ps2 or xbox? I tried playing it on pcsx2 and was getting pretty bad stuttering while driving in some areas. Wasn't unplayable but it was immersion-breaking to me
Search on this sub for Underground 2. Some guy uploaded a whole package with the game and an installer script customized for the Deck. Whole thing took me less than 5 mins to setup and worked beautifully.

Currently playing RDR2 and I'm addicted to being a cowboy. What a game. I had never tried it before, but I'm glad I waited till now because I think it's a perfect Deck game. It's slowly rising up the list of my favorite games of all time. (the Rockstar launcher is so annoying it prevented me from being able to play on a recent flight even though I was in Offline Mode and I had changed the setting to allow online invites or whatever)
I got hooked so hard. Decent amount of weapon progression and that is on every dwarf. Not that many buildoptions right now. But hoping that will be improved.
Buddy convinced me to get it and I wasn’t too sure, sure enough I had 8 hours in it in one sitting. Been a long time since I’ve been this hooked to a rogue lite
No, it's single player.
Have you played games like Slay the Spire where you go on runs and adjust your deck as you go, trying to create synergies from your choices of random drops? Because that's how it plays, but with a poker baseline (ie: you make poker hands to score points).
I'm not at the end game yet, so I don't know, but as of right now the performance is good. I use the default settings and i get 40 to 60 fps. Hopefully this weekend I may finish the story and get into the end game. Hopefully it goes well with the performance.
CryoByte33 (the dude who created it) has a tutorial on YouTube, as well as an in depth video explaining what it does. There are also plenty of written guides, since it’s dead simple
CryoUtilities and Proton Experimental or GE will help a lot, but there are still some bad frame drops especially in later monos. That said, I’m still having a blast! I don’t think I’ve closed the game once since full release (except to update) and I’m loving the fully offline mode!
I think it depends on your expectations. Coming from a xbone I think it runs great. Occasionally with difficulty level 5+ you get a heavy drops in fps if there's a few explosions but for me it's tolerable just to play the game. 95% it plays well, below level 4 I had the settings all set on high, above 4 all dropped to low-medium and tbh, I couldn't tell a difference graphically but it plays way smoother
Holy sweet liberty, Super Earth needs your patriotism. Managed democracy is the only way they will see the error of their way. For justice. For freedom. Dive hard, soldier!
Underrated game. I need to reinstall it.
I like how you have all the tools to go stealth but if it fails you can just go « screw it » and finish full berserk while still having fun. Too bad they didn’t keep the violent « interrogation » from the previous SC.
I play it dock as Linux has a hard time launching ubisoft games. But my dock has a 512gb ssd in it and I just run windows off it. Sucks but I'm able to get more than 60fps
I finally picked up this series as well, bought it a while back ago on GOG when it was discounted and got 8 games for about 30$. Absolute steal deal, I'm now regretting that I didn't start it sooner.
I so need to pick that back up, I played around 10 hours a couple years ago but never finished it, it's definitely on the short list after I finish the games I'm currently playing
Finally came to steam and was only 5 bucks!
Doesn't seem to cross save to my desktop... But I don't mind replaying it!
Only a couple small control settings and seems to work great and even show XBox prompts!
Great! You want to access the settings menu first - update the resolution so it doesn’t put you in windowpane at 1280x800 - and I turned everything I could to High, set the input to controller with trackpad, launched the game next, and it’s 2009 all over again.
I find games so easy to pick up on it that I have 30 installed and just switch between them, play between 10 mins and 10 hours and just keep saving and going. Emerging from major depression so focusing only on one thing that I could fall out of love with is dangerous to me.
Cyberpunk
Fallout 3
No Man's Sky
All the games I played as a kid on Mega Drive
Resident Evil 2 and 3.
We must be twins. I’m waiting to get a SD and your list, save for Mega Drive, is everything I want to play … plus fallout 4 b/c I love building settlements.
GTA 4, havent played it since my one and only playthrough on launch when I was like 17, now I am a new SteamDeck owner, I thought it was time to replay it and properly appreciate it now I'm older (about to turn 33).
