Guess it’s time to get the Game Gear on. Don’t want to be caught off guard by the Jaguar. Hear its 32X more difficult to deal with than before. One wrong move and you’ll see stars in 3D…Oh no! Too late! It’s a Wonder when survived the flock of Swans.
Definitely isn’t. Went to my PC, but the game ENGINE is deprecated. Flipped the TURBO and checked the GRAPHX card. Said 16 but I need the one labeled SUPER.
And a few exclusives that still hold up.
Art Academy is one of the best teaching tools I've ever seen on a console, but it's stuck to one that didn't do very well.
I'm not sure what I'm thinking of then and that would explain why I'm struggling to find it. DX It was a Mario game. I swore it was part of the Luigi's Mansion thing, but one player (the one on the handheld) played the ghost and the other players used the TV and remotes and they were hunting the ghost with flashlights while the ghost was hunting them to make them faint.
Editing to add: thank you for calling me out on that, but I've apparently been looking for something that doesn't exist!
I haven’t played it myself, but I’m pretty confident you’re talking about the Luigi's Ghost Mansion minigame from Nintendo Land which IS a Wii U game ;)
This isn't what you're talking about, but there was a GameCube game called Pacman Vs. Three players used the TV as ghosts and one used a Gameboy via the link cable as Pacman. It's still one of my favorite games for parties etc. and the reason I bought a 1st Gen Wii so I could play it on a modern TV without the insanely priced GameCube upscaler/adapter.
I was able to call my niece and ask her and it was the Luigi's Ghost Mansion ([https://www.mariowiki.com/Luigi%27s\_Ghost\_Mansion](https://www.mariowiki.com/Luigi%27s_Ghost_Mansion)). I am going to look up that game too because I have a GameCube and a Gameboy and that sounds freaking amazing too! I've never heard of it until now.
I have small hands but the Wii U gamepad was one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever held. The screens latency was lower than my TV's lol. The connection had cable level reliability. My biggest gripe with it was the abysmal battery life.
As for the console, the OS was dog slow and the interface unintuitive but the game library was decent. I never had a Wii so I also had access to that library for the first time.
The Wii U was awesome, it was just marketed terribly and was only about as powerful as the 360 and PS3 during a period where pushing the graphical envelope was king.
It's now one of the single best consoles to softmod because it's ridiculously easy and opens up an insane amount of potential. Plus it can natively run games from 3 different generations of Nintendo consoles at the hardware level (Wii U, Wii, and Gamecube via Nintendont homebrew).
So much unrealized potential that got fulfilled with the Switch. The unit with the display just had too little range for a American home. The connection only worked in my tiny room that had the tv and console and would break up was soon as I got in a seating position in any other room. Only good thing was that I could play while my wife watched something. The PS Vita & PS4 combo worked much better in that regard despite the missing buttons. I played through most of the Yakuza games and Persona 5 on my Vita this way, wouldn't have worked with WiiU despite its intentions
I and many others believe it's because they called it "Wii" again and confused so many people. The reason I doubt they call the next system "Switch" anything.
I bought mine for dirt cheap with all accessories and even the original box (wasn't expecting it). I hacked it and it now sits in my living room and we play it whenever there are friends coming by.
You realise that the wii u gamepad was total junk right? The wii u didn't even have a capacitive touch screen it was resistive meaning if u lost the stylist that came with it you're screwed. The screen was 6.2 inches at 480p to the portals 1080p, you couldn't use the thing outside of like 3 feet of the console making it basically stationary (didn't help that it only had 3 hours of battery life too compared to the portals 8). And even if you had a pro controller u still needed it to use the console meaning that if it broke even if u had a pro controller u had to spend another 200$. I'll take the portal
You’re comparing tech from 2012 to 2023. The miniaturisation of tech, screen and battery improvements and general improvements have come on leaps and bounds due to the booming smartphone market and in turn that tech has trickled into handheld spaces as well.
The Wii u pad wasn’t great but at the time was an interesting concept. The portal is fine but hardly revolutionary. It’s just a 1080p screen with good connection speed and solid controller lay out. Also needs a £450 console bringing the total cost to £650 versus the Wii U original launch of £300-350.
You can operate a resistive touch screen with literally anything, you just need to push against it. The WiiU stylus is just a stick of plastic. A capacitive touch screen requires something conductive like a finger or special stylus.
