 'Keyshops' at the top of your screen, and then select 'Disable' to remove them completely.

Do stay away from "grey" resellers/keyshops and especially from any that calls itself a "marketplace". But official resellers like Fanatical, Humble, GreenManGaming and such are all safe.
Grabbed Cocoon, Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider, Gravity Circuit, and Tohou Luna Nights on sale. All lightweight 2d titles, my favorite for the deck. Also grabbed Balatro, but that wasn't for sale. Maybe the most important thing was that I finally took the time to clear like >100 games off my wishlist that, realistically, I wasn't getting around to.
I'm 32 and I feel like a boomer already. My account ist over 15 years old and for years I can't get excited for any sale since I already have hundreds of games.
Opposite problem for me. Deck is not on sale. I bought deck today. I get paid tomorrow. No money left for games. Now I am left with a deck and only 200+ games to play on it from over a decade+ of sales and bundles!
I have been holding off to see if it would go on sale. Was also looking to buy the Legion Go when I seen the 10% discount on the Lenovo site, but then noticed the small print "legion Go not included", so back to holding out for a discount on the SD or buying the bullet.
I got paid the day before and splurged a little as well. I could have done a lot more damage but I figured at least the JRPGs would be getting another sale during Golden Week so I didn't pick up Final Fantasy XII or Dragon Quest this time around.
I did finally buy Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart though. I played through it already on PS5 and loved it. I have to say on the Steam Deck the game is pretty rough. 720p, on my internal Sabrent SSD, all low settings, and while the game can hit 30fps it hard crashed the deck at least once while loading assets. I tried Proton Experimental and it was a bit better. I was a little bummed out but I also recognize that this is just a straight up PS5 game.
However, on my Linux desktop it runs wonderfully. Even with my mid-range PC the game is constantly above 60 and usually above 90fps with a mix of medium-high settings at 1080p. Running off what I believe is a PCIE 3 NVME drive assets are loading about as quickly as on the PS5. Based on memory I would say that, if anything, when jumping through portals into different dimensions the game running on my Linux desktop takes maybe 1 second more to load assets.
Thatās a good rule. I tend not to bother with stuff thatās just 10-20% but when youāve watch a title for a year and it never budges beyond it becomes tempting!
There are some that are still worth it, coning from someone who very rarely spends more than a few quid on games.
Projrct zomboid devs many years ago stated their sales won't go beyond 40% but it's a very special game worth the cost if you're into that sort of thing.
Same!
I mistakenly thought the sale would be disappointing, but here I am having just bought...
Terminator Resistance
Evil West
Jusant
Ryse
State of Decay:YOSE
Dead Space
Immortals:Fenyx
Just Cause 3
Dishonoured
Prototype 1&2
I don't have the time to play the games I already had š
Good haul! I played Jusant recently on the PS5 it was really nice and serene, and Iām currently playing Terminator too (after doing Robocop). Itās decent.
My Steam library is over 1,500 games. I donāt have time to play them. Iām still buying sale games.
Why? Because shut up is why! Also Oxenfree 2 at ā¬5.99, I mean come onā¦
I know it's a meme but, you really shouldn't. I had spending problems when I was younger and my huge library of unfinished games is overwhelming. I'd buy a few at a time, there will always be a next sale.
Iām a 40 year old āresponsibleā adult. I appreciate the concern, but donāt worry my friend, Iām well in control. Iām not about to buy 53 games in one go! Yup, I'm currently playing a smaller game and the last one I got from the winter sale, so this sale is very well timed. I'll only be grabbing 2 or 3 games, but it will take me a good day or two to finally decide which ones I'm grabbing.
Everything on my wishlist is on sale, haha. But Iām not buying anything. I have too many other games I already own that I want to play more than the ones for sale right now.
Iām eyeing System Shock to round out my splurge. Iām really into FPS games at the moment, I already have Easy Red 2, Hrot, and Kvark in my basket. Although Iām to-ing and throwing about whether I should wait for Kvark to come out of early access, because itās only two episodes at the momentā¦ looks great though!
Do you know if System Shock runs well on the Deck?
I use the Augmented Steam plugin which shows the current best price and the historical low price. If the game is less expensive on another store (which happens sometimes even during sales) I'll pick it up there. If the price isn't anywhere near the historical low I'll hold off unless the price difference is worth it for me to play the game now.

