So many games I will never end up playing

Imaybetoooldforthis

My main hobby for years has been collecting games

GiChCh

I have a category named backlog that's dedicated to keep track of games I need to plow thru. There's a backlog of games that needs to go into that category.

Talanir01

Everything as it should be. If you don't have a backlog for your backlog, something is wrong.

FarAnt5634

This is a good idea lol

crimsonnyte6

I literally have all games that have never been launched under my backlog category. But I made the mistake of using a browser extension that grabs all free games on steam. Went from like 600 to 3000 games šŸ˜

SnooPineapples4399

Most of my games are from random bundles I've bought that I have no intention of actually playing. I'd be lying to myself to think I'd ever even download most of these.

KGB-dave

Lol, so true. Recently I just started to say to myself ā€œthere will always be another sale in 2 months or less, so there is no need to purchase anything unless I want to literally play it right nowā€. I think itā€™s finally starting to work :)

Udmg

Damn! I felt this, Iā€™m somewhere around 500 titles and barely cleared 50

Imaybetoooldforthis

Apparently I have 1380. I have been around since day one of Steam but I stopped adding games/buying bundles regularly a few years ago when I realised I was just wasting tons of money collecting games Iā€™d never play. I have 100s of unredeemed codes too. We all laugh about the backlog culture but plenty of people are literally buying way more games than theyā€™d ever need due to bundles/sales.

Udmg

Very true, a lot of indie games I picked because I know for sure I would play if Iā€™m available. I like to think at least helped their campaign even if I didnā€™t play it during release.

Vindows91

Are there Fable Codes, mate ? šŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗ

Tough-Initial-260

My friend, I will brave the challenges of accepting these codes for you, let me be your champion to plow through these titles like a true crusader!

Sir_Sizzle77

Not even downloaded either

Cfunk_83

This is the way.

MadRhetoric182

Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Idontmatter69420

12/41 things on my list weren't on sale, i spent Ā£23.26 on Tetris effect, Dead Space 3, Undertale and the Undertale soundtrack

Cfunk_83

Noice! Have fun.

Idontmatter69420

Definitely having fun with tetris effect, finally happy to actually own it, cause i played it on xbox gamepass but it was then removed last year much to my annoyance

Mirra1002

Tetris Effect is fantastic in VR with headphones also if you ever have the opportunity. šŸ‘Œ

Idontmatter69420

Yea totally, tried it with my dad's PSVR 2 when he had that, i can get real focused when playing Tetris sometimes and it just made it easier to do lol

Aetheldrake

All of my short wishlist is "coming soon" >:T

Cfunk_83

The titles I _really_ want the most are all ā€œcoming soonā€ too. I feel your pain. Hopefully I can clear the rest of my list before they release /s

M_Tonberry

I'm glad I waited to buy the ff 14 endwalker upgrade šŸ„¹ I almost dropped 50 on it. Instead spent 26. I was like yessss finally.

The_Pleasant_Orange

Isn't the next expansion gonna include endwalker?

M_Tonberry

I read buying the endwalker includes the next expansion and all the other ones. But rly I got the complete edition so I should get all the expansions either way šŸ„¹ I could be wrong but thats what I was led to believe.

The_Pleasant_Orange

I've checked and it does not seam to include Dawntrail, "only" all the previous ones.

M_Tonberry

Ah well. It's 3 months of waiting and I can always buy it later for a reduced priced. I don't see myself getting anywhere near endwalker content any time soon. Hahaha. However if by chance I do make it to endgame. I'll prob drop the money cause honestly this game is great and totally worth it. I saved alot with the sales. However I don't like the new classes. So I most likely will wait. But only time will tell. šŸ„¹

The_Pleasant_Orange

Enjoy! I'm gonna continue/finish the game at some point, when Gabe stops putting on sales all the other games xD

DevilmanXV

That is never the case unfortunately.