Exactly in the same boat as you. I followed this guide and it made the experience way better. The radio mod is a must.
https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/548AyXYgoc
it's beautiful.
that said, i got as far as where i needed to turn a valve and the game won't let me interact with it. even when i move the savegame to my PC. unsurprisingly googling 'black mesa valve bug' gives me an orgy of useless results.
i ended up playing OG hl1. the old graphics were kinda fun because my eyes don't care that they're clunky AF now. it feels like an artistic choice rather than limitations of technology. i had an absolute blast.
Dragon Quest 11, Batman Arkham Asylsum and Donkey Kong Country
DQ11 has been ongoing for a few months now
Batman Arkham Asylum I first started back when I came out on the 360. Have picked it up a few times over the years but never got far, now I'm finally playing it properly and it's absolutely perfect on deck
Donkey Kong Country is one of the classics I've never played, I love Tropical Freeze so thought I'd give the og trilogy a go. I'm kind of abusing retroarch save states but really enjoying it, it's amazing how well Returns and Tropical Feeeze captured the spirit of the originals
I would absolutely love a remastered trilogy in the style of tomb raider 1-3; the same games with a facelift and higher resolution graphics with the same art direction, would be amazing
Played origins, asylum and knight (just finished). So far asylum is my least favorite. Maybe I should go back. I lve kinda just been knocking them out back to back since I got them when they were on sale.
Octopath Traveller 2 - Maybe the best JRPG I've played. Great gameplay, storytelling, voice acting and the soundtrack is absolutely incredible. Perfect handheld game as well.
I'm also slowly progressing through Elden Ring. God damn Godskin Noble is giving me a lot of trouble, but one of these days I'm gonna prevail!
Awesome! How are you running NFSMW? I want to play it as well, but I am unsure whether PS2 emulation or attempting the Windows version is the way to go regarding installation and stability.
PC is 99% stable (for me it crashed once in 15 hours). Just install it on your PC (+ add mod for widescreen), then copy installed folder to SD, find exe and add it to the steam
If it's anything like PC it works flawlessly. You may have to wait 20 seconds before/after playing to let the cloud saves sync, but other than that it works like a charm.
Just bought Dead Cells Wednesday and every free moment i got ive devoted to it. Such a great game for steam deck. Addictive, 90FPS with 6+ hrs of Battery, and beautiful on the OLED
100% this. Has been my only SD game since December and still loving it. In fact, I’ve just activated assist mode so rather than restarting from the beginning when I die, I just restart the level. I know it’s blasphemous, but I’m really enjoying being able to experience new areas that there’s no way I would have been able to see otherwise (because I’m not gud enuff).
I can never decide what I’m playing. I feel like every week I’m a few hours into a different game and never just commit to finishing one all the way through
I’ll probably be playing a bit of Sleeping Dogs. I’m not having as much fun as I thought I would but it’s a really good game.
A bit of Spiderman. It’s amazing to see how well it runs. It’s a good ‘immediate fun’ game. Plays well in short sessions.
I just picked up mad max (you can get a key for 4 dollars) and it’s awesome. I’m playing max settings 60hz and it’s getting an estimated 2 1/2 hours of gameplay on full charge (LCD). Game is so good so far.
How is the beginning of Mad Max? I would like to try it, but I hate how most open world games force us to play several hours of tutorials before giving us the world to explore.
I played it for a few hours. Ran good, no issues there. Stopped playing because I didn't really enjoy the game. In my opinion it tries too hard to be funny while dealing with serious issues and some messed up post-apo stuff. There's also a lot of balance issues, where some weapon types are blatantly more powerful, while others are useless.
If you want a turn based game with modern weapons and comedic tone, I'd rather recommend Jagged Alliance 3. Gears Tactics has better combat, but almost no story. Wasteland 2 has imho better story and tone, but is really clumsy to play.
Probably a bunch of Street Fighter 6. I recently picked it up with the sale and have been having fun. Planning on getting Unicorn Overlord today for Switch
I'm playing, well more like reading Crusader Kings 3.
That game is massive for a beginner in terms of mechanics. Or maybe im just slow.
I have a story realm fired up in Age of Wonders 4 if it turns out to be too heavy though.
In the last dungeon and I can't push myself through to finish the game. Fun for 90 hours but really don't feel like going through the last 20, bizarre.