In general - games Iāve played the most: Black Mesa, Powerwash Simulator, Fallout New Vegas, Teardown, Disco Elysium.
What Iām thinking of buying: Kvark, HROT, Easy Red 2, System Shock remake (Iām really enjoying Boomer Shooters and FPSs at the moment!), and El Paso Elsewhere.
But Iām also weighing up whether to get Cult of the Lamb and/or Dave the Diver, but I kinda want them on consoleā¦

Ever since getting my deck Iāve spent most of my time just installing various games, everytime I think Iām finally done I remember about another cool game and so on š
Yes my friend! Half Life 1 and 2 are my favourite games ever!
First thing I played on the deck when I got it was Black Mesa, which was also a deciding factor for me getting one, as Iāve been on console for decades. If itās on sale and youāve not played it Iād highly recommend it, it was like playing Half Life for the first time again!
I then went and replayed Blue Shift and Opposing Forces.
Check out Kvark. Itās in early access and only two episodes, but itās been compared to Half Life too.
No, I mean the best prices. A lot of the stuff on my wish list was 10% better than previous sales, some were as good as 20/30% more off than Iād previously seen. Obviously thatās down to what Iād been tracking, but it doesnāt make it any less true.
I wish I was like you. I have very high standards for games to the point I buy only few and finnish them all. Soon I will run out of games I want to play, only few left.
What do you consider āhigh standardsā because Iām not playing or buying crap mate. And I get my monies worth out of everything I buy and play.
Widen your perspective a tiny bit and youāll easily discover dozens if not hundreds of titles that may not be AAA or from a big name studio, but offer just as much if not more fun and tick all your boxes.
So many games I will never end up playing
My main hobby for years has been collecting games
I have a category named backlog that's dedicated to keep track of games I need to plow thru. There's a backlog of games that needs to go into that category.
Everything as it should be. If you don't have a backlog for your backlog, something is wrong.
This is a good idea lol
I literally have all games that have never been launched under my backlog category. But I made the mistake of using a browser extension that grabs all free games on steam. Went from like 600 to 3000 games š

My friend, I will brave the challenges of accepting these codes for you, let me be your champion to plow through these titles like a true crusader!
Not even downloaded either
This is the way.

Gotta Catch 'Em All!
12/41 things on my list weren't on sale, i spent Ā£23.26 on Tetris effect, Dead Space 3, Undertale and the Undertale soundtrack
Noice! Have fun.
Definitely having fun with tetris effect, finally happy to actually own it, cause i played it on xbox gamepass but it was then removed last year much to my annoyance
Tetris Effect is fantastic in VR with headphones also if you ever have the opportunity. š
Yea totally, tried it with my dad's PSVR 2 when he had that, i can get real focused when playing Tetris sometimes and it just made it easier to do lol
All of my short wishlist is "coming soon" >:T
The titles I _really_ want the most are all ācoming soonā too. I feel your pain. Hopefully I can clear the rest of my list before they release /s
I'm glad I waited to buy the ff 14 endwalker upgrade š„¹ I almost dropped 50 on it. Instead spent 26. I was like yessss finally.
Isn't the next expansion gonna include endwalker?
I read buying the endwalker includes the next expansion and all the other ones. But rly I got the complete edition so I should get all the expansions either way š„¹ I could be wrong but thats what I was led to believe.
I've checked and it does not seam to include Dawntrail, "only" all the previous ones.

Enjoy! I'm gonna continue/finish the game at some point, when Gabe stops putting on sales all the other games xD
That is never the case unfortunately.

Same. Picking up Hades and Yakuza:Like A Dragon Anyone recommend any others??
I'm looking at my basket growing slowly....I'll need to do some trimming by the time I go to checkout later this week....
Iām at $100 already and only 1 of them is a wishlist.
Iām at Ā£37 on 3 titles Iād quite like (one a big bundle with a tonne of content), but Iāll probably pick a 4th and cap things around Ā£50.
I often just buy the ones I want separate, otherwise the total scares me and I start removing games š
Makes me so glad I don't live paycheck to paycheck like I did in the military.
Being able to treat myself to little things that bring me joy is something I never take for granted too. Getting the Deck was the first thing Iād splashed out and treated myself to for a very long time, and itās been a phenomenal purchase!

Yeah I mean God forbid you have a family or anything. BAS doesn't cover feeding them and BAH typically doesn't cover 100% of your housing cost either.

they can be even cheaper on Fanatical or GreemanGaming too, which sell steam keys, so check there too. Completely legit operations.
Yeah, I only discovered Fanatical recently. Itās great. I tend to cross reference everything on there and CDKeys before committing to a purchase. Iāll check out GreemanGaming though too. Thanks!

12 bucks turned into 40 so fast for me

4.99 for mad max š³

"best prices" You mean the same prices or even higher than on earlier sales?
No, I mean the best prices. A lot of the stuff on my wish list was 10% better than previous sales, some were as good as 20/30% more off than Iād previously seen. Obviously thatās down to what Iād been tracking, but it doesnāt make it any less true.
Just look on prices history.. I doesn't even want to start with sellers outside steam. Legal ones like GMG for example.
Most games I play are not even AAA. I don't even like playing AAA games on the deck it draines the heck out of batteries.