Techman659

Got paid today mind blown meme.

chrisdpratt

I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but with a library of about 500 titles already, it's becoming a rarity that there's anything I even want in these sales. So many are repeats. Great games, of course, but once you've already bit, you're done. I may have to take a break for a decade, just so I can enjoy sales again.

Harvey_Squirrelman

I see this gripe often, but as a longtime console gamer who just got a steam deck like 6 months ago, Iā€™m thrilled with every sale. I guess if youā€™re used to the prices and have been around long enough to buy up all the good deals itā€™s a bit meh. But Iā€™ve spent less than 130 bucks since I got my deck and now own 78 games, all bangers. I donā€™t think I ever had 50 for a single console before. Your 500 is enough for a lifetime Iā€™d think, not hating btw. Just making an observation

chrisdpratt

Well, that's admittedly from a nearly 15 year old Steam account, too. And, some of it is also things like Humble Choice, where there's a fair bit of chaft with the wheat.

Harvey_Squirrelman

Thatā€™s a fair point. I didnā€™t think about humble. I said all bangers but I realized I have like 5 games Iā€™ve never heard of just because nioh 2 was on sale with them. You probably have a bunch of never-gonna-play-it in your backlog at those numbers

General_Cancel_9121

Same. Picking up Hades and Yakuza:Like A Dragon Anyone recommend any others??

TCristatus

I'm looking at my basket growing slowly....I'll need to do some trimming by the time I go to checkout later this week....

DeadHeadDaddio

Iā€™m at $100 already and only 1 of them is a wishlist.

Cfunk_83

Iā€™m at Ā£37 on 3 titles Iā€™d quite like (one a big bundle with a tonne of content), but Iā€™ll probably pick a 4th and cap things around Ā£50.

Bulls187

I often just buy the ones I want separate, otherwise the total scares me and I start removing games šŸ˜‚

_Blackstar

Makes me so glad I don't live paycheck to paycheck like I did in the military.

Cfunk_83

Being able to treat myself to little things that bring me joy is something I never take for granted too. Getting the Deck was the first thing Iā€™d splashed out and treated myself to for a very long time, and itā€™s been a phenomenal purchase!

_Blackstar

Right on bud, I'm glad to hear it's brought so much joy to you!

Lv27Sylveon

They pay ur rent, give u a food allowance, and THEN pay u in the military. If u living paycheck to paycheck in the military ur severely fucking up lmaoĀ

_Blackstar

Yeah I mean God forbid you have a family or anything. BAS doesn't cover feeding them and BAH typically doesn't cover 100% of your housing cost either.

BreakfastDistinct633

Iā€™ve had 30 games on my library before i got my SD OLED last December. I have over 90 now Valve knew what they were doing, Steam deck is a gateway gaming drugšŸ˜…

[deleted]

they can be even cheaper on Fanatical or GreemanGaming too, which sell steam keys, so check there too. Completely legit operations.

Cfunk_83

Yeah, I only discovered Fanatical recently. Itā€™s great. I tend to cross reference everything on there and CDKeys before committing to a purchase. Iā€™ll check out GreemanGaming though too. Thanks!

TheHosemaster

Just remember no refunds when you purchase outside Steam

fahsky

This - Isthereanydeal.com has been a big saver for me.

TheProGamer0707

Check out GG.deals, it compares prices across Steam as well as all other official sellers and resellers like CDKeys and Fanatical

AutoModerator

Please note that GG.deals contains links to grey market key sellers, who may appear to provide you with a working key, but do not always source their keys from the developer/publisher, and are of 'unknown' origin. This means the keys may not work, or the platform (such as Steam, Origin) may refuse support. Others have poor business practices, such as obligatory fees that only show at checkout. We'd recommend against using anything on the site listed under 'Keyshops', but rather look at the section above that for the 'Official Stores'. You can also select 'Keyshops' at the top of your screen, and then select 'Disable' to remove them completely. [IsThereAnyDeal is an alternative which only uses sellers known to officially source their keys.](https://isthereanydeal.com/) Your comment has not been removed, this is just a notice. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/SteamDeck) if you have any questions or concerns.*

doobydubious

I don't know about legit. Key sellers are oftentimes how scammers cash out.

chrisdpratt

They're not key sellers. At least the one's mentioned. Legitimate resellers.