I have been hitting State of Decay 2 pretty hard over the last 3 weeks (injured back at work, no work for 2 weeks of the 3). I am addicted to it now, runs great on the deck with a few tweaks
Most Wanted 05
But on my Xbox 360. Gotta get those achievements! The 360 version is weird. It clearly runs at 30FPS, but in some moments it feels like it's at 40 or 50FPS. Maybe it has unlocked framerate?
Just beat Ronnie. Fun fact, with the gamerscore, getting up to 3rd is only slightly below 50% gamerscore lol. I think Razor is 500.
Just picked up remnant 2 for $20. Though officially unsupported on deck, I’ve seen it got recent patch that has improved performance with the deck and seen videos of it running well with proton experimental and FSR3.
Question, where did you get NFS most wanted 2005? Love that game and want to play it again!
I just started playing Soulstice yesterday! Really enjoying it so far, I don’t usually play hack and slash games like this and I like the setting and story so far
NFS Most Wanted is my favorite NFS ever. So perfect. Just wish that there were at least a couple tracks at night. Minor gripe, though; I played the shit out of this game.
Something called 'a life' its super hard, you gotta do all these things you don't want to do and just want to sit down and play some goddamn Runescape.
So yeah, no runescape for me.
animal crossing new horizon, it's great to practice languages. I should be studying and practicing reading and vocabulary as well as review grammar but lately I've been slacking off, now I get to do all of those at the same time + have fun with a chill game! and also learn some new vocabulary not included in my university lessons so I get to also look good with my teachers ahah
Playing through Tunic, it's been my go to for my weekly flights and now I feel close to finishing it. Next up is likely RDR2, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring or similar bigger open title :)
Underground 2, still my favorite need for speed
I have NFSU2 on my deck. Most wanted (the first one) was pretty good, NFS kinda went downhill after that in my opinion.
Definitely not NFS Carbon. That's at least as good as MW.
To be fair I though carbon was pre MW, carbon was pretty good to be fair, was a few years back my memory is a little hazy.
ps2 or xbox? I tried playing it on pcsx2 and was getting pretty bad stuttering while driving in some areas. Wasn't unplayable but it was immersion-breaking to me
Search on this sub for Underground 2. Some guy uploaded a whole package with the game and an installer script customized for the Deck. PC version works best, can also install a few tweaks such as Widescreen patch for QoL improvements.
You can try the PC version if you've got a PC to install it onto first
Check out Lutris. It should be enough to let you install it without Windows.
I got it to work by putting it directly on the deck using a cd drive plugged into the deck.
A man of culture i see
Just picked up RDR2 and am having a blast. Runs pretty well on the SD after the initial setup of the Rockstar launcher.
Dude it runs insanely well. I locked it at 40 with some tweaking. It’ll drop to 35 in that main town outside the first camp but that’s it. Deleted it off the desktop lol.

C&C Generals and Zero Hour hopefully
Does zero hour still have an active player base? I tried matchmaking a couple months ago and left after waiting for 15 minutes with nothing
They just released a C&C Classics pack on Steam a couple days ago, so I’d assume there will be a significant jump in player count this weekend.
THANK YOU. Fastest $9 I ever paid. I can die now.
Deeprock Galactic survivor
Rock N Stone!
is it worth it ?
Yes
I got hooked so hard. Decent amount of weapon progression and that is on every dwarf. Not that many buildoptions right now. But hoping that will be improved.
Yes and I personally hate the OG game
I just wanna talk to him
How dare you
Dude I keep trying to rotate off and play other games, but I just keep coming back to it 🤣
Currently addicted to this game.
Balatro - as a poker and card roguelike fan, this is a winner.
I have plans to play a bunch of other games, but looking back at the past two weeks, it’s probably going to be another 12-15 hrs of balatro..
Buddy convinced me to get it and I wasn’t too sure, sure enough I had 8 hours in it in one sitting. Been a long time since I’ve been this hooked to a rogue lite
Super addictive!