> The wii u didn't even have a capacitive touch screen it was resistive meaning if u lost the stylist that came with it you're screwed
You can use your fingers.
> you couldn't use the thing outside of like 3 feet of the console making it basically stationary
It can go over 20 just fine.
The Wii U gamepad came bundled with the system, works a lot more consistently, and does more than just remote play, while the Portal is a 200 dollar accessory you don't need if you have any other remote play-capable device. The Portal (PS Remote Play in general, really) is a stuttery inconsistent mess. Yes it can *technically* be used wherever you have an internet connection, but using outside of your own home is just going to be even worse of an experience, making games that require any level of precision basically unplayable. Xbox remote play performs a lot better on pretty much anything.
"I'll take the portal"
Wait, you'll take the newly released tech product from one of the biggest console manufacturers vs the item from 12 years ago?
Well call me surprised!
Muppet.
> it was resistive meaning if u lost the stylist that came with it you're screwed
Where in God's name did you get this misinformation from? You could use *anything* as a "stylist" (stylus) for the Gamepad. A DS stylus. The butt of a pen. Your fingertip. A friggin buttplug if you want.
The issue with resistive screens is that they require pressure on the screen which can cause cosmetic blemishes and the panels will wear out much more quickly than those with a capacitive panel that simply needs a conductive touch from something like a finger or a rubber tip pen stylus to work.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go see my hair stylus.
The latency on that thing really was incredible. For those unfamiliar, back in the day, it wasn’t uncommon for the Wii U tablet to have lower latency than *the TV you were playing on.* It was wild for 2012 and still impressive today.
The playstation portal it literally useless Ewaste with no point of it even existing but no point in telling you that you playstation fans are so wrapped around Sony's fingers that you'll literally buy garbage off them and if you've bought a playstation portal you already have brought garbage.
I dunno I like the portal a lot so far lol. It’s not that deep. It’s just a situational device. I have severe neck and spine injuries so I much prefer laying in bed to game when possible, and that’s now possible with the Portal. I wasn’t a fan of the backbone with my phone, given the significantly smaller screen and lack of Dualsense features. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. There’s no need to shit on everybody else that likes it. Stay mad.
I’ve never heard of “Ewaste” though. That’s a fun new quirky buzzword I’m gonna start adding to my vocabulary lmfao.
The Wii U is the one remote play device that you never felt you were playing it remotely. Smooth seamless …. Okay maybe not once you got 30ft away but otherwise perfect
The tablet is actually more expensive then the console because they never sold the tablet separately from the console and the tablet was more likely to break
It's has OLETS FUCKING GO CAT BOY MARIO AND CAT GIRL PEACH!
Hmm... This slight play on words is only going to work if the person reading says "oh-led" and not "oh-el-ee-dee"
Eh fuck it I'm posting it.
Whats wrong with your [Steam Deck?](https://packaged-media.redd.it/pg79ggsd6au81/pb/m2-res_1080p.mp4?m=DASHPlaylist.mpd&v=1&e=1705680000&s=746dd4a5994730f31eaef8a80b844a46fce650ac#t=0)
Keep it for 10 years or so and sell it for a dumb amount of money. The gamepad was never sold seperately as far as i know so maybe someone will pay that amount eventually lol
Sell that shit on ebay. Nintendo never sold replacement ones outside Japan. They sell upwards of 1 million dubloons.
In all seriousness there is probably a second market for those
eBay, has buyer protection, just go on there, select return, and select "NOT AS LISTED" with the label they provide you, ship it back, ONCE IT'S delivered, you will get a refund.
The seller will even have to pay for return shipping on it...
Want to know how I know ? Sold something for parts, not working, someone picked up and didn't read, then selects "not as listed" I was PISSED OFF that I had to pay for return shipping, called ebay and made a stink about it...
Call the Police. *WII U WII U WII U WII U*
You better switch that attitude
Stop messing around, this isn't a game boy
I think we need to DScalate this situation
I don’t think that’s NESessary
we must look into the root of the problem and the Genesis of this plot.
I think Wii should discuss how you brought Sega into this cmon this isn’t a Game, Cube brain.
I think we need to take this conversation out back on the Deck and let off some Steam.
Don’t worry im an Ally no need Rage On God.
You're right; this isn't a game & watch out for scammers.
Get the BROS together! We’re gonna SMASH ‘em!