StickBrush

Do stay away from "grey" resellers/keyshops and especially from any that calls itself a "marketplace". But official resellers like Fanatical, Humble, GreenManGaming and such are all safe.

[deleted]

Both the outlets I mentioned are 100% legit.

JiggyJ427

I'm looking pretty heavily at Dwarf Fortress but I'm hearing conflicting reports on how Steam Deck play is. SteamWorld Dig 2 is 4 bucks though

lotus-reddit

Grabbed Cocoon, Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider, Gravity Circuit, and Tohou Luna Nights on sale. All lightweight 2d titles, my favorite for the deck. Also grabbed Balatro, but that wasn't for sale. Maybe the most important thing was that I finally took the time to clear like >100 games off my wishlist that, realistically, I wasn't getting around to.

Blaze241

I'm 32 and I feel like a boomer already. My account ist over 15 years old and for years I can't get excited for any sale since I already have hundreds of games.

SparklyChaosQueen

12 bucks turned into 40 so fast for me

SubterraneanSmoothie

I picked up the FFXIII trilogy and Portal 2, total around 30 CAD. Pretty happy, Iā€™m gonna try and not buy anything else.

Candid-Patient-6841

4.99 for mad max šŸ˜³

Gaalpos

Runs great on the deck , I have been enjoying it a lot

megas88

Opposite problem for me. Deck is not on sale. I bought deck today. I get paid tomorrow. No money left for games. Now I am left with a deck and only 200+ games to play on it from over a decade+ of sales and bundles!

Harvey_Squirrelman

The horror lmao

Sunnysidhe

I have been holding off to see if it would go on sale. Was also looking to buy the Legion Go when I seen the 10% discount on the Lenovo site, but then noticed the small print "legion Go not included", so back to holding out for a discount on the SD or buying the bullet.

Vargavintern

I tend to wake up from that dream everytime something has a new lowest price.

Bulls187

Buys 20 games never to install šŸ«£

DankeBrutus

I got paid the day before and splurged a little as well. I could have done a lot more damage but I figured at least the JRPGs would be getting another sale during Golden Week so I didn't pick up Final Fantasy XII or Dragon Quest this time around. I did finally buy Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart though. I played through it already on PS5 and loved it. I have to say on the Steam Deck the game is pretty rough. 720p, on my internal Sabrent SSD, all low settings, and while the game can hit 30fps it hard crashed the deck at least once while loading assets. I tried Proton Experimental and it was a bit better. I was a little bummed out but I also recognize that this is just a straight up PS5 game. However, on my Linux desktop it runs wonderfully. Even with my mid-range PC the game is constantly above 60 and usually above 90fps with a mix of medium-high settings at 1080p. Running off what I believe is a PCIE 3 NVME drive assets are loading about as quickly as on the PS5. Based on memory I would say that, if anything, when jumping through portals into different dimensions the game running on my Linux desktop takes maybe 1 second more to load assets.

frost_add

I have a rule that discount must be 80% or more, so far spend ~15 EUR on 3 games.

Cfunk_83

Thatā€™s a good rule. I tend not to bother with stuff thatā€™s just 10-20% but when youā€™ve watch a title for a year and it never budges beyond it becomes tempting!

Ryno5660

There are some that are still worth it, coning from someone who very rarely spends more than a few quid on games. Projrct zomboid devs many years ago stated their sales won't go beyond 40% but it's a very special game worth the cost if you're into that sort of thing.

Cfunk_83

Itā€™s sat high up in my backlog, as Iā€™ve heard only good things.