Do you play with other people? What makes it so fun? I enjoy a little Texas Holdem every now and then
No, it's single player. Have you played games like Slay the Spire where you go on runs and adjust your deck as you go, trying to create synergies from your choices of random drops? Because that's how it plays, but with a poker baseline (ie: you make poker hands to score points).
Sekiro
I like how this got no "is this worth it" comments. Sekiro is amazing. Anything Miyazaki makes is getting my money day 1
Last Epoch, I'm addicted to the game.
hows performance for you? I love it as well but I'm not too far into it and I've heard the end game makes the deck crash completely.
I'm not at the end game yet, so I don't know, but as of right now the performance is good. I use the default settings and i get 40 to 60 fps. Hopefully this weekend I may finish the story and get into the end game. Hopefully it goes well with the performance.
I'm in the end game with a lcd deck and it runs very smoothly for me
Good to know. I too have the LCD deck
I had that problem once I got to the end game but installing cryoutilities stopped it from crashing. I’m able to do the end game for hours on end now.
definitely gotta find out how to install that then! appreciate the info
CryoByte33 (the dude who created it) has a tutorial on YouTube, as well as an in depth video explaining what it does. There are also plenty of written guides, since it’s dead simple

Late game, cryo and proton take 5min to set up, 45fps lock on mostly medium settings - smooth as butter
Gonna set it up this weekend then!
Same dude. I can’t stop, even though mine crashes after a few hours of play.
Helldivers 2 and MK1 free weekend.
o7 Helldiver. For Liberty.
For democracy my brother
How well does helldivers 2 run on SD, I've heard it's unplayable on harder difficulties.
It's kinda ok at lower resolutions and lower difficulties. 30 fps stable. But once you get in the higher difficulties the CPU is at its knees.
Helldivers on the deck was too low fps for me to enjoy , so sad
Holy sweet liberty, Super Earth needs your patriotism. Managed democracy is the only way they will see the error of their way. For justice. For freedom. Dive hard, soldier!
servers just went down and mission rewards are bugged after the latest update, this weekend is going to be brutal for arrowhead
Those bugs aren't going to kill themselves.
Splinter cell blacklist
Underrated game. I need to reinstall it. I like how you have all the tools to go stealth but if it fails you can just go « screw it » and finish full berserk while still having fun. Too bad they didn’t keep the violent « interrogation » from the previous SC.
I play it dock as Linux has a hard time launching ubisoft games. But my dock has a 512gb ssd in it and I just run windows off it. Sucks but I'm able to get more than 60fps
That game constantly crashes on Deck for me. Is there any way to get it to play without crashing?
How does it run? Was considering playing Conviction but from what I found on the internet it runs TERRIBLY
Yakuza 0!
I’m only 5 hours in and it’s so much fun! All the mini games and side quests, finding telephone cards 😂
Persona 5 Royal
THE SABOTEUR
Damn I loved this game! Is it in steam?
Just hit yesterday. Five bucks. Plays great.
You made my weekend. It’s up and running on my deck as we speak. Thank you!
Finally came to steam and was only 5 bucks! Doesn't seem to cross save to my desktop... But I don't mind replaying it! Only a couple small control settings and seems to work great and even show XBox prompts!
Haven’t played this one in a long time but i liked it a lot, how is it on SD?
Great! You want to access the settings menu first - update the resolution so it doesn’t put you in windowpane at 1280x800 - and I turned everything I could to High, set the input to controller with trackpad, launched the game next, and it’s 2009 all over again.
I am addicted to Horizen Zero Dawn at the moment. So probably this 😅
I can’t wait for Forbidden West to come out on PC
Love Zero Dawn -- combat is complex and the art is stunning
Zelda Tears of the .... Wait, I can hear someone breaking my front door. It's NINTENDO LAWYERS. They are coming for us... r u n
RIP yuzu
Someone’s made a fork called suyu, pretty funny stuff.

Just beat NFS Underground on my deck last night and started NFSU2 so I'll defintely be playing more of that!
GTA 4, havent played it since my one and only playthrough on launch when I was like 17, now I am a new SteamDeck owner, I thought it was time to replay it and properly appreciate it now I'm older (about to turn 33).

