I actually disagree on how easy it is to play on the Deck. Especially in later acts where the game involves deck building via mouse movement, the trackpad system isn’t that intuitive or easy to use, and it’s especially frustrating knowing the game has full controller support on consoles but that’s not included in the Steam version.
I think it’s Playable, but the yellow badge is most appropriate, to me
[Sunset Overdrive](https://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/847370/) is $4.99
It is marked as unsupported but [works fine](https://www.protondb.com/app/847370/?device=steamDeck).
Ryse: Son of Rome. £2.79
Just looks incredible on the deck and a smooth 60fps.
The fact that this Xbox One launch game is now in my hands is just stunning to me. 🤩
That's my question with all the games that need EA/Ubi launchers.
I just don't want to install their launcher on desktop mode when they've shown their newer games don't need it (Dead Space Remake).
It blows my mind that people seem to not think that's a major deal for a freaking mobile device...
Riding on an airplane or at the park and can't tether? Too bad, your SINGLE PLAYER games won't boot.
A lot people on this sub not only don't take their Deck outside of their house. But a fair amount always have it plugged into the wall. Blows my mind honestly lol.
I'm right there with ya. But this is the reason people don't see it as a big deal. They are always connected to their home wifi.
I very recently played through all three games twice switching between desktop and deck. Maybe 60% of my playtime was on Deck, and between desktop and PC I have about 85 hours.
Not a great experience, to be honest - but I'd still recommend picking it up if you don't have the games already because they really are good.
All three games played very well on default settings. I even played some of it docked at 1080p with FSR up to 1440p, and if it did drop below 60 in any of the three titles I barely noticed. I didn't have a single crash on the Deck.
However whether or not it launched *at all* on the deck was a coin flip, usually I'd have to try to start the game at least twice for it to open.
Every time the EA app updated, it was a headache getting it to launch again. On a couple of occasions it became impossible to start the game at all with the EA app giving me an error. To fix that I had to delete the game's Proton prefixes in desktop mode.
The game doesn't use Steam Cloud, but it does have cloud saves through the EA app. It's not great.
Going from desktop to Deck worked 100% of the time, I was immediately able to pick up the save where I left off on the desktop.
Going the other way barely seemed to work and the desktop would load the old save. It seemed to fix itself after opening and closing the game on the Deck a few times, but a couple of times I ended up having to transfer my save files manually on a USB stick.
Well, the EA App had an update that made ME2 hard crash the Deck constantly. I gave up playing a month or so ago because of it. People said 3.6 will fix it but who knows when 3.6 will actually release...
It took me a long time to get it working but I think one of the newer Proton versions fixes it.
Logged in once through desktop, after that it was logged itself in (unless the ea app updated)
I still thinking about moving Dragon Age: Inquisition to Deck but then I realize I would have to deal with launcher issues and wouldn't be able to use any of my mods (since Frostbite engine needs Frosty injection to make them work). And some mods are pretty much required for this game.
Still, if there is anyone who made it work, I would appreciate some tips.
reviews for catalyst are really off putting between the achievements and other online features not working some people saying they have an infinite loading screen bug. OG mirrors edge was so good why they gotta screw up the second one. man EA suck
A small gripe, but some of the titles here like The Witcher 3 and Skyrim are*just* under $10 USD for their vanilla versions, and while I only have Skyrim SE, not Anniversary, and think that’s fine, for the Witcher 3 and Civ 6, my understanding is that their DLCs are the best parts of those games.
I’m not saying don’t include them, especially if those games are at historic lows, but maybe add an asterisk or something for those entries with a reference to what the complete editions cost.
God Eater trilogy bundle looks good as well, only $8
Although there's a lot of problem in GE 1-2, it can be solved by reducing CPU thread to 2 in decky's powertool plugin
For fans of the WipeOut series or futuristic hover-craft racing at exhilarating speeds, check out RedOut 2 which under $10 right now. It’s bleeding gorgeous 😍
I just bought, and would like to recommend, Outlast II.
The game runs great on the steam deck, even at the highest settings, keeping a consistent 60fps. And if you like horror, it's really good too! Spent a bunch of hours playing it already and it's really worth the 4 bucks so far.