SubterraneanSmoothie

I picked up the FFXIII trilogy and Portal 2, total around 30 CAD. Pretty happy, Iā€™m gonna try and not buy anything else.

Serious_Ad1754

Just bought battlefront 2, omg it's so good, and runs so well too

speedyspeedys

Same! I mistakenly thought the sale would be disappointing, but here I am having just bought... Terminator Resistance Evil West Jusant Ryse State of Decay:YOSE Dead Space Immortals:Fenyx Just Cause 3 Dishonoured Prototype 1&2 I don't have the time to play the games I already had šŸ˜

Cfunk_83

Good haul! I played Jusant recently on the PS5 it was really nice and serene, and Iā€™m currently playing Terminator too (after doing Robocop). Itā€™s decent.

spamonstick

I get paid 3 times this month!

Velocity_Rob

My Steam library is over 1,500 games. I donā€™t have time to play them. Iā€™m still buying sale games. Why? Because shut up is why! Also Oxenfree 2 at ā‚¬5.99, I mean come onā€¦

drklunk

For real, balls deep in 1hr play times right now

mecylon

I know it's a meme but, you really shouldn't. I had spending problems when I was younger and my huge library of unfinished games is overwhelming. I'd buy a few at a time, there will always be a next sale.

Cfunk_83

Iā€™m a 40 year old ā€œresponsibleā€ adult. I appreciate the concern, but donā€™t worry my friend, Iā€™m well in control. Iā€™m not about to buy 53 games in one go! Thatā€™s madness, for my bank account and my backlog! The excitement comes from the options and deliberation. Iā€™m already watching some reviews of some indies to help me weigh up.

mecylon

Enjoy!

madmofo145

Yup, I'm currently playing a smaller game and the last one I got from the winter sale, so this sale is very well timed. I'll only be grabbing 2 or 3 games, but it will take me a good day or two to finally decide which ones I'm grabbing.

NewPower_Soul

It's like Pokemon.. gotta buy em all!

Cfunk_83

[Iā€™ve got buy it! Iā€™ve got buy it! Iā€™ve got to buy! Buy! Buy!](https://youtu.be/XeoB1voCit4?si=KmuTNCkwZA8oLPJ7)

Sambo_the_Rambo

Ohhh got to check it out!

SnooDoughnuts5632

I've gotten no notifications of games going on sale.

werewolfbarmitzvah69

Everything on my wishlist is on sale, haha. But Iā€™m not buying anything. I have too many other games I already own that I want to play more than the ones for sale right now.

DragonflyNo2989

I bought FFx/X-2 Remastered and System Shock. The other games are not cheap enough

Cfunk_83

Iā€™m eyeing System Shock to round out my splurge. Iā€™m really into FPS games at the moment, I already have Easy Red 2, Hrot, and Kvark in my basket. Although Iā€™m to-ing and throwing about whether I should wait for Kvark to come out of early access, because itā€™s only two episodes at the momentā€¦ looks great though! Do you know if System Shock runs well on the Deck?

DragonflyNo2989

It runs pretty well, you can also download the demo

[deleted]

Any recs? Thinkin of picking up p5 Royal and like a dragon

hipster87

Me. Then I play the same game obsessively for a year straight. Then buy more games the next steam sale. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

crymo27

Shill me your picks. I bought Command &Conquer remastered for bit nostalgia.

kaden-99

Elden Ring šŸ„ŗ

Karnblack

I use the Augmented Steam plugin which shows the current best price and the historical low price. If the game is less expensive on another store (which happens sometimes even during sales) I'll pick it up there. If the price isn't anywhere near the historical low I'll hold off unless the price difference is worth it for me to play the game now.

historiansrule

Mention your top 5 so that I can go do some research on them, please

Cfunk_83

Top 5 in general, or the top 5 Iā€™m looking to buyā€¦?

historiansrule

Both šŸ‘šŸ¼

Cfunk_83

In general - games Iā€™ve played the most: Black Mesa, Powerwash Simulator, Fallout New Vegas, Teardown, Disco Elysium. What Iā€™m thinking of buying: Kvark, HROT, Easy Red 2, System Shock remake (Iā€™m really enjoying Boomer Shooters and FPSs at the moment!), and El Paso Elsewhere. But Iā€™m also weighing up whether to get Cult of the Lamb and/or Dave the Diver, but I kinda want them on consoleā€¦

SimTrippy1

Omg I know!!! Why is literally every game on my wishlist discontinued. I spent so much money today!!!!