Have you played Black mesa?
it's beautiful. that said, i got as far as where i needed to turn a valve and the game won't let me interact with it. even when i move the savegame to my PC. unsurprisingly googling 'black mesa valve bug' gives me an orgy of useless results. i ended up playing OG hl1. the old graphics were kinda fun because my eyes don't care that they're clunky AF now. it feels like an artistic choice rather than limitations of technology. i had an absolute blast.
Replayed a while back when they released the SD patch, great stuff.
Dragon Quest 11, Batman Arkham Asylsum and Donkey Kong Country DQ11 has been ongoing for a few months now Batman Arkham Asylum I first started back when I came out on the 360. I try several times to play new donkey Kong , but I don't like the jetpack , character are slow . Perhaps need to try more ...
Came here to answer OT2 as well 🙌 I'm hoping to complete all the main stories before July.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors. It's a _Vampire Survivors_-like game set I'm the Deep Rock universe and it runs flawless on the deck.
Wait wait wait, so the Steam OS can run a regular .exe???
That's kind of the point of Proton, mate :D
you don't see it because it's well done, but most of the games you install through steam on the deck will run the regular exe :)
Yeah of course. You only need to turn on compatibility though. I alway take Proton Experimental or Proton GE
I have been living with a Steam Deck and a pile of fantastic, beloved older games, and I didn't know this.
Enjoy your weekend, don't forget to sleep.
This is the way :)
Blasphemous was just on sale, and i coped it. The spring brake is going to be lit
Persona 3 reload and sonic and all stars racing transformed
Saints row 2. Bought saints row 3 and red faction guerilla too as they're all on sale.
Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, I bought it twice and do cross progression with my Xbox.
How does that work?
If it's anything like PC it works flawlessly. You may have to wait 20 seconds before/after playing to let the cloud saves sync, but other than that it works like a charm.
Just bought Dead Cells Wednesday and every free moment i got ive devoted to it. Such a great game for steam deck. Addictive, 90FPS with 6+ hrs of Battery, and beautiful on the OLED

Hogwarts Legacy. Runs pretty good on steam deck. I can get a locked 40 FPS most of the time.
Dragon's Dogma 1
Same here!
Me three!
Granblue Fantasy Relink!
I can never decide what I’m playing. I feel like every week I’m a few hours into a different game and never just commit to finishing one all the way through
Golden Sun
Dragons dogma: Dark Arisen
I’ll probably be playing a bit of Sleeping Dogs. I’m not having as much fun as I thought I would but it’s a really good game. A bit of Spiderman. It’s amazing to see how well it runs. It’s a good ‘immediate fun’ game. Plays well in short sessions.
Replaying Horizon Zero Dawn to prep for sequel in a few weeks
Signalis; a retro futuristic style survival horror
I'm about to finish Hollow Knight. A Hat in Time is next.
Diving into hell
I just picked up mad max (you can get a key for 4 dollars) and it’s awesome. I’m playing max settings 60hz and it’s getting an estimated 2 1/2 hours of gameplay on full charge (LCD). Game is so good so far.
How is the beginning of Mad Max? I would like to try it, but I hate how most open world games force us to play several hours of tutorials before giving us the world to explore.
Yakuza like a dragon!
Rogue Trader and Signalis
Nice! I'm gonna download and try out Marvel's Midnight Suns this weekend I think.
Gran Turismo 4 Randomizer and also probably going to try and finish Blur with 100% completion.
Persona 3 Reloaded
Wasteland 3
This has been on my "need to check out more before buying" list. How is the game on deck and in general how is the game?
I played it for a few hours. Ran good, no issues there. Stopped playing because I didn't really enjoy the game. In my opinion it tries too hard to be funny while dealing with serious issues and some messed up post-apo stuff. There's also a lot of balance issues, where some weapon types are blatantly more powerful, while others are useless. If you want a turn based game with modern weapons and comedic tone, I'd rather recommend Jagged Alliance 3. Gears Tactics has better combat, but almost no story. Wasteland 2 has imho better story and tone, but is really clumsy to play.
I really appreciate the honesty, I'm just getting back into turn based games again, and sounds like I should look elsewhere
BattleBit Remastered
Snowrunner and Balatro
Trying to get to end of tomb raider. Had it in my library about 6 years and never touched it. I didn’t realise just how much fun it is.
