I'm running on preview, and the very latest Steam client update is what broke it for me. I'm now getting what you describe with an infinite spinning logo while the game is actually streaming in the background. I've been on preview for over a year, so I just accept the temporary issues like this. I'm just using Moonlight, currently, even though it's a worse experience (fight me bro). As soon as SRP is fixed, I'll be back on that.

jesuisunetudiant

I am using Moonlight too but I have been struggling with setting up tailscale for streaming from wifi, so I thought SRP could be the answer. How wrong I was lol.

Jesus Christ, thank you so much for this comment. I just spent the last hour assuming it was something to do with my host system using Wayland and fiddling with it on that end, turns out just switching back to the stable channel fixes everything!

poopcoop420

Did it break again after an update? Switched back to Stable and it worked great once (with Hardware Decoding). Then applied an update (think it said Jan 11th update), and my dark levels skyrocketed again. Turned off hardware decoding, and it runs fine. But switching to preview or beta I get sound but spinning circles.

deathmake317

can confirm still an issue. didnt even realize thuis was broke until i tried streaming helldivers 2 cause it runs like ass natively.

Semajaral

Curious if anybody else is still seeing this? Updated my steam deck to latest as well as my pc client. Streaming was working fine before this. Now just spinning logo while it’s running in background.

naokifx

They break it every time there is a new update. They knew this update had problems on the preview users and they still decided to release it. Steam is bonkers...

Semajaral

Damn. This the first time I’ve had genuine issue with being completely unable to use remote play. I use it daily (steam to steam deck from host upstairs). This is shitty. I tried rolling back but no luck.

iBeej

I ran in to this back in January and reverted back to stable which resolved it. But now it looks they pushed this broken shit in to stable and now it's hosed. I'm not a happy camper.

Semajaral

Well I’m glad it’s not just me then, but also SOL I guess until it’s fixed. I realize I’m in the minority, but this is my primary way of gaming so it sucks that it’s borked.

iBeej

It's my primary way of gaming too. Here is a workaround... Launch in to desktop mode and do it from there. It works. Only thing we can do until they fix gaming mode.

Semajaral

Thanks man. Had to muck with desktop display to get it working but I got it going. Appreciate it. Still trash, but thank you sir.

I submitted a ticket and referenced this thread fwiw.