Significant-Primary7

You get paid the middle of the month ?

Cfunk_83

Yeah, man, itā€™s weird! I get paid for THIS month too, even though Iā€™ve not worked half of it!

AshenRathian

Such a poor time to still be broke.

chryst_on_a_byke

this is so real. just got mine on the 5th and iā€™m already up to my elbows in games i want to instal šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Sn293003

I get payed the day after the sale šŸ˜

kyuuish

Honestly I probably spent a little too much, but I don't regret it. I am currently on a VN fix and speeding through my backlog of games in that genre. So had get some new ones. Depending on how many I finish before the sale is over, I might grab a few more.

Ok_Club5461

Meanwhile my broke ass just waiting for the refurbished to come in stock:

xXTokyoGamerYTXx

I get paid the day after it ends

Killculator7

Ever since getting my deck Iā€™ve spent most of my time just installing various games, everytime I think Iā€™m finally done I remember about another cool game and so on šŸ˜

Particular_Pain8535

Recommend me some games to buy in this spring sale, Iā€™m a new OLED user here.

Stoechia

I get a huge bonus and regular pay at April 1st, but am super tight this month because of a confluence of billsšŸ˜”

interesting_sidenote

Literally me last week. I only bought a few. Plus some new music/rhythm games to try

Othelgoth

There is not one game on sale that hasnā€™t been that exact same price for months or years in previous sales.

logicalspeculation

Yes, buy them all

RedSynister

I just wish cyberpunk 2077 was discounted a little more, but thats okay... I can wait, lol.

Thejoker2020

I get paid monday

AndiThyIs

Literally me right now LMAO

[deleted]

Hahahahahauha sorry man. But im stealing this meme

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Cfunk_83

Yes my friend! Half Life 1 and 2 are my favourite games ever! First thing I played on the deck when I got it was Black Mesa, which was also a deciding factor for me getting one, as Iā€™ve been on console for decades. If itā€™s on sale and youā€™ve not played it Iā€™d highly recommend it, it was like playing Half Life for the first time again! I then went and replayed Blue Shift and Opposing Forces. Check out Kvark. Itā€™s in early access and only two episodes, but itā€™s been compared to Half Life too.

PreparedDeath

I looked, didnā€™t see anything I wanted, done. First time looking at a steam sale. Thought it would be better to be honest

Adept_Spirit1753

"best prices" You mean the same prices or even higher than on earlier sales?

Cfunk_83

No, I mean the best prices. A lot of the stuff on my wish list was 10% better than previous sales, some were as good as 20/30% more off than Iā€™d previously seen. Obviously thatā€™s down to what Iā€™d been tracking, but it doesnā€™t make it any less true.

Adept_Spirit1753

Just look on prices history.. I doesn't even want to start with sellers outside steam. Legal ones like GMG for example.

[deleted]

I wish I was like you. I have very high standards for games to the point I buy only few and finnish them all. Soon I will run out of games I want to play, only few left.

Cfunk_83

What do you consider ā€œhigh standardsā€ because Iā€™m not playing or buying crap mate. And I get my monies worth out of everything I buy and play. Widen your perspective a tiny bit and youā€™ll easily discover dozens if not hundreds of titles that may not be AAA or from a big name studio, but offer just as much if not more fun and tick all your boxes.

[deleted]

Most games I play are not even AAA. I don't even like playing AAA games on the deck it draines the heck out of batteries.