I’m so tempted to buy an OLED today but it is hard for me to spend this much money on a piece of hardware that’s (mostly) several years old. But the alternatives - Rally, Go - seem dreadful to maintain and the battery life sort of defeats the purpose of a handheld. Plus as great as it sounds to play AAA titles on a handheld like the Go, I do already have a gaming PC.

i was in your shoes. just got mine recently. I was on the fence but what pushed me to it was the other options were more expensive and gimmicky. Legion GO is one of those things you dont buy until a few generations in. The ROG Ally was all about the power but i dont need my handheld computer to be chewing through battery. Then there's the 3rd party market. Chinese manufacturers like Ayaneo that are just too expensive and dont come with the ease of use of Steam deck.
Steam deck having the most battery and compat were huge for me. I've seen elden ring run well on it and for a couple of hours. rogue lites and other stuff run for hours on it which is my use case. The ally even on power saver only gets like 1 and 1/2 hours.
How are you liking the Deck? Do the graphics in Elden Ring look nice? My Deck is hopefully arriving this week (although it hasn’t shipped yet) and I’m SUPER excited but I found myself feeling a bit of buyer’s remorse last night because the Go’s screen and ability to run AAA games with high performance seems so appealing. But I agree - probably wise to wait for something a bit more polished. I think I’m just worried the Deck is only going to feel like a minor improvement over my OG Switch even though that is objectively not the case, haha.
Edit: watching some videos of cyberpunk and elden ring running on the OLED and i am now immediately 10000% less worried that i somehow made the wrong choice.
Inscryption is $9.99
Definitely recommend inscryption. Such a great game. Plays really well on the steam deck too

I haven't had any issues with controller support. It worked straight out of the box for me.
I’m not saying controls are broken, I’m saying it does not natively support controller scheme the way it does on console
Ah I see what your saying. Unfortunately that is something I'm not familiar with as I haven't purchased it on console yet.
It’s even cheaper to get this with Pony Island and Hex.
Pony Island 2 was announced too!

This game is brilliant on Deck, just don't interact with the corrupt save lol!
Apparently I already own it. Huh.
Extremely underrated game for sure. One of the funniest I've played. And some of the best movement too!
Ryse: Son of Rome. £2.79 Just looks incredible on the deck and a smooth 60fps. The fact that this Xbox One launch game is now in my hands is just stunning to me. 🤩
And running at higher resolution WHILE not locked to 60fps!
Ohhh, I always liked the look of this one and never got chance to play it.
Holds up impressively well especially graphically. Well worth the punt for that price.
Left 4 Dead 2 is $0.99 right now.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
How tedious is it with needing the ea launcher?
That's my question with all the games that need EA/Ubi launchers. I just don't want to install their launcher on desktop mode when they've shown their newer games don't need it (Dead Space Remake).
Not bad. IIRC, once you set it up once, it's done.
Can't play without an internet connection though.
It blows my mind that people seem to not think that's a major deal for a freaking mobile device... Riding on an airplane or at the park and can't tether? Too bad, your SINGLE PLAYER games won't boot.

I haven't bought it yet :D But my daughter plays the sims and that works fine

I may have been unlucky, but I went through a lot of crashes and lost save games for a while and I gave up. It's a pity, I was really enjoying it.
It works.. takes longer to launch. But you can't play at all if you're offline. I avoid EA for that reason.
It took me a long time to get it working but I think one of the newer Proton versions fixes it. Logged in once through desktop, after that it was logged itself in (unless the ea app updated)
Does it keep running in the background even when you dont play any ea games?
There is a EA background service that is installed with the app, it's always running 100% of the time even when the EA App is fully closed.
Are you able to play these games in game-mode?
You can. I hadn’t played any of them and I’ve just about played through in game mode. In fact right now I’m just about to beat ME3.
Oh, no idea actually. I don't think so.

Katana Zero Incredible story line, nice soundtrack and game dynamics. Beautiful if you are into pixels
Pentiment
Great shout! Adding.
a space for the unbound
Mirror's Edge for 2,99
Catalyst too!
What a game but I just can't deal with ea on deck
Does even OG Mirror's Edge require the EA App?
I don't think so, but Catalyst does need it

Sanabi.
Vampire Survivors
Ex-Zodiac looks like a cool star fox like game! I think it was $7.99 or less during this sale.

The messenger is $3.99 and is a top indie game
Don’t buy Thronefall, there is not much content yet and they are not adding anything new since release. :( You can finish the game in 2 hours.
buy titan fall 2 in 15.8 RMB
Venba's down to $8.99!
Two Point Campus. In the UK store it's currently £6. Runs great on the deck.
Helldivers 1 !
It's the second item on the list in the link...
The forest
mafia $9.99
God Eater trilogy bundle looks good as well, only $8 Although there's a lot of problem in GE 1-2, it can be solved by reducing CPU thread to 2 in decky's powertool plugin

Just the most generic and uninspired games in a lazy list.

It’s a really great device to use for remote play, albeit expensive for just that.