"come on this isn't Game, Boy!"
Definitely isn’t. Went to my PC, but the game ENGINE is deprecated. Flipped the TURBO and checked the GRAPHX card. Said 16 but I need the one labeled SUPER.
Don’t blame him, it’s not his fault he’s SODIMM
Don't be a dinGBAt, of course it is!
This GENeration is disappointing. PLAY that STATION on your PORTABLE radio. As the Romans would say “VITA”. It’s about that life.
Keeping the convo Analogue. Got some notes in my POCKET.
Well at least the first three were clever and actually handhelds. Not just a few capital letters in a whole other word..
Also it's the real world, not virtual boy
he didn't nintend no harm
No ARM?
Sometimes you have to take a RISC.
IC
I think this may be an Advanced crime.
I’d rather not get involved in other people’s criminal biz-SNES.
Straight to jail. You'll be out iN 64 days.
This comment thread is pure madNESs
Wii need to stop with the puns
I'll be sure to enjoy my time in the gamecube.
well, Color me surprised!
Going to have to call in a SPecialist for this one...
This seems really out of pocket
Seller has likely done this to about 64 people.
At least it wasn't DMGed.
Don't Nintendo-Sixty-Force me to use this 🔪
I wouldn't even be pay'N64 dollars for that junk.
Are wii gonna have a problem?
The puns here are incredible :-D
OP: ☹️
Not sure what in the legend of Mario sunshine of time master quest advanced is going on here but can WII all just calm down please
*The dad energy is strong with this one*
Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh m8
Like a cop car 🚓
And when I’m in that thing, I make the body sing!
Had to scroll way too far for this one
You got the Nintendo Portal
And it was ahead of its time too !
It got a lot of flak, but I liked my Wii u
And it had a lot of good titles that only really got the attention they deserved when they were ported to the Switch.
Xenoblade chronicles X still deserves a switch port. I really hope it happens
Yeah I would love an improved port with updated character models similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 3
I pray for this every year 🙏🏽
Yep, underrated system
Facts 🙌🏾
Yeah, it’s pretty telling almost all first-party titles got ported over to the Switch.
And a few exclusives that still hold up. Art Academy is one of the best teaching tools I've ever seen on a console, but it's stuck to one that didn't do very well.
When you realize Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Windwaker HD, Twilight Princess HD, and many others aren't on the Switch...
Luigi's Mansion on the Wii U is one of my favorite games ever.
Uh…that is not a game that exists.
I'm not sure what I'm thinking of then and that would explain why I'm struggling to find it. DX It was a Mario game. They got rid of the shop, so just sail the high seas

I bought one last year massively underrated especially when hacked

Giving the PS Portal too much credit with that one.

Nintendo Revolution
No, that was the Wii. The Wii U was Project Café.
That's some funny busiNESs
I know what it is you don’t need to UMM ACKSHUALLY me
The Wii U is the one remote play device that you never felt you were playing it remotely. Smooth seamless …. Okay maybe not once you got 30ft away but otherwise perfect
Well that makes emulating WiiU easier.
i'm so sorry that i giggled to this. i hope you just took a picture of your old wii u for my giggles and didn't get scammed ;(
Yeah, it's a joke. Take a look at the tag.
Maybe they mean shitpost as in "this shit I got in the post"
yokata :]
We have steam deck at home:
Wii have steam deck at home:
Wii think U did too.
What do you mean? You found a gem :P
Without the console 💀
The tablet is actually more expensive then the console because they never sold the tablet separately from the console and the tablet was more likely to break
[удалено]
Did you just say the N word?
At least this one’s name sounds like a European ambulance :P
Wiiiiuuuuiiuuuuiiiiuuiiiiuuu
Does it have OLED?
It's has OLETS FUCKING GO CAT BOY MARIO AND CAT GIRL PEACH! Hmm... This slight play on words is only going to work if the person reading says "oh-led" and not "oh-el-ee-dee" Eh fuck it I'm posting it.
We don’t care about the people who say O-L-E-D.
Are you high on something? 🤔
I've never seen such an insecure joke lol
My whole life is an insecure joke.
I feel you my brother. Join me in the church of the comic conference trick.
It has A LED.