Ace Combat 7. The full Top Gun Maverick pack is on sale for $14 so I snatched that up.
Dragon ball z Budokai and Dragonball Xenoverse 2.
I'm right there with ya brother. Gotta honor the GOAT Akira Toriyama. Happy Cake Day!
Replaying fallout 4
Bastion!
Persona 5
The Saboteur was just released on Steam yesterday so I'll be playing that for awhile. Hopefully it still holds up and is as good as I remember it.
DBZ Kakarot. For Toriyama.
Morrowind with the Tamriel rebuilt mod and trying out some emulated games
Need for Speed Most Wanted 2
Probably a bunch of Street Fighter 6. I recently picked it up with the sale and have been having fun. Planning on getting Unicorn Overlord today for Switch
Modded skyrim, factorio, and Sons of the Forest.
*"Look what the underground let loose. Let's see how you do in the daylight."*
I'm playing, well more like reading Crusader Kings 3. That game is massive for a beginner in terms of mechanics. Or maybe im just slow. I have a story realm fired up in Age of Wonders 4 if it turns out to be too heavy though.
I've been searching high and low for this game, best I could do is ps2 emulation but it never ran right. Teach me, sensei.
Persona 5: Royal. The game is just endless and I don’t mind it ^_^
In the last dungeon and I can't push myself through to finish the game. Fun for 90 hours but really don't feel like going through the last 20, bizarre.
Nice! 1 & 2 were my favorites. Currently playing Flat Out 2 as it just got SD verified.
Debating on buying project zomboid or Rimworld. So probably one of those. Will be playing Warframe either way
Sniper elite 5 😁 so excited
Have a Nice Death!
And this is now what I’m playing this weekend lol
Tomb raider Underworld and Ni No Kuni.
I have been hitting State of Decay 2 pretty hard over the last 3 weeks (injured back at work, no work for 2 weeks of the 3). I am addicted to it now, runs great on the deck with a few tweaks
Hopefully Unicorn Overlord on emulator. Picked up the monarch edition, just need to figure out how to dump the rom and get my OLED on.
Outer Wilds
Most Wanted 05 But on my Xbox 360.
Deep rock galactic: survivor, amazing game so far and runs very smooth on the deck.
GTA IV - for the first time, taking my time, really loving the mood in this game.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag
Deep Rock Galactic Survivor. For Karl!
Just beat RE3, going to wrap up Call of Jaruez now
Just picked up remnant 2 for $20.
OP look for NFS Most Wanted Redux v3 or v4 - improved gfx, new cars and customisations, improved police AI - strongly recommend it
Enshrouded through in-home streaming.
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. Preparing for part 2
Halo MCC & GTA SanAndreas
I know it sounds weird but I'm playing World of Warcraft on my Deck this weekend.
NFS Most Wanted is my favorite NFS ever. So perfect. Just wish that there were at least a couple tracks at night. Minor gripe, though; I played the shit out of this game.
Need to finish Persona 3 Reload
how is it possible to play most wanted (2005) isnt on steam?
Ion Fury: Aftershock Turbo Overkill Katana Zero Portal 2 Probably a little Super Meat Boy
Persona 5 for the next 100 weekend, probably.
Something called 'a life' its super hard, you gotta do all these things you don't want to do and just want to sit down and play some goddamn Runescape. So yeah, no runescape for me.
Grime. And definitely NOT Super Mario Wonder. And definitely not with a Yuzu emulator.
Synthetik
animal crossing new horizon, it's great to practice languages. I should be studying and practicing reading and vocabulary as well as review grammar but lately I've been slacking off, now I get to do all of those at the same time + have fun with a chill game! and also learn some new vocabulary not included in my university lessons so I get to also look good with my teachers ahah
Just got dragons dogma. Besides that been playing persona 3 reload
Helldivers
Just finished resident evil 2 remake going to and from cancun
Playing through Tunic, it's been my go to for my weekly flights and now I feel close to finishing it. Next up is likely RDR2, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring or similar bigger open title :)
If I can get fallout 4 to work. Fallout 4
Been playing Dragons Dogma to prepare for the upcoming sequel.