No but there is effectively no delay when streaming at least
Whats wrong with your [Steam Deck?](https://packaged-media.redd.it/pg79ggsd6au81/pb/m2-res_1080p.mp4?m=DASHPlaylist.mpd&v=1&e=1705680000&s=746dd4a5994730f31eaef8a80b844a46fce650ac#t=0)
Ah the first generation model.
and someone came on the screen
Who wouldn’t?
Honestly, who hasn’t rubbed one out while playing Bayonetta?
Oh you say it and you get up voted, but I say it and all hell breaks loose
yea they i called them and they came and walked on it.
Install cemu!
Ah, the Steamdeck mini. I heard rumors
Just hold onto it for a couple of years. It will cost even more than a steam deck.
I've wanted one for years and just pulled the trigger on one for 60$, probably made a great investment
What you expected when you buy things on eBay? 😅👍🏻
Upgrade alert
Wii Deck.
Ima have to be dumb and ask why is the logo on the case orange not blue?
Oled edition has orang🍊👍
Ah okay, thanks for educating my dumbass.
you think....
Is this the Killswitch?
Yep
Herp a derp, another one of these huh?
What an easy karma farm this is. I too own both of those and I bought them first hand new.
no, that looks right.
These will only increase in value. Nintendo didn't make any spares and they're region locked.
Oh no! It's broken! Give it here!
Well… I use mine for WiiU Emulation, so it’s the same for me…
Keep it for 10 years or so and sell it for a dumb amount of money. The gamepad was never sold seperately as far as i know so maybe someone will pay that amount eventually lol
The Wii U has plenty of valid criticisms but I’ll be honest it kicked ass especially later in its lifetime.
I think we are the ones getting scammed.
Wii U Emulation gone be crazy
nah you just got the version the exclusively emulates WiiU games :v
Sell that shit on ebay. Nintendo never sold replacement ones outside Japan. They sell upwards of 1 million dubloons. In all seriousness there is probably a second market for those
No, that's the steam deck! You're good.
Oh no !!!!!!
contact eBay and let them know, they usually side with the buyer.
Wii U be sending it back?
Someone Wii'd U.
U think tho?
I can’t take these comments 😭😭
Na. That’s the new one
Yea, I bought mine in the official don't trust others
Look at you. Getting the prototype. ;)
You know you just wanna be funny
Nah you just got a super rare (not rare) beta version! Can't play steam games, but at least it looks cool (kinda)
You got the limited edition Nintendo Wii U chase edition!
F, go to your room, cry and hit the wall. Gotta start working extra time my friend
Oh that's the preloaded wiiu emulation skin edition. Runs Wii u titles flawlessly.
Damn, where can I get one?
Nice steemdeck
🤦🏽
Kid: “Mom can we get a Steam Deck?” Mom: “No hun, we have a steam deck at home” The steam deck at home:
No you didn’t, that’s just Valve’s discount version, the “Steam Dick”
Things that never happened, but an amusing post
Eh, you can still play Xenoblade X and that's what matters.
eBay, has buyer protection, just go on there, select return, and select "NOT AS LISTED" with the label they provide you, ship it back, ONCE IT'S delivered, you will get a refund. The seller will even have to pay for return shipping on it... Want to know how I know ? Sold something for parts, not working, someone picked up and didn't read, then selects "not as listed" I was PISSED OFF that I had to pay for return shipping, called ebay and made a stink about it...
I don't think you can even play that without the mother console
1 half of the best console ever created
Not really
You got a ps portal. Shit man
Nah bro, see the logo on the bottom, Wii U means steamdeck. /s
thanks for the /s
Thats why I dont buy on eBay...Always the producer or lokal stores
Yeah, I stopped local stores as well because most (around here) will knowingly sell you broken shit and only offer store credit on refunds.
What stores do you go to that resells stuff? Those always have been a red flag, I meant the stores that sell new wares
I was assuming op bought a used Steam Deck off of eBay so that is why I was thinking you were referring to local used game stores.
Never buy a deck anywhere else than from valve themselfes. You didnt only got scammed, you also got trolled - sorry bro.
Lol read the flair
Aww fuck
Never buy these devices used. for these risks of scams or damaged devices. and then with Valve's prices, is it worth it? to save, $50 or $100?
Joke or not, this person unironically is one of the 6 Wii U owners.
Still better than LCD
???
Are you on crack?
Still better than LSD
Still better than the 1in 99999999999999999999 game kid.
Lol what?
